(00:01)
What’s up girl. Welcome back to another episode of the show. Today, I’m going to give you secrets of a 50% pt-in 50% opt in freebie landing page that I have set up and how you can take all of these hacks to now create an amazing tool that will convert viewers into email list subscribers, and then ultimately new customers and a whole bunch of brand new Lola’s for you and your brand and business. I can’t wait to dig in.
(01:45)
All right, before we check into how the heck to get up to 50% conversion rate on our freebies and lead magnets, I want to read you the review of the week titled the most beautiful mix of marketing mompreneurship and faith five stars by Stephanie Robles. I’ve listened to Stefanie’s show since December of 2018. And I absolutely love listening to the mompreneur podcast. Stefanie has a beautiful way of sharing all things, marketing mindset and mom partnership in such an easy listening way. And there’s always such good implementational information here.
(02:20)
She gives you not only feel good stuff, but action items you can walk away with. I seriously feel like someone gets me as a momprenuer I love that she puts God at the center of her business and shows us faith-based business. How it’s done. Thank you, Stef, for helping us mompreneurs and pushing us to keep going. Oh, Stephanie Robles. Thank you, girlfriend. And Hey mama, have you left a review yet? Because I want to read yours live on the air. Seriously.
(02:46)
I love highlighting and showcasing all of my amazing Lola’s and if I’ve helped you in any way, that’s the number one way you can thank me, head on over to iTunes, scroll down and then click write a review. And don’t forget to subscribe to the show because that’s how you’re going to know when I drop a new episode early, because I often drop it the night before. Okay. Let’s dig into this gold. How did I get a 50 plus percent opt-in rate on my latest downloadable freebie?
(03:17)
As of right now, this second, as I record this, my subscription rate is 50.13% opt-in that means out of every two people that land on this page, one of them will opt in. I have been an entrepreneur for seven years and the best opt-in I’ve ever had is probably 35%. And so my mind is absolutely blown out of my skull. And I had to put together for you what I did, because I want you to have this same success. So first of all, let me explain to you what this is.
(04:09)
A freebie or opt-in is something you gift that provides a solution to your Lola, your ideal avatar in exchange for them gifting you their email address to receive it. Okay? And that means that person is now on your list. You can cultivate and nourish them and send them podcast episodes or blog episodes, or videos that will solve their problems with casual mentions of what you sell. So I created a podcast launch checklist for my Lola, knowing that she’s curious about podcasting, she’s interested in that, but she doesn’t really know like how to set up for success.
(04:43)
How can she scale organically? How can she grow her show from zero? She needs to know all of the setup, hacks, all of the launch strategies that I’ve given my students who are launching top 30 shows, right? They have the social proof to prove that my solution works. So I put together a checklist. It is three pages of actual content that she can follow. And then at the end of the checklist, I have some other call to actions for her, how to come listen to two live coachings on my show, some more podcasting resources for her.
(05:14)
And ultimately I want her to come and check out my webinar on how to set up a scalable podcast that you will never have to put paid traffic towards unless you want to. So I’m sending her through the checklist and then she goes on to the next phase of the funnel, which is the webinar and all the other free stuff like the podcasting related coaching sessions on my show, et cetera. And then I linked it up to a landing page. It’s insane to get 50% opt-ins. So let’s talk about some failed freebies that I’ve created in my past. And then I’ll take you through the six steps or hacks that have gotten me this incredible subscription rate.
(05:56)
Some failed ones that I have done are fancy handbooks. I had a handbook when I first started y’all that was like 13 or 14 pages. It had all the clickable links and embedded videos. And that thing totally bombed. I’ve had quizzes that have not bombed, but they’re barely scraping by. I have like a passive income quiz. I think it has 12% opt-in crazy, right? I’ve had webinars where I’ve sent the traffic directly to webinars before and gotten to 7% opt-in.
(06:29)
So there are many different things that never did as well as this that were so much more in-depth and fancy, and took me way longer to create for me, if I am not getting over a 15% subscription rate, it’s not even worth driving traffic there personally. Okay. Cause driving traffic takes money, time, effort, energy, and I want something that’s going to work and scale and really provide a solution. If they’re not opting in for this thing, it’s either because my product sucks. Let’s get honest. I like the free gift.
(07:03)
They’re like, I don’t actually want that. Or the landing page is a mess and they can’t figure out how the heck to opt in or whatnot. So let’s go through why these opt-ins did not work first. Then I’m gonna take you through what you can do to hopefully get a 50% opt-in. So why did these not work? They were too complicated. In my handbook, I had about 13 different solutions for the network marketer and it was too much okay. When somebody comes and they say, I want a solution. It’s overwhelming to hear 13 different solutions for 13 different problems in one opt-in.
(07:38)
You think, Oh, if I throw in the kitchen sink, for sure, they’re going to opt in and I want this thing, right? That was me being a new entrepreneur and putting way too much thought and overthinking it. So it was too complicated. The second one it’s unclear. So I had a webinar that was like how to infuse attraction marketing, you know, online or something. And it was like super vague. So it was unclear like, well, what’s the actual solution this gets me?
(08:06)
And I think that opt-in would have been much more successful if I had titled it something like how to generate more sales using storytelling on social media. Here is a simplified training technique you can use to grow your network marketing business. Right? So give the part, they didn’t give people the solution upfront. It was too vague and floaty and nobody wants vague and floaty. If they’re going to give you their email address, you better be giving them a tangible solution that they can implement right now today.
(08:42)
All right, next one. Too cumbersome. I think one of the reasons that one of my quizzes, ultimately isn’t converting very well in this quiz is because it’s too cumbersome to get to it. So they get to the landing page. They have to scroll all the way down. Then they have to expand the window to see the whole quiz. Like you’ve already lost me when I have to scroll down, I’m done. I have like two seconds of patience. How about you? So too cumbersome. Okay. Some of the other ones that have failed have failed because the landing page was too long. The landing page had like storytelling and testimonies.
(09:20)
By the time they got down to the place where they put in their email address, they were already phased out. Their kid was already in the room asking them to open the fruit snacks. You feel me? So again, two seconds, we are like squirrels. We have the worst squirrel brain that has ever existed. I believe in today’s day and age because of social media, because we’re looking for instant gratification, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. So it was too long. I actually had too much fluff. Now, the last reason I think that these failed is some of them were just too dang fancy.
(09:50)
Again, who am I talking to? I’m talking to Lola. Lola is normal. She’s a normal chick, she’s a mama. She’s got a messy mom bun. And she’s in her minivan dropping one kid off at preschool and then carpooling the other kid to football practice. She’s trying to grab a Starbucks in between. And like, she’s not all fancy pants. She is us. Am I right? She needs to do her eyebrows. Her nails are looking a hot mess unless she glued on them, press ons from the dollar store, feel me, which I actually have on right now and they look phenomenal. PS, just saying.
(10:21)
So it was too fancy. It didn’t resonate with my avatar is kind of the bottom line there. All right. So that was all of the things that didn’t work. Let’s talk about why this specific free checklist and landing page is converting like gangbusters. Number one, it gives a clear solution. A super clear solution. Let me actually pull this up so I can talk you guys through the solution. Okay. In this PDF, you will find everything you need to know to go from idea to execution of your very own show, snag the ultimate podcast launch checklist. What is it?
(11:04)
It is a checklist to help you launch your podcast. People try to get all fancy pants like the strategic podcast, SEO strategy form, like what? Right. Don’t get fancy because you want to be catchy, be so blatant. And this is the same training that I give you for, like that sentence in your Instagram bio for titling your podcast, for coming up with SEO in all of the descriptions and copy that you write, be clear as day, not clear as mud about what is the solution. So it gives a super clear solution.
(11:36)
Number two, it is in high demand. People can find out how to start a podcast by going to Google, right? How to start a podcast, get a microphone, sit behind the microphone, record the show, figure out a podcasting host and then upload your first episode, well you’ve started a podcast. Okay. But what people don’t understand is the psychology behind growing a podcast that will scale organically, utilizing SEO and keywords and titling and launch strategy. They’re like, Whoa, there’s a way to launch and scale my show the right way.
(12:09)
And there’s also a way that I can just launch a show and then have it sit there and have no one find it and have no one listen. And I want to grow my show and really make it successful. So there’s a huge demand for this solution. Number three, it is so simple and clear. It’s almost like dumbed down. Like I said earlier, like, what is it? It is a podcast checklist. Okay. So when you’re creating your opt-in it’s imperative that you title and put as your tagline, the solution and super, super clearly state what it is.
(12:48)
So for example, if you’re creating a mindset workbook for someone as your freebie, I wouldn’t call it like, re-energize your mindset that is too vague. Nobody’s going to click it. Nobody’s going to want that. Okay. What they do want is download this free workbook on how to revitalize your mindset so that you feel happy, confident, and clear as you tackle your day to day business and motherhood goals, you will find three tactical implementation tips you can do right now today to transform your mindset as a mama, like give them clarity.
(13:30)
So now they know what is it? It’s a workbook. Why to transform my mindset, how through three tactical implementational steps you can take today. Like you are basically slapping them with a promise right there. And you can look at it and you’re going to go, Holy smokes. That is so boring, Stefanie. And I’m going to tell you right back, that’s exactly why it’s converting. I cut out all of the fluffy duffy stuff that doesn’t bring people results. Okay. Number four, it’s congruent. It is similar to all of the traffic driving to the landing page.
(14:16)
So here’s something that has held me up or kept me stuck in the past. I created something free for them as their opt-in and it looked like one thing, okay. It was black and it had me on it and it had my branding. And then they got the landing page and the landing page was purple. And it had a different picture of me and it had different verbiage. They’re like, what is this the same thing I’m gone? So this one, it has the same text, the same photo that I’m using in the Facebook ad to drive traffic here. It also has the same photo that I’m using in my blog call to actions with the same verbiage.
(14:53)
So people see the call to action in the blog post. They say, Oh, I want that when they click on it and they end up here on this landing page, it looks exactly the same. So their experience is going to be congruent. It’s the same product. Oh, I want it. I still want it. And it’s easy to get it, if that makes sense. So make sure that your landing page, the branding and the clarity and the messaging is the same as however you’re driving traffic to your landing page. For me with this one specifically, I’m using a Facebook ad strategy and a Pinterest ad, and it’s the call to action in every single blog post.
(15:32)
When you click on it, it brings you to the landing page, same verbiage, same picture, same colors in your mind. You’re still having the same experience and there’s no differentiator causing you to click away. Number five is that I actually did the opposite of what every expert on funnels has ever told me to do. And I didn’t offer a pop-up it’s simply a good old fashioned form box put in your first name, put in your email. And I think that is what people are craving now is like, just give me what I want. Give me the solution. And don’t try to dazzle me.
(16:28)
I know for me, I’m just like, if I want something, just give me the box to plug my email in and send it over. You know what I’m saying? So I think simplifying even the opt in process itself was so important. And the last hack, number six, apparently there’s six of these plus I have a bonus tip for you. So stick with me. I had to make it ridiculously simple, which is kind of the same as having like a simple box to actually opt in. But the entire page itself is simple.
(17:04)
It’s white, all white. Okay. It has my logo at the top. It has very basic font. It’s not super hard to read. It’s all above the fold. So what that means is you get the entire page, including the copy and the photo and the opt-in form without having to scroll down, insanity. There’s nothing fancy. There’s no fancy videos and testimonies, none of that because it’s just a free checklist. Okay. For my sales pages, of course, that’s going to be very copy heavy and have all the stories. But I think I was just, over-complicating the actual landing pages for the free stuff.
(17:41)
So everything is above the fold. I personally am like, this is super boring, but I think again, people are craving simplicity. Now, as we get more and more convoluted and as like stuff gets more and more fancy, give me the solution. Give me the clear copy. Take me to my end result. And let me see what the heck I’m getting before I ever gift you my email address. All right. So those are gonna be your six tips for how I created and hopefully how you can create a 50% freebie often to grow your email list. Now, how do I drive traffic here? This is your bonus tip.
(18:14)
I set up a Facebook ad and it’s running through Instagram and Facebook. And Instagram is actually where it took off. It’s a picture of the checklist and it has a story about podcasting being kind of confusing, how to launch it, draws them in using the ISTC formula. Hint, hint, hint, which you can go listen to over at. Let me tell you episode 104 okay. The ISTC formula. It grabs their attention as storytellers and it gives tangible tips. Then it gives the call to action, grab this checklist and insanity. I have this thing converting at a dollar six per click.
(18:49)
So when somebody sees the ad, they click on it and it takes them to the landing page. And then 50% of those people opt in, which means I’m getting about a $2 opt-in from this ad. And the beauty of that is that I am offering a thank you page upsell. If you want to know what that is, and it completely covers my Facebook ad costs. So I’m growing my list for free, and I’m funneling people into Podcast Pro University by using this thank you page upsell.
(19:27)
Basically I am offering them a promotion on my mini course Plan Your Podcast, which I don’t promote because it is just an opt-in upsell, but that course takes people through the beginning stages of the master course. And ultimately they want the whole course, right? So hello, like so simple. And the beauty of this is I just now figured this out. And so y’all seven years in, okay. As an entrepreneur, two years into this business specifically, and just now, like a month ago finally got an opt-in to really convert. Finally got my ads fully covered and finally have a funnel setup that brings in a lot of traffic to my master course, mind blowing.
(20:21)

(20:56)
You guys, that is totally my jam. And sometimes the really great coaching calls get aired on this podcast. So hint, hint, if you want to be a guest on the show and have your coaching session go live, that is totally a possibility. All right, Sis, I just want to pray over you right now that you find the words to resonate with your human. I pray you have clarity on what she’s struggling with today that you’re able to put yourself inside of her shoes.
