You Can Grow Your Business and Still Create Balance in Your Life
1. How do you find time to dedicate time to your business when you have kids at home?
Be intentional with creating your schedule and time block of when you can work. Be realistic with the season you are in and don’t expect more of yourself than what you are able to give. Have conversations with your kids about when your time blocks are and when they will get your time. Set the expectations so they don’t expect more of you. If they are younger, spend your work time while they are napping or in the mornings or evenings while they are in bed. This is the easiest way to create balance in your schedule so you can put time towards all the things that matter to you!
Ask for help! Do you have a spouse that can help? Can you do a playdate trade with someone that is near you?
Sometimes your mindset just needs to be adjusted to your kids’ needs. Look at the season you are in and pray for the Lord to create balance and carve out extra time in your week for the things that you need to do in your business and trust that He will.
Sometimes you are positioned in a season to not do what you want to do. Have peace and grace over that.
2. What boundaries do you have in place for spending time with your family that are non-negotiable?
Boundaries may need to be stretched in certain circumstances to create balance but they are few and far between.
High touch points are non-negotiable.
Breakfast with my boys
Dinner time with my family
Most kids don’t need you all of the time, they need pockets of time with you that are intentional and quality time that are 100% focused on them.
Weekends
I only work on weekends when I want to
Vacations
I make sure I take them so I have 10-14 days with my family where that is the only focus
I wake up at 5:30 in the morning and have God time. That means I am in scripture and doing a devotional from Daily Grace Co., and I pray, and journal.
Get the kids up, have breakfast, and get them off to school, then I sit down for a power hour and get all the small tasks done.
Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday are client days.
Wednesdays my boys have a short day at school so that is my project day and that is when I do my podcasts for the next week.
Thursdays are dedicated to Podcast to Profit, my 90-day mastermind for podcasters to scale and monetize their show
Fridays are cleared out and are more of a team day or project day. Fridays have opened up for me to be able to focus on growing the needle in my company.
I usually work from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm and then pick up the kids and do family stuff.
I may pick up another work hour later in the evening.
This schedule helps me create balance so I can focus on my family, my business, and my faith. No one part feels like it dominates the rest.
4. How do you streamline your business tasks enough to run a solopreneur business until you can afford help and not feel like it is consuming all your time and energy?
What are you doing on social media that doesn’t need to be done?
What can you cut out?
You have a funnel with your audience, which then moves to leads (people captured) then they move into paid students or clients. You don’t actually need new products. Stop creating new things and start working on moving the people you already have through the funnel.
5. How do you smash big goals without sacrificing presence?
How are you prioritizing your family over your business? Let go of a timeline, a pressure, or an outcome that is time sensitive. How can you focus on the three things you need to do today and then bless it and release it?
Create a plan that supports the season you are in and make sure you are focusing on what you can do today then move on to what God has you focused on. Let go of that mom guilt and focus on what God has called you to. You are called to do great things! By creating balance in your life you will be able to get more done in your day and see your business grow to new levels.
Are you going through a difficult season? You can find joy and success in these seasons when you look at scripture and can honor your trials and the struggles that come your way.
Today we are talking about time wasters. One of the common things that you all bring up is that you don’t have enough time to work on your business. You wish you had more time.
