One of the most common questions that I get asked is, “How do I map out my podcast episodes?” So many of you have experienced this same situation where you start recording your episode and then either get off-target or forget altogether what it was you wanted to discuss. That stops now! I am going to walk you through some productivity tips on how you can plan out your shows within 10 minutes or less. It’s a super simple step-by-step process and it takes almost no time at all. Get ready, let’s dive in!
Plan Your Podcast In 10 Minutes Or Less
1. To plan your podcast, start with the end result you are seeking
The first productivity tip is that I want you to think about the next show you’re going to create. What is it that you are wanting to accomplish? What do you want your person to do or create after listening to your episode?
Suppose, for example, your end result is to create a productive atmosphere for homework. The first thing you would need to do is work backward from this outcome. To achieve this result, you will need to create three steps. I’m going to set up this example below.
Keep in mind that these notes should be short and sweet and not full of detail. This is simply to keep us on track when the recording of the episodes begins.
2. Write down your step-by-step plan for your podcast
Step 1. Choose Your Space- Kitchen Table
Step 2. Envision the Atmosphere
The atmosphere is clean and has a diffuser running in the background with fresh-smelling essential oils.
The kitchen table has a snack plate, and soft music plays in the background.
This space will be known as the Focus Workspace where learning and homework can occur for 1 hour.
Step 3. Create Atmosphere Based On Vision
Your goal is to walk your person through each step tactically and explain what needs to take place in order for this vision to occur.

This entire process of note-taking should take no longer than 2-4 minutes. With each episode that I record, I never take more than 5 minutes to prep my notes. Planning your podcast in 10 minutes or less is super achievable with these steps.
3. Add sub-steps where needed
Once you have these 3 simple steps established, you can go back and create sub-steps under each one. You can include 2-5 sub-steps for each of the 3 outline ideas. You won’t always have or need these, however, allow yourself the freedom to flow. Remember, these are high-level notes. Spare the details and leave them for the recording.
4. When you plan your podcast episodes, you always want to include a call to action
At this point, you have the meat of your episode. The only thing left is figuring out your call to action (CTA). Do you have a course available, a Facebook group to join, or an email list; what do you want them to do next? This is the perfect opportunity to connect your CTA to whatever your podcast is about. If you have a course to offer, make sure you are offering it here!
5. Last but not least, record the podcast episode
The next and final step to planning your podcast? Record! Go and do it! I trust my gut, my imagination, and trust Holy Spirit to lead me through all these steps and sub-steps. These high-level notes are here to keep you on track.
Everything coming out of your mouth while you are recording is linking to steps 1, 2, 3, or the end result. Don’t add more fluff! It’s better to have less that is more effective, than fluff and emotion.
The next time you plan out your podcast episodes, give these productivity tips a try. I can help you keep on track with the main points of the solution you are delivering to your listeners. Plus, it will save you tons of time in the long run. You can plan your podcast episodes in 10 minutes or less!
I pray this blesses you!

Stef
