Increase Click-Through Rates by Learning How to Title Your Podcast Episodes
I have 3 criteria for you that will completely explode your click-through rates! These 3 criteria will give you the exact guidance on how to title your podcast episodes and get people excited to listen in!
The 3 criteria to help you create an engaging, catchy title that will increase click-through rates
Can the title be juicy and controversial? If you can make your avatar say, “Oh, I want that”, or, “I need to listen to that”, you have a winner.
Create the title to be SEO-driven. Is this a tactical training episode where you can use keywords to get found? Title your podcast episode with what question your avatar is googling. Using this strategy will increase your click-through rates.
Do a blend of juicy/controversial, SEO and keyword-driven, and question/ trigger titles. The title of your podcast episode can be about more than just keywords. It can also trigger your listener. Blend layer on layer.
All of the titles of my podcast episodes, email titles, and blog titles fall into these three categories. For example, one of my podcast episodes is titled, “The Truth About MLM Network Marketing and What Passive Income Really Means”, this one is juicy and controversial, which makes you want to click.
The next title, “How to Start Coaching and Profit Immediately in Your Business”, is SEO or keyword-driven. So if someone is Googling how to start coaching, this episode is going to show up. “Profit immediately in your business” is also included in the title. This piece is a big trigger because everyone is wondering how to start profiting from their business.
Before learning how to title your podcast episodes, get clear on who your avatar is
Who is she? Is she married or single? Does she work or stay home? What is she passionate about, and what keeps her up at night? Answering these questions about your avatar is very important.
What does your avatar need? What is she googling, and what are her triggers? Put yourself in her shoes and just get in her brain and get inside her heart. Solve those problems that she is looking for. Getting detailed about who your avatar is will increase the click-through rates when you include the trigger in the title of your podcast episodes.
Create your episode BEFORE your title
Dig into your episode. What was your ultimate promise of it? This is going to determine how to title your podcast episodes.
How do I make the podcast title better? See if you can infuse some search keywords that your avatar might be searching for.
Make the title a question or a trigger for your avatar to get even higher click-through rates
What kind of questions does your avatar want answered? Would the title make you raise your hand? Make sure that it makes you question what it’s about.
What triggers can you add to your title that make your avatar say, “That’s me. Is she talking about that today?”
