Discerning the right career path for your calling can be very overwhelming. Maybe you have tried your hand at everything under the sun but can’t get clarity on what your calling should be or look like. You are not alone. I have experienced this firsthand and I have come up with 5 steps for you to discern the right career path for yourself and the next steps to make it happen. Get ready to take some notes and let’s get ready to create a game plan for your next 90 days and determine your next move!
How to Know if You Are on the Right Career Path for What God Is Calling You to Do
If you are asking yourself, “What direction should I go with my career path?” I want you to know that the outcome will feel very unclear at first. As you start moving forward in your purpose and calling, remember God has a plan! You may not understand it right now, but He has it under control. If you follow these 5 steps, you will know what direction you should be going in according to what God has planned for you.
These steps were created to push you out of your comfort zone, but once you get through the first 90 days of following these steps, you will better understand the right career path for your calling.
1. Pray for clarity about your calling and career path
We have to invite God into the process!! You have to pray daily that God will join you in the process of figuring out what career path you should be following according to HIS will, not your own. Remember, our God is not a God of confusion. He knows exactly what skill He has given you and how you should be using it. Talk with Him daily and walk this journey with Him. Doing this your way will continue to produce results of uncertainty and confusion. Trust Him and talk with Him daily!
2. Take Inventory of your assets
If you have tried your hand at everything out there, but are still feeling confused about what it is you should be focusing on, take comfort that most of us have been on that road as well. The good news is, you are good at a lot of things!
I want you to take inventory of your skills, trials, triumphs, spiritual gifts, and vocational gifts, (leadership, writing, speaking) and find your core common denominator. What is the one thing that you excel at? If you still need help figuring this part out, check out my course, Clarify Your Calling, and let me help you!
3. Map out your 5-tier brand map
Once you know the direction you are going with your business, you will need to map out exactly what your business is going to look like. This will include your podcast title, tagline, and a description that explains your offer, pillars, and niche market. Again, if you need help, head over to Clarify Your Calling and let me help you on this journey.
4. Choose the outlet to serve
This is not where you focus on earning money. Instead, this is where you focus on serving people. Do you want to start a podcast? I hope your answer is yes! Or is it speaking? Blogging? Video? We all have different skills, and one of these will be your preference.
I love the podcasting route because it’s quick, it’s on my terms, and it’s how I grow and how I sell. Look for clues that will lead you to the outlet you should be focusing on once you do step 2 and take inventory of your common denominator on what makes you who you are.
5. Focus on service for 90 days
Serve others for 90 days with whatever outlet you chose! Create exceptional content for 90 days and then look at where you are in your business. You CAN NOT put money before service! This will go against everything the world and your gut tell you. You have to trust that serving will guide you to the clarity you need, to know how to monetize your business. You have to be willing to help others first because this is God’s way, not the world’s way.
The world will tell you that you need to earn all the money first and serve later. You have to trust God in this process, and He will lead you where you need to be. Once you start serving others, they will begin asking you for your next step. This may be in the form of a Bible study, a course, a book, or even coaching!
I hope this helps you discern the next steps you should be taking for your specific career path! If you are stuck, I can help you. Check out Clarify Your Calling. The investment will be worth it.
I pray this blesses you!

Stef
