Good morning, sunshine. It is 7:40 AM. I’m sipping my second cup of coffee. And this episode was totally unplanned for you, but it was so good. It’s a strategy podcast session. So my students over in the course Podcast Pro University often get stuck on what would my show be called? And what would the tagline be? What would the channel art look like? What would I talk about? Help me with content ideas. And so they can book a quick strategy call.
(00:34)
It’s a 30 minute jam session with me and it’s fully dedicated to streamlining their podcast. So today, Hey, I wanted to let you be a fly on the wall into one of these podcast strategy sessions with one of my students, Beatriz Vargas. And we really talk about and tackle the SEO we get into naming of her show. I give her a strategy for how she can create these super cool podcast episodes. And I mean, just wait, like get to the end of this session and everything comes full circle. And both of us are just sitting there like, yes.
(01:11)
So if you have podcasting on your heart or a YouTube channel, which hello, you better have one for 2020. I want you to stick with this because this might help you come up with the strategy for setting things up the right way. And if you’re sitting in the space where Beatriz was sitting and you’re going, I just need some help, Stef, like, can we do a quick strategy session? It’s really fine tune specific and fast. And it’s only related to podcasting or YouTube and those little SEO tagline stuff that you need to get mapped out and content creation.
(01:47)
Please let me know. Let the team know you can email us at info@stefaniegass.com, and we can give you the details. I know you’re going to enjoy, I gotta go sip on this brew, coffee brew, not beer brew, love to chat soon. I’ve gotten probably 30, 40% of the way through. Okay. And, I started going through the exercises and, a lot of, I think what’s left is the logistics that you have, you know, just editing and things like that, which I feel that’ll be pretty easy when I get there. Yeah.
(03:21)
What I wanted to dig in for today was just kind of planning it out and planning the content. Cause that’s the thing that’s just held me back, you know? Sure. Finding out what that should be, planning it out and content. If you hear me clicking I’m typing notes. Okay. So plan it out and the content. Okay. So tell me about, I have your notes up, but I wanna hear in your own words, what your vision is for your show. I have a story with my husband where God really just redeems our marriage. My husband walked out on me. Yeah. We were separated for about a year, kind of like went through a really, really tough year.
(04:12)
So now I find myself teaching a lot, you know, whether it’s I’m, you know, at my church, or I find myself telling the story a lot. And when I do, I have so many women reaching out to me saying that was so inspiring. You know, you really made a difference. Thank you so much for being brave and sharing. Um, and then I would find myself kind of coaching women through what they were going through. And I started to feel like this should be, you know, it’s not my business today but I feel like it should be.
(04:51)
I guess part of the thing that’s held me back is I feel like, should this be a business or really, is it more of a ministry? And so as I listened to your show, I’m like, you know, I can start a podcast and it really can be a ministry because anybody who needs it for free is gonna get it. Yeah. And then anybody who would wanna work with me one on one that, you know, that may be a way that I could start to make money off of it. Cause you know, it started to get to this point where it was a lot of my time. It might be twice a week. And I was spending time with people twice a week for free, which I’m happy to do, but I feel God really spoke a word to me.
(05:32)
He said, very specifically, you’ll impact thousands with your story. So I said, okay, what does this mean? That is so beautiful. It was, I was in the middle of like working on an MLM or had just started an MLM. And so I thought my weight loss story, like, what story is he talking about? And, it wasn’t until a few months later where at my church they do this thing called stories where they basically, they film a testimony and they show it each week. Yeah. And so they had shown the testimony of myself and my husband and really it was all him, he was talking and saying how God really just changed him.
(06:11)
And he was an unbeliever when he left me. God, you know, really just told him, like, you better go get your family back. And so that’s how it all started. And so then I started to see, okay, God, that’s the story you’re talking about. So that’s why I’m like, I have to, you know, I feel like I’ll be disobedient if I don’t start sharing. I just haven’t, because I don’t know like where to start. For a while it was like this doesn’t fit in at all with my MLM. So, I left, I quit that cause it didn’t make any sense for me and I wasn’t making any money from that. And so now I’m a real estate agent and that’s how I make my money.
(06:55)
You know, it pays much more than an MLM and allows me a little bit of time freedom. But this is the passion project. And so that’s gonna allow me to do this. Yeah. And whether or not I’m able to do it full time. Great. But I just feel like I have to do it. I’m with you. Oh my gosh. How cool is that? I love how I don’t love it cuz it hurts at the time. But like God put us through the ringer, like the test of all tests and goes, now I’m gonna use this for good. Like let’s watch me transform that hardship for you into a miracle, into a glory, into a story that like you were told can transform thousands. I’m so for it. So love that.
(07:36)
I think it’s super cool that you do have a big business model today that brings you in revenue that you’re not like, okay, we need to make money from this tomorrow because we’re removing that pressure from something that starts from a place of passion is a beautiful thing because the money will come. I promise you the money will come. And coaching is a hundred percent probably where I would tell you to start with something like this type of brand. Because until you start meeting, until you start meeting with these women over, like, let’s say the course of six months as your show grows and you start to gain more and more women that are giving you the questions.
(08:12)
I think as it grows, you’ll start to notice, okay, I’m walking them through the same steps, I’m giving them the same type of advice. I now see that I’ve created a system that I can package into maybe a course or a workbook or you’ll get some type of inspiration for a passive product. Down the road tomorrow you could take a coaching client. Right. So yes, like, and also all that does is add a deeper level of implementation for her cause she can learn from your show and we’ll talk about all of the ways that the show might fit in and might actually fuel your coaching business, which is crazy.
(08:51)
I already have ideas for that offering for her. Okay. You had all this free stuff, but you have like one specific issue or one thing that you wanna work through with me, it’s just another add on of value for her to hire you for an hour or 30 minutes. Okay. Let’s first talk about the podcast because I wanna make sure that we leave this strategy session with any open podcast questions you have, like if we need to name it, tagline, the SEO, like let’s get those little things mapped out so that we’re done and we’ll spend the rest of it. If we have time talking about what that coaching might look like or like funneling people in, et cetera.
(09:25)
The name actually, I was just working on like a mission. So I was going through the steps that you have laid out in the course. Yeah. And so I kind of wrote down, you know, one of the things you wrote were like create a mission and then how can we get them there? Let me create my mission and maybe you can help me with the wording and that might help to kinda figure out what should this be named. So right now I have my mission is to improve the quality of marriages by helping, I don’t know if it’s Christian women react differently to their spouses. And then again, in parentheses through biblical principles.
(10:07)
So maybe it’s just helping women react differently through biblical principles or helping just in general, Christian women react differently to their spouses. Okay. And then, and reignite the fuel that once burned in their relationship. The fuel. Okay. Any ideas for a title yet? I was thinking I’ve had a really tough time with that last night. I was coming up with like the real life wife or the real life Christian and wife cuz the real life wife, um, is available. But then it’s not available on Instagram and several different iterations of it are taken on Instagram as well.
(10:46)
So when I thought maybe it’s the real life Christian wife, the podcast itself doesn’t necessarily have to be towards Christian women. But the things that I talk about are biblical based. Oh it’s Christian women. It’s Christian women a hundred percent. Yep. No it’s Christian women because you are teaching through Christ and a piece of your truth and your message is through scripture. So like I think you have to be extremely clear like yeah. This entire show is based on scripture, on faith on faith-led belief.
(11:25)
I had this sure idea for a name come through in my brain just a sec. What about something like the faith driven wife or the unshaken wife or the unshaken marriage? Something like that because I think we want them to understand that like the real life wife could be anything. Right. I want it to be more like she is holding onto her marriage. I have a friend that like went through something similar too and she kept telling me, I am holding onto this with white knuckle ferocity. Like God told me to hold on with my white knuckles, like to not let go of this marriage. And like, that’s what I think of when I think of your story.
(12:09)
She has to be a guest on your show. But I think of that, I think of like the unshakeable wife or the grace fueled wife, the grace fueled marriage, Something like that,. So one of the things that I talk about and I sit when I’m talking to women is I tell them, like you have to have an overwhelming amount of grace so much that your cup is completely overfilled because that’s the only way you’re gonna be able to not kill your husband in this moment. Like, you know, when he’s doing all the things that you just, how dare he do that. And so I like that you had said the grace fueled wife, I was saying the grace filled wife, something like that.
(12:55)
The grace filled wife, the grace filled marriage. Is it the marriage or is it the wife or is it both? I think it’s the wife. Okay. So it would be great if husbands listened and maybe they had some ideas as to how they can relate to their wives. But essentially what this is, is, you know, women here like Ephesians women submit to your husbands and they freak out over that verse. Sure. But it’s not actually as terrible as it sounds when you read it on paper or you hear a man say it. And so that’s really what I wanna dig into. It’s like, if you actually just change the way you relate to your husband, so many other things will change.
(13:40)
And there’s a great body of work called the Love and Respect, there was a podcast. I don’t think they publish episodes anymore, but it was a book, so many things. And that really helped me. So, it would be a lot of principles from that book, but they basically take biblical principles and they break it down. But the reason why I think this podcast is necessary is because it is told from the viewpoint of a man. Yep. And so it needs to be told from a wife’s viewpoint who like, who went through all the things so that’s why I think it’s important.
(14:15)
Whenever I want my husband to do something, instead of telling him to do something, I’m like, I’m gonna do more of that. Let me be his example. And it’s so funny because I’ll do more and think he doesn’t notice, he doesn’t notice he doesn’t. All of a sudden he’ll say something like over Thanksgiving, we were all saying something we’re thankful for. And he said that one specific thing of like she sets this example for me in like health and all these. I was like, not only did he notice, but like it internalized for him. And even if it took six months for that seed to be planted, it would’ve been opposite if I was just Adam. Right. So it’s like, yeah, I love all of that.
(14:58)
So I love all of that so much. And it’s so funny that we’re even having this conversation because after my friend came to me and told me everything that had happened between her and her husband, I’m like, why don’t you just leave it? You know? And like, that was where my head was, even as like Christian as I am, I’m like, how can you stay with him? She’s like, God told me to stay. And I was like, what? And we had this like two hour conversation and it was like everything you’re saying, and it’s so beautiful.
(15:25)
I think there’s so many women hanging on by a thread of that decision point. Do I leave? Or do I stay and can this be fixed and can this be healed? And I’m so behind your mission and look you hanging in, not only brought him to God, but now you have this story that resonates with all of these women, and it’s funny. Cause like when you’re sitting in that dark space, you feel like everything is like your rock bottom. Nothing’s good can possibly come of this, but everything great comes of it cause that’s how God works. So let’s get back to this. So I think if we went with, for the purpose of this conversation, grace filled wife.
(16:09)
And I, if you can leave off, I don’t know if you wanna leave off the, the, but like for purpose of locking in the domain name, locking in the podcast, if grace filled wife is available, right? Yes. Like I would take that. Here’s what I was thinking for like your tagline. Sure. Something like, you know, this will be recorded so you can write it down and play with it. But something like healing and reigniting your marriage while believing or staying steadfast to the promise from God, through grace guidance and scripture led principles and inspiring stories of perseverance and white knuckled ferocity or something like that.
(16:51)
The key words here in this tagline are like healing, reigniting your marriage. Very clear. That’s the promise for her? How, because we are believing in the promise from God. And then what, how are we doing that through grace guidance, scripture and inspiring interviews, right? Yeah. So that’s like the tagline. And then I think when I think about like an SEO paragraph that will get her to click on you, it’s something like, are you sitting in a marriage that feels empty? Are you juggling to reignite the passion and the love that you once shared with your husband?
(17:40)
Are you in between repair and leaving or are you toying with the idea of leaving, but you’re stuck with your promise to God to stay true. I’ve been there. My story is your story. And I wanna help you heal and reignite your marriage while still believing in the promise that God gave you. I want you to stay with me, learn from me, internalize the grace guidance and interviews so that we can transform your marriage and you can become the grace filled wife. I was like for so long I’ve been feeling like I need to find somebody who can help me unwrap this. And then when I found your podcast and I binged on all the episodes, I’m like, I think she can do it. So I’m so excited.
(18:44)
Does this feel right? Does that messaging feel right? Yeah. I mean, and I can tweak the verbiage, but that yeah, that’s essentially it. And if you wanna take that verbatim, go for it. Copyright Beatriz. That’s her copy. Okay. So that would be the name, the tag and the SEO description, so to speak. And you can use that everywhere, your website, Instagram, the Instagram bio is the tagline because it’s a one sentence promise to her. And so then when we look at your show, let’s talk about content.
(19:27)
What are you thinking? Are you thinking one episode a week? Do you have any ideas for the way you wanna lay out your show? Yeah. I was thinking if not one episode a week, two smaller ones. So I noticed you do about anywhere from 20 to 40 minute episodes. I really like the fact that it’s two episodes a week. Whatever it is I do, I wanna make sure that I can be consistent with it. So I wanna make sure that I can plan out enough content. That’s what I’m nervous about that I won’t have enough content and then I’ll run out of things to say, and then I’ll be scrambling.
(20:07)
So I wanna batch work. I can do interviews and things like that. But for the first couple of episodes, so kind of creating, and I think that will eventually help me create like some sort of online course or workbook going through the content. I noticed that like your content is really rich, but it’s not, you know, you get something totally different, you know, with Podcast Pro University. Exactly. Well, the course is the implementation. So as you start to see these women, as they start to like reach out to you and DM you and all of those women that you’ve worked with in the past, I think you can give them so many tools, but there will be a point where they’re like, but I need you to either hold my hand.
(21:03)
I need the coaching or I need to see, like, can you give me examples of how I can embody the things you’re teaching me? So it could be a membership group. It could be a support. Think of the potential of a support membership group. Oh my gosh. Right? Like, you know, the grace filled wife community and there’s all these women empowering, lifting up, putting scripture behind each other as they share like hard stories and breakthroughs and wins. And I mean, it could be $7 a month and you go live once a month and you give them a new strategy and you do answer questions live. Oh my gosh. Like that could be such a beautiful thing to grow into.
(21:43)
So for the content, I would obviously start with your story. You were saying that I’m with you and if it ends up being, I mean, I would sit behind the mic and bare your soul and if it ends up being an hour and 30 minutes, chop it into three episodes. Okay. And just say, you know, continue to episode two. And anytime you can leave a cliff hanger, it’s great. Cause they come back to the show. So I would definitely get your story out. That’s gonna be probably episode one and two, maybe even episode three.
(22:15)
So I had an idea and I don’t know if you like it or not, but my idea was what if one, so if you had two a week, you could either do just a solo episode on a specific topic. So think about your woman. All of the pain points for her. And you’ve done this exercise from the course, like, you know what she’s struggling with. Just pick one, like that’s the title of the episode. I’ve lost faith. Like that’s the title of your episode, right? You can go in there and like, okay, this is for the woman and in your journey today, you’ve lost faith that you can repair this marriage. And then that’s the lie.
(22:51)
You’ve lost faith. But then you go in and you deliver the promise and the promise you can pull from scripture, you can pull from a resource or a book that you found and then take them through, how do we implement this promise to rewrite the lie? And then so like second one might be, I am lonely that’s the lie. And so you get in there and you say, this is the lie for today’s sister. Here’s His promise. And you give them all the scripture behind it. How do we heal this today? How do we get her over the other side of that lie? What other lies come through for this woman where she’s sitting, where you sat?
(23:27)
She’s not good enough. Pretty enough. He doesn’t want me, I’m dumb. I’m unworthy. I’m gonna be alone. I’ve given up, I’m tired of fighting. God did this to me or why me never thought this could happen to me. What about the kids? Right? I mean, gosh, so many lies that are going through your heart as you sit there and you’re like, your life is falling apart, right? Yep. My life is falling apart. That’s a lie too. So think of that every episode. So let’s say you have three that are like it’s a lie and you do talk about it and it’s 30 minutes max. Right. And then the fourth episode is an interview with a Grace filled wife.
(24:19)
So for example, like you could have an interview with a Grace filled wife, you know, Alana share on redemption, interview with a grace filled wife, Caitlin shares on forgiveness, interview with a grace filled wife, Mary shares on passion. Yeah. Just to like, you know, spice it up. You’ve got somebody teaching. Yeah. They’re hearing that it can be redeemed. It can be healed. It can be saved. And then they’re also learning from you how to rewrite the lie. Like crazy. So that’s just what I thought of. I was typing that. Yeah. And thinking how cool that that layout would be.
(24:57)
Because then what actually this allows me to do is all the other stuff that I have when I am sitting women and telling them I actually, when I am coaching them through the thing, I am giving them all the implementation. So what it does is allows me to give so much free content, but it actually also allows me to like give them the stuff, whether it is for a course or for coaching that, no, this is one step, two because I do that already. And I was kind of just trying to figure out how I really like this because I could also share that in a podcast one day as well.
(25:39)
But with this, this is enough that can get me through several weeks or months of content and then start to like, look at analytics and see, you know, what am I getting the most feedback from? And then switch if I need to from there. But this is definitely a place to start, you know? Yeah. And you know, it’s funny cause you’ll think like, Ooh, but should I do interviews and all this thing, God will give you the women. He’ll give them to you. I already have one for you. You can probably think of a couple that you met through your journey that have gotten to the other side of that. It’s crazy.
(26:10)
And then once people start listening to the show, God will bring you the guests. It’s so cool. He’ll give you the topics and He’ll give you the words, all you were called to do was you went through it and now to share your story, that’s what your call was, you know? Now here you sit and you have all of this, you have an incredible journey that can help other women heal and grow through their pain. You will then have the platform to pull from the similar community. So that’s how I would map that out. And yeah, if you wanna do two a week, amazing, the more you do, the more it will help you.
(26:45)
If you have the time, I would totally do that. And interviews are a lot of work. They’re more work than solo. So I would not do 50 50 to start. I would do maybe four to one, a three to one and then see how you like interviews. See if you, you know, like you said, if the analytics are off the chart for them, cool. You can do them more often. And then any other questions on the content piece? No, we’ve got a name for me to look up and this is something really that I can start with and dig into. And then like, I feel like this is enough for me to take action on like my word for this year is action.
(27:27)
So I’ve done all the things, you know, I like literally have gone through all the training and the whatever, and I haven’t actually started anything. And so my pastor was like, you need to just start something. So I’m like, I know. So, I feel like this is enough for me to actually start putting something out there. And then, if I have more questions later, I could always book, like a power hour. But um, yeah. And a lot of times too, like if you have podcast relating questions, put them in the group and the girls are so amazing.
(28:01)
All I want for you to do to launch with is the first two episodes with your story and it’s live, it’s in the world and now you’re committed and now you’re taking action on the call. And all you have to do from that point is just record another, you know, episode or two a week. That’s it. And so you, that is you taking massive action right now because there’s no work for you to do, to launch the show other than record your story. Okay?
(28:27)
So I’m gonna encourage you by January 15th and you know, I’m gonna air this on my podcast. I’m gonna make you do it. Okay. I hope you loved that podcast strategy session with my girl, my student Beatriz. I hope that you go follow her and check out her show. You can check out more about her on the show notes, but I just want you to consider what’s your thing for 2020. And remember that you must be putting free content into the world. That solves, that is how you grow an audience. And ladies, without an audience, you cannot have a profitable online business because there’s no trust.
(29:09)
Especially now when every, you know, Tom, Dick and Sally wants to have an online hustle, you wanna stand out. And the way you stand out is by showing your heart, by being authentic, by giving solutions first, and then in the background, we come up with a way to monetize a brand. Okay? And the audience that you’ve cultivated, that trust you, that shows up for you every week that knows you’re consistent, that knows your heart. They will buy from you. I promise because they want to see implementation on all the cool stuff that you teach.
(29:41)
And here’s a crazy thought for you. Have you ever come to my show and thought, Ooh, she gives away too much. Have you ever thought that? I bet you come to my show because I give away too much, right? Because you learn, because you get to hear these strategy and coaching sessions and you get to apply them to your own life. But you know, what’s even more crazy Lola. The fact that because I give away so much, people trust me and they can visualize how that coaching session would feel for themselves. And they go, I need her to do that with me, which in turn brings me business and grows my brand and allows me to help more people.
(30:17)
It’s so counterintuitive, give it away, give it all away. Don’t be afraid of that. Pray that the right people will be led to you. And I pray over you that the right people will see and hear your messaging and that your business can be glorified in His name. And that the favor of the Lord will be given to you in this new year. As you do the work you’ve been called to do that, you can step out in faith and know that if it’s on your heart, it’s worthy of sharing.
(30:46)
If it’s in your mind and you’ve been thinking about it and thinking about it and thinking about it, you’ve gotta do it. And I want you to know that you are so much more courageous than you think. And I’ve said that before, but I will say it until you believe me, because God created you on purpose. He gave you these dreams on purpose. You’ve got these fears on purpose because fears are only there so you can conquer them. Did you hear that? Fears are only there to help you grow so that you can conquer them. Sending you love and light and a huge virtual hug, as always, Stef.
