If you are wondering if you should scale back the number of podcast episodes you are publishing, the most important thing is your consistency. I want you super committed to whatever consistent thing that you decide on or the frequency in which you decide.
Be committed to that strategy for at least six months to a year. If your goals are to be a part-time or bi-weekly podcaster, it’s going to be slower growth. But again if the goal isn’t fast growth or the goal isn’t quick monetization, I think you’re totally fine as long as you are consistent.
Here are 5 tips to help you decide how to scale yourpodcast episodes
1.Decide on what your goals are with your Podcast
Is your podcast for fun, or is it mission work? Think about whether this is just simply a hobby, like part-time, or you are wanting to be intentional, like educating and encouraging your audience with your knowledge and expertise.
Is your current schedule stressful? Re-evaluate your current schedule. If you’re considering scaling back, know that it’s okay because your podcasting schedule shouldn’t be stressful.
How is your podcast schedule currently doing? Analyze the data of your current strategy and if it fits your schedule.
2.Assess how much time and resources you have
How often do you want to put out podcast episodes? Are you going to publish episodes weekly or bi-weekly?
Will it fit into your schedule? We have to keep it at a happy medium of it stretching us, showing up and growing, and coming up with content and serving, but not feeling overwhelmed and stressed out by podcasting.
Are you going to edit the episodes? Are you trying to save money and edit yourself, or are you going to outsource the editing to someone else?
3.Decide the pace of growth you desire
Are you willing to grow slowly? Maybe making money from the podcast is important, but it’s not something urgent and you’re willing to grow slowly to grow big.
Do you plan to monetize? If your goal is to monetize, are you offering services, courses, or coaching?
Do you want leads and clients? Is your goal with your podcast to bring in leads and clients to your business?
4. Try to scale back for a short time and test it out
The only way to know how our audience will respond to something is to try it.
Commit to the consistency that you are sharing with your audience.
Be open and honest and let people know what’s going on, then try it long enough so that you can watch the statistics. If something isn’t working or the audience is not connecting, you need to tweak it.
5.Conduct 90-day evaluations
Take a look every 90 days at your analytics. 30 days is not a good amount of data because podcasts roll on 30 days.
What does the data look like? Granted they’re gonna fall because there’s less to listen to, so consider that.
What’s happening with the reviews? Did you hear from anyone? Were people emailing? Post a couple of polls in your Facebook group, or post on the show and ask them to email you. Talk to your audience. They are often willing to give you feedback.
The best thing that you can do to know if you need to go back to your previous schedule is to know if your podcast schedule is working for your audience.
You can have short or long podcast episodes or even once a month if you want to, just make sure it’s in line with your heart, your goals, what God’s calling you to do, how He’s calling you to show up, and what your listeners are asking of you.
