(00:00):

(00:21):
And I am just really pumped for you to hear part two of these wins and these two women, they’re so incredible. And the work that they’re doing in the world is so amazing.
(00:33):
And I know that you are gonna be blown away, cuz I was blown away after hearing these testimonies and it all comes down to trust, belief, surrender, seeking Him, all Him.
An then you take massive action to actually do the work that He’s prompting you to do. These women are true testimonies of that.
(00:57):
And I can’t wait for you to just be blessed by their stories. So happy Saturday, I hope that you find time to listen to this with an open heart today and that it can bless your business journey in some way, as much as it has to bless mine.
(02:13):
Before we get into this amazing conversation friends, there are a couple of spots left for Podcast to Profit Spring/Summer 2022. And one of them has your name on it. I know I’ve been saving a spot for you, honey.
(02:28):
I can’t wait to help you do big things. I cannot wait for you to totally rework the vision and the strategy behind how to scale a podcast and make it extremely profitable, make it totally successful and make it something that glorifies the kingdom of God, cuz that is what we are all about over here.
(02:49):
Now, if you are ready to scale your show, make more money for or any money from your podcast, monetize, have community and a faith-led leader walk you through, have every tactical tool to get you where you need to be.
(03:02):
You wanna go on a sprint season of blowing up your podcast, of ranking on the charts, of hitting, hopefully the top 10 to 5% of podcasts in the entire world.
(03:11):
This is actually happening, my friends, as you will hear in today’s roundup episodes and you wanna do it all in community with other faith-led women just like you. And just really say, this is my time.
(03:24):
This is what I’m going to pour my heart and soul into over the next 90 days so that I can really reap those benefits over hopefully the next decades to come.
I am building a legacy business of true transformation without sacrificing time with my family without hustling, without having to be on social 24/7.
(03:45):
‘This is the way I’m a walk in it’ Isaiah 23, then you need to run to podcasttoprofitmastermind.com. We will be closing down the apps in a few short days.
There are only a few spots left and I know that one is saved just for you. All right. Let’s listen in.
Hey, Ms. Ashley Smith! What’s up girl?
(04:10):
Hey, how are you?
(04:12):
Good. Thanks for coming.
(04:13):
Thank you so much for having me.
(04:15):
All right. Tell us a little bit about, I want you guys listening to, pay attention to the different niches that are coming in here.
We have simplicity and we have grief and we have simplifying home for specifically for moms and really finding that confidence for moms. Listen in, because Ashley and Justine have completely different niches.
So this works no matter what you do. Sidebar. Ashley, what is your podcast, and what is your tagline?
(04:47):
Yes, I have the Veggies and Virtue Podcast and I help busy moms meal plan, meal prep and with meal times through simple meal ideas, kitchen organizational strategies, and also just tips for helping them feed their families.
(05:01):
I love this. I literally love this because I’m all about that stuff. I’m like your ideal avatar, Ashley. Give me all the easy things to get my kids to eat the things I already have so that I don’t have to be a bougie boo.
And I just need to feed them the things. And ‘eat the carrot, Landon!’
(05:19):
And you’re so good at this and you’re a dietician. So what I love about Ashley is you’re very grounded and you also bring tons of expertise, but you’re so tactical.
You have so many qualities I love, but you don’t fluff people, you really give it all away.
(05:38):
And that speaks super highly to the people, their outcome. How many women have had huge outcomes by working with you, just cuz you truly bless them?
(05:48):
Yes. It’s been an evolution, but it’s a blessing to me because I’ve gotten to see that evolution in three different families and through specifically different children.
And their own relationships with food and their families, own mealtime journey, getting to kind of blossom and take root in a way that I’ve gotten to have part of.
(06:05):
So that’s been a real gift to me and even more of a gift now as I podcast and reach families through that.
(06:11):
How long have you been doing this work?
(06:14):
So, I’ve been a dietician for over a decade, but Veggies and Virtue has existed for about five years, but I was predominantly blog and social media-based before.
And then I launched my podcast the day before P2P started. So it was kind of like a boom.
(06:30):
I’d been praying and waiting on the Lord to tell me what the next thing was after COVID and homeschooling and just kind of slowing down my business.
And then I finally felt He was like, yep, you’re gonna do it in the next three weeks.
(06:42):
And it’s Christmas and you got two big birthdays and two trips. So get going and don’t make excuses. And so it was like CYC, PPU, P2P in under a month. And it was go time.
(06:51):
And here you are. And you did it and you got through it and you had a trip to Disney World.
(06:58):
So Ashley, you were already blogging. You were already Instagramming and you’re like, you have a very large following on social. What was it about this method?
(07:12):
First of all, where did you find me? Cause I’m curious about that, but secondly, what was it about this method that had you be like I’m doing in this pivot?
(07:21):
I think for me, and I think anyone who spends a lot of time on social media, we can see elements of people’s lives and it feels very aspirational, but it doesn’t always directly connect with us.
And I think when I found you, I had heard of you through someone else’s podcast and I just started binging on all of your things.
(07:38):
And I think honestly, I wasn’t really open to podcasting cuz I was like, I cannot do another thing right now. I am at capacity, but I think the more I listened to you, I just continued to feel the Lord pressed my heart. This is what you need and I just wanted what you had in your business.
(07:55):
And you had this balance and these boundaries around motherhood and your business, and you were assertive and intentional in work and really passionate about and clear and confident in your calling, but you didn’t serve others at the expense of your family.
(08:12):
And I think that was something I always really wrestled with. I identified as a stay at home mom, but I was like working hard hustling at naptime and nighttime.
And so I think for me it was just like I have my own business, and yet I wasn’t really running my business the way that felt consistent with my values.
(08:29):
And it felt it was just constantly coaching on boundaries. And so I think when I saw you really pouring in 110% to your business, into all those that you serve, but also putting boundaries on your family and your faith and your marriage and things like that.
(08:43):
That was huge to me because I felt a lot of people in the entrepreneurial space separate them and it seemed one had to violate the other and I just wasn’t willing to do that.
(08:53):
And so I think when I saw how you did it, I was like, I will really do anything that you tell me to do because I just want this model and I’m willing to work for that.
Because I don’t wanna keep working in the direction that I am because I’m not willing to sacrifice the things that I can already see are being put up for sacrifice. And I’m just do that.
(09:13):
I love that. I live for this conversation. It’s everything I stand for is everything you just said. And so this model, and I think another thing you guys listening are hearing is that everyone in here said, I wasn’t really like, I’m gonna start a podcast, maybe a few of you, but most everyone in here is like podcasting?
(09:32):
And then the Lord impressed. And that’s what He did for me because my business was like yours, Ashley. It was all social media-based. It was live videos in a Facebook group. I was YouTube-ing.
I thought I was gonna be the next Sunny Lenarduzzy. Please go watch my old YouTube’s and laugh your butt off. Cause I’m like ‘click here for the clickable link in your video.’ It’s so dumb. But God was like, please stop.
You need to stop and you need to pick one thing and you’re gonna use your voice for the thing. And then you guys are hearing that same message.
(10:03):
And so I think that’s so interesting to hear. So what does that look like now, Ashley, before you were always on social, you were doing blogging and doing these things and you felt you were pouring into the hustle?
(10:16):
Has that shifted now that you’ve moved into the podcasting model, where do you feel more free and what does this look like?
(10:23):
Yeah, I mean, I think for me it’s been a huge shift in my own peace in general, I’m an anxious person. And I think for me, I’m a little more vulnerable to that being perpetuated with social media.
(10:34):
And so I think just getting to do my thing in the rare few hours that I have with quiet in my house to podcast and do my work.
And when my kids are here and the noise is happening, I know you really shared this, but just wanted to lose my phone.
(10:49):
And just wanna be in those moments with my kids, I don’t really care about capturing them for someone else to see, I just want them to imprint my heart and if no one else sees it, I’m okay with that.
(10:58):
And I think before it was just in order to grow and to build and do all these things, I have to overextend myself and kind of pawn out what is really special and sacred to me. And I didn’t wanna do that.
(11:10):
And my kids are really young and impressionable and I felt I need to model to them, being driven and goal-oriented, but also having boundaries and like investing in relationships.
(11:21):
And so I felt this whole business model of being so heavily social media-based, I mean, I still do use it business, but I’m okay now being like this is business and this is personal and finding that separation between the two.
(11:35):
So good. I wanna highlight something that Ashley said. She said, want these moments to imprint on my heart and I’m gonna add, instead of my camera roll, I want these moments to imprint on my heart instead of my camera roll.
(11:49):
And I have been there and I have seen the difference when I’m fully in a moment without any thought of capturing the moment. Those are the ones I actually remember. It’s weird.
And so I love that you brought that up cause I know a lot of people needed to hear that Ashley, was it worth it? What are your tactical wins? Tell us some things.
(12:09):
Absolutely. Yeah. So, like I said, I launched my podcast, the date before P2P started and I’ve already hit the top 2% in the world, which is really exciting.
I have episode 12 just came out yesterday and I told myself as soon as P2P ended, I would go to two episodes a week.
(12:27):
So, I’m excited to transition to that. About to hit 10K downloads. So I’m really excited about and I think tactically for me, knowing that I have a course in order.
You helped me work through the framework and we did coaching there and so much support through P2P to really build out that framework rather than trying to build all the things.
And do all the freebies and create all the courses, just really honing in on something.
(12:50):
That’s huge for me because I’m really sad for P2P to end but I’m also really excited because I know I have the foundation for so much work moving forward that I feel really focused.
And so the initial metrics are exciting, but I am kind of like oblivious to ’em honestly because I like that I’m not checking metrics every day.
(13:10):
Exactly.
(13:10):
Just do the work and praying over what God wants me to do.
(13:14):
Amazing. I’m so excited for you. Top 2% with 12 episodes. Holy smokes. 10K downloads. Won’t He do it sister-friend? Just so pumped for you. Last question for you. Where can everyone find your show and what was your funniest or most memorable moment?
(13:31):
So everyone can find me at the Veggies and Virtue podcast. And I also just started a new Facebook group if people want simple meal and snack ideas. But the funniest moment was when I think I was still in P2P, I’d already signed or PPU, but I’d already signed up for P2P.
(13:46):
And I was trying to come up with my podcast name and my business name is Veggies and Virtue, which I liked, but I didn’t know if I should do the same one. And I remember posting, what do y’all think about like kitchen stool called conversations?
(13:56):
Because I really wanted moms to feel like they were… most people on social media have seen the kitchen stools in my kitchen.
I wanted to feel like a friend or a neighbor just pulling up a stool, having a cup of coffee, talking with me like that was the narrative I wanted for the podcast.
(14:09):
Your only comment is no, using the word stool in your podcast name. I’ll never forget that. And as a dietician, I’m comfortable talking about poop, but it never changed my way of thinking about it. I was like, okay, well that just answers it.
(14:25):
It’s the Veggies and Virtue podcast. It will not be the kitchen stool conversation because I will only ever think about what Stef said about stools.
(14:33):
Oh my gosh. That makes me laugh so hard. And you guys know I’m so here for poop, I’ve got the poop mug. All we do is talk about poop in my house. It’s fine.
But what Ashley said that I was like kitchen stool, I think not. And that’s probably why I thought of poop anyway.
(14:47):
And the funny thing it hadn’t even crossed my mind, cause I was so visual, or the visual of a stool kitchen stool conversation sounds so personal. And then I was like, yep, nope, that’s out. Veggies and Virtue podcast it is.
(14:57):
And moving on. Yeah. Oh my gosh. And I think that’s so funny too, cuz before you guys really get to know me, sometimes like I just come at you and I have a one-word, here’s your little sentence, bye. Ashley was probably oh my gosh.
(15:12):
But you have had the perfect balance that my heart needed. And I think my entrepreneurial spirit needed of the really tactical practical, go do this stuff cuz I’m a doer. I wanna do it.
(15:22):
But you have just spoken truth and you’ve brought the authority. And honestly, you’ve just stood with integrity as someone who shines a bright light in a space that… I’ve followed a lot of leaders that I just haven’t clicked with.
(15:35):
And I’m just very thankful that the Lord led me to you when He did and that you were willing to shine your light in a space that it would be really easy not to. So thank you for everything.
(15:43):
Thanks, Ashley. Oh, I’m gonna cry. Thank you, guys. That is so meaningful. So many hugs. I’m so excited for you. Thank are sharing all of that. Beautiful Justine, you are last but not least. Welcome to the show.
(15:59):
Oh, hey! What is there’s even left to say? These incredible women just blow us away constantly.
And I’ve been so blessed by not only you, Stef but by just having this community. I think that’s been one of the biggest things that has stood out to me.
(16:17):
Yeah.
(16:17):
So grateful.
(16:19):
Same. I just watch in awe what God does. Cause I’m just over here facilitating what God’s doing. It’s so fun to watch. So Justine, what is your show and what do you do? Tell us.
(16:33):
So my show is called Courage Queen and it’s how to step into your dreams with faith-filled peace and confidence.
(16:41):
And I actually, unlike, I think a lot of the women that we’re talking to right now, my story’s a little bit different in that I kind of got thrown into podcasting. I was celebrating my one-year anniversary three when I came across your program. And I was like, okay, I’ve tried to do this all myself.
(17:00):
I’d like to say, I’m pretty techy. I had a good first year, I think I had 4,000 downloads in my first year.
And I’m over here thinking that that’s pretty good. I didn’t grow how I thought I would but I also don’t know what I’m doing.
And I’m kind of putting the pieces together and figuring it out as I go.
(17:19):
And then I come flying into the program which I kind of have a funny story about later, but I kind of fly into the program and I realize the blindfold has been taken off.
And I’m wow, the lengths and the exposure that you could get doing things a totally different way that it’s just really hard to figure out on your own.
(17:40):
So I think that in hindsight, I think God’s timing was perfect for when I was supposed to come into it because He had a specific time when I was supposed to enter in.
(17:48):
But at the same time, if you’re waiting and if you’re wondering oh, I’ve already been doing the podcast thing, I’ve already kind of figured out, what more could I learn?
What could she really teach me? Well, a lot, God will humble you real fast on that one.
(18:01):
Oh, so good. So, tell us the story about how you found the program.
(18:08):
It’s so funny. I actually came into the program and I actually already knew three or four of the women that were also in the program at the same time, including Sara on this call because I actually met them through another podcast collaboration Facebook group.
(18:24):
And we had done guests on each other’s podcast. They came on my podcast. And so I already was building these incredible relationships.
And then we end up finding out that we’re in this program together. But what I actually got pitched the program from Lydia, cuz Lydia was in my podcast and I met her through that as well.
(18:40):
And I just have to share something cuz I feel this is just such a powerful little mini, I’m gonna give you the Starbucks skinny on the story. Let’s call it that.
(18:48):
But I was sitting in my office one day and I was thinking about, okay, am I ready to do this program? I felt you really stood out to me as just someone who really owned your weirdness and who I’m coming across, in a good way when I say this.
For sure.
I was like, she’s so quirky and so fun. I felt I could just immediately be friends with you and you not only just kind of owning who you are and authenticity is really big to me.
(19:14):
But you were boldly declaring your faith. And that was something that a lot of the other girls have mentioned, but it was really inspiring and definitely something like, yeah, I’m getting on this train as Stef would say.
So I’m sitting in my office one day and I’m thinking about, okay, should I join P2P?
(19:28):
And I’m praying and I just read a book that was talking about putting out a prayer fleece, which basically is boldly asking God for a sign, which we’re not supposed to be doing all the time, but there’s desperate times called for desperate measures.
(19:42):
And so I’m sitting here and I go, God, if I’m supposed to sign up, I’m gonna pick something so crazy right now. And just see what happens.
I’ve never done anything like this in my life. I’m sitting in my office, it’s on the second floor overlooking my garage and my backyard.
(19:58):
And I say, God, if I’m supposed to join this program right now, this is the right timing for me. This is where you have me. Would you deliver two birds to my window? And I want a blue and a red bird to my window.
(20:14):
And I’m not even joking. So for an hour, I’m looking out the window. It’s a windy wintery day so there’s literally nothing out there.
(20:21):
There’s power lines coming down, it’s nuts. So for an hour, I’m typing on my computer, I look out the window every time you see a leaf fall down or something, I’m like, oh my God, this with the bird. And I’m freaking out. And for two hours I see nothing.
(20:35):
So I go downstairs, I come back up, I get a cup of coffee. I’m sitting at my desk and all of a sudden I hear this really loud tapping.
And I’m like, what the heck is that? So I’m looking out my window and I don’t see anything.
(20:47):
This is so weird. So I stand up and I look directly out my window, which is where I am right now, up to the right. And I’m not even joking you.
There is a blue and a red bird tap, tap, tap in. I’m literally right next to each other, tap, tap, tap in, right on my window.
(21:04):
Seriously, my jaw drops. And I’m like, okay, what in the actual heck is going on right now? I just couldn’t even believe it. How does this even happen? It sounds fake. People will think I made this up.
(21:17):
So I just automatically knew that that was confirmation because a) it had never happened before. And I just am blown away by the details that God will go to these lengths to get your attention.
(21:29):
And so, just a reminder to you, when you don’t feel like you’re ready, when you feel like you’re inadequate, you have to remember that God is bigger than your inadequacies.
(21:39):
And I had to tell myself that through the entire beginning of the program, because was I financially prepared budget-wise to be able to jump into it. I was actually doing another coaching program. And I have three to four different businesses that I do currently.
(21:51):
So I really wasn’t looking to add podcasting in as my big only thing. But I really felt God was calling me to it to compliment what I was already doing.
(22:03):
And I don’t know what God has planned. Maybe that will move into something else, but it was just so exciting to kind of see all of those details of God working behind the scenes. And I just wanna encourage those listening that, these things are not by accident.
(22:17):
God is in the details of your life and He will connect people in. And if he has something on your mind and on your heart, He’s not gonna let you forget about it. Because being obedient, I thought I had to basically accept, that it’s going to be blurry.
(22:32):
The vision is going to be blurry and I had to be okay with choosing to obey anyway, because it didn’t mean that the path was gonna become clear cause I chose to obey.
(22:41):
I just came in and I was like, okay, I’m staying close to my guide. And my guide is the Lord and my guide is Stef and they’re leading me and that’s it.
(22:51):
So good. What’s so fun about that story, one of my things that God always shows me is a blue Jay all the time and the blue Jay will sit in the window or fly across the car and I’m like, oh, hi God!
(23:02):
Nice to see you again. Thanks for confirming that thing that makes me wanna put on my pants cause I’m scared to do it.
(23:07):
Yep. So good.
(23:09):
I love that story. So you are already a podcaster. You had been podcasting for a year. You come in, to this fire hose program.
(23:17):
I know it’s a sprint and a lot of work, but in my opinion, the reason that you guys have so much breakthrough is it forces you to do work that would take you years on your own. Justine, what happened for you? What were those wins?
(23:34):
I was pretty amazed because even in such a short period of time, I saw that my downloads had doubled in just those three short months, I was ranking, which I never had before now we’re overall about 6,000 podcasts.
(23:51):
And it’s just growing at a way faster rate than it did that first year that it was so fun and exhilarating, but it did feel like it was so slow to start because again, I’m kind of like half doing it. I didn’t really know what I was doing. I didn’t really have that direction.
(24:03):
So for those of who that are coming in and saying, I don’t know if I should do this, right at the start of the podcast or if I should jump in weeks after. Yes, you should. If you’re feeling that’s impressed upon your heart, it just puts you in a mindset of that accountability.
(24:19):
We’re on track now to hit 10K probably within the next couple of months because of the growth that we’ve had, even in just these three last months, we’re ranking now I think I’m in the top 100 in Italy, in the education category.
(24:34):
And then, I actually was somebody who we actually changed my category just last week because I was really feeling when I had that one on one time with Stef that I was like, I wanna just really make sure there’s a couple of these things that are still in my mind.
(24:47):
And so I actually switched categories from self-improvement to entrepreneurship. And then with a second leg of Christianity and what’s been interesting is just yesterday I checked and I’m already ranking in top 500 now in Christianity and in business.
(25:05):
And I never mentioned those before. So it’s been a week of just making some of these keyword changes and there’s so many different layers that go into it and strategy that you don’t realize. And you’re slowing down to then speed up.
(25:22):
And really then you’re whoa, what did I just learn? This is crazy.
(25:28):
Yeah.
(25:28):
Speaking of that, those wins are insane. And I want, I can imagine people listening, being like, oh, that’s cool. But there’s no way that I could do all of these things.
I want you to talk for a second, Justine, about the support and the back office, because there’s one thing to have me just train you, and then be like, good luck.
(25:48):
I hope you guys have success, but I didn’t just do that to you. What were the things that came with the program that helped you really make these foundational changes?
(25:59):
That’s such a great point because I had never really gone into a program like this before. I had talked to a lot of women who have done different masterminds and different coaching.
(26:09):
And I was at a time in my life where honestly, I was always afraid to invest. I’m doing good enough. I have three other businesses, they’re obviously successful, but I didn’t really think that the coaching was the answer.
(26:23):
There was a lot of me where I was thinking to myself, okay, I see value in the coaching. I know I can can level up, but when I came in and it was so challenging all at once.
(26:33):
And I mean this in a good way. So I hope people hear my heart on this. It came in and it’s a whirlwind of a lot at once.
(26:39):
And what I realized even in that first week is I had not been challenged like this in so long. And when I looked at it from that perspective of these are the things that are gonna stretch me.
(26:49):
You not only have Stef coaching you and going through all these layers of really detailed, thorough work that I feel I could so easily be skipped over and you didn’t. You touched every single avenue of what needs to be covered. It’s very detailed. And so for my ADD brain, it helped keep me focused.
(27:08):
And then we had our pod breakout groups where we would actually meet. And I know not every pod did this every week, but our pod was meeting in Voxer and talking every day, growing and supporting each other with ideas.
We were meeting once a week for a breakout, just on our own of a group of eight to nine of us, I believe.
(27:25):
Going over all the different things in between the weeks of training so that we could really hash out everything that needed to be hashed out.
(27:32):
We had Lydia doing some incredible office hours on Monday nights where we could come with questions and we could email and tag you guys in the Facebook group.
So it really just filled all of the gaps where insecurity or moments of being unsure about what you’re doing or how you’re gonna pull it all together.
(27:52):
It really filled in all the gaps of that and filled every single area that you would’ve needed to. So I think you’ve just done a fabulous job at that program.
And we were coming to the program where there had been enhancements made as well.
(28:03):
Yeah.
(28:05):
This will continue to make the program even more incredible. So yeah, I’m just really ecstatic about it.
(28:12):
That’s amazing. Thank you so much for sharing all of that, Justine. I’m so excited for your continued growth and for God, just speaking to you and you trusting Him and being part of this with me, it’s been such an honor truly to be able to hang out with you guys.
(28:28):
Y’all have had the biggest breakthroughs, you guys have had such an impression on my heart through this round of Podcast to Profit. And I’ve just absolutely loved every minute of being with you. And I’m excited that we don’t have to be done.
(28:41):
You guys are joining this new thing that we have now called the Podcast to Profit Accountability, Club. So those of you that are joining there is a thing that we keep going forward with each other.
(28:51):
That’s super affordable and super high touch. It’s gonna be really fun. So Justine, where can everybody find your show and connect with you?
(29:01):
So the show is Courage Queen can be downloaded anywhere where you listen to podcasts. I have a Facebook group that is faith-led women taking action on their dreams.
(29:17):
And I’m all over the place. I’m also like Sarah too. I do crazy reels videos. I’m a makeup artist and Airbnb host and all that crazy stuff so I kind of do a little bit of everything and just keep it fun.
(29:29):
She does. She’s that entrepreneur who’s got it all. I love it. You guys thank you so much for blessing us today. And I just am so honored to have been your coach and mentor through this process and I’m cheering for you. I’m praying for you.
(29:42):
Let’s just keep that growth going partnered with God. If those testimonies and stories did not absolutely blow your mind and touch your heart, I give up. I don’t even know what else to say at this point, but go God. This is one of your final calls.
(30:07):
If after hearing this, you feel convicted, I want you to take a big leap of faith with me. I want you to lean into the yes. And I want you to know that making every effort is said at least eight times in the New Testament. Saying yes, without knowing the outcome is the ultimate act of faith.
(30:25):
I am praying so hard for the last few of you that I know God has in store for this program, because I feel very sure and very confident that He has a select group of people who are meant to walk this out with me over the next 90 days. And I know that if you are hearing this and that is landing for you, that it is for you.
(30:46):
And I pray that you say yes to me. Let’s make this effort together to make this thing hte thing that can absolutely allow you to step into your calling work, to allow your voice to be heard and allow you to make a difference in the people’s lives that you are called to help.
