5-Tier Brand Map For Your Online Business
What is the vision for your online business?
First things first. In order to get some direction on where you want your brand to go, you need to sit down and figure out what your vision is. Knowing exactly who your audience is, and what you are doing to help them are some of your starter questions. You want to figure out how to stand out from the rest and be different.
1.Identify your content pillars
Determining your content pillars is vital. You want to list 3-5 pillars or topics that you will be covering in detail throughout your podcast episodes and products. Sit down and write a list of categories that you will be focused on consistently. Which ones make the most sense to be overarching themes which all of your episodes will fall under?
2.Write your “I help” statement
You need to create a one-line sentence that sums up exactly who you help and how you help. Often this can be something like, “I help ________ do/become/get __________ so they can __________.”
For my own example, I could write, “I help Christian entrepreneurs start a podcast so they can make more income and impact.”
Once you come up with your “I help” statement, you can often shorten it up to become part of your tag line. Get down to the nitty-gritty of what you do and who you serve so it can direct all of your episode topics and products and services. Write out a few different statements and speak them out loud to see which one feels better, or better yet, do some market research and ask your niche market. This specific statement might be placed in your Instagram bio or website header.
3. Determine your podcast name and tagline
This part of your podcast strategy should be super simple. You’ll already have done the hard work when figuring out the “I help” statement. Shortening your “I help” statement will give you your tagline. You will want to include who this specific podcast is for and the promise you will deliver between the title and tagline.
For example, if you know you want to reach out to all the mamas out there looking for simple routines while managing their debt, you might say something like, “simplify your home, create routines and get out of debt.” You will always want to keep in the forefront of your mind who your podcast is aimed towards.
When it comes to picking out your podcast title, you want to create something that will be easy to find with an SEO phrase. You can use your tagline and just add your name to it to make it more personal. For example, “Simple Living for Families.”
4. Write out your podcast description
Your podcast description is a short snippet that introduces you and your podcast. In order to get this 45-second intro going, I recommend writing down who you are and where you came from. What is the reason you decided to start an at-home business? Why do you want to share your skill with others? Add all of this info in your description and invite your listeners to join you for the ride. By sharing who you are, where you came from, and how you are able to help others, others will see you as more relatable.
5. Plan and record your first few podcast episodes
The first and most important podcast episode is going to be talking about who you were in your past! The person you are now and the skill you have to offer people is not the person that all your listeners are able to relate to. Explain how you used to feel so they trust that you understand their current situation and that you have the solutions for them.
For the next several episodes, start with all of the elementary concepts. If, for example, you are telling them to simplify their scheduling process but they don’t have one yet, your podcast won’t do them any good. Start with elementary concepts that are basic so you can build your listeners up to who they can become. Go back to your earliest pain points and talk about what you needed at that time. Include keywords and popular search words in the titles of your episodes.
A good guide to follow would be to start with your story, why this podcast, what changed, and then an assessment of your story. Once you write down an assessment about why you needed a change in your life, that alone should give you plenty of episodes to work from. Remember to include homework or calls to action for your listeners each time. Don’t give your listeners everything in one episode. You want to stretch this part out as much as possible.
I hope this blessed you and you now have a better understanding of how to map out your podcast strategy. Once you have created the details of your online business brand, the rest should fall into place.
I pray this blesses you!
Xo,
Stef
