defeat the enemy, strongholds and spiritual warfare
Hey Friend!
Are you a Christian entrepreneur or one in the making? I see you! You are on this pursuit of purpose, you are seeking what you are called to do, in order to make it your life’s work. While walking this journey, if I have learned anything, it’s that God has to be front and center. In your life, and in your business. When we surrender to God and let Him lead, we find a way no matter what we come against. So, if you are ready to walk on heaven’s timeline and partner with God, you are in the right place! Read on to discover 8 Bible verses I believe are essential as a Christian entrepreneur.
8 Must-Know Bible Verses for the Christian Entrepreneur
To get the most out of these bible verses, I want you to stop. To lay down busy, the to-do list, the distraction and just soak in God’s word. Take the next few minutes while you read this blog to enjoy spending this time with Him.
I pray that whatever you need to hear from these eight bible verses will rest easy with you and find its way into your spirit. I pray that you will be encouraged, gather wisdom, and hear from God in a new and exciting way.
1. Proverbs 10:4
“Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.” – Proverbs 10:4
It is so important we work for our desired results. We need to show excellence in whatever we are doing. It doesn’t matter what we are doing, from the least paying job to a multi-million dollar CEO, we are told diligent hands bring wealth.
It really is the contrast between laziness and persistence. A lazy person brings so much pain upon themselves, whereas a hardworking person has a better chance of success. Success might be money but it also might be wisdom, God’s provision, or God’s favor. It depends on where you are and what God has in store for you. But what it means is if you work hard in the thing God has called you to do, you are glorifying Him by doing that.
2.1 Peter 4:10
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” – 1 Peter 4:10
This bible verse promises that you have a gift and that you should be using that gift to serve others because we are faithful stewards of God’s grace. We are so blessed to receive God’s grace! We fail every day, but it’s okay because God still loves us and forgives us. God is our encourager. He’s here with us, guiding, leading, and mentoring us. We are so grateful and blessed to get His grace every day! The least we can do is show up in our gifting and bless people.
Remember, your business isn’t about you, nor is it about money or even about growth. As a Christian entrepreneur, your business is about how you can show up today in your God-given gifting and serve.
3. Proverbs 23:7
“As I think in my heart, so am I.” – Proverbs 23:7
Your thoughts can be the number one driver of or the detriment to your success. What do your thoughts speak to you when you are alone? Are they speaking life to you or death? We must partner with God to discern our thoughts, take them captive and renew our minds. Because we become what we think. Inventory your heart, take captive your thoughts, and be mindful of what you are allowing yourself to think and say to yourself. Walk out God’s truth for you instead of your truth.
4. Colossians 3:23-24
“Whatever you do, work heartily for the Lord and not for men, knowing from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.” – Colossians 3:23-24
Whatever you do, do it for God, not for man. So, when you show up on your podcast, who cares what people think?! Say whatever God planted in your heart; say whatever you need to say. Be the vessel and light you are called to be. Anything you do throughout your day, from creating a beautiful house, working on your business, cooking a meal, to having a hard conversation with a loved one, should be done for the glory of God.
So how do we live this, doing everything for God’s glory? A great way to think about this is to imagine how you would act if Jesus were in the room right now. Ask yourself, what would you say, think, be? Next, embody that truth every single day. Simply do whatever it is for God.
That will also relieve any pressure you might feel right now from fear of failure or judgment. Who cares what others think? You’re not starting your podcast or your business for them; you are doing it for God. And, because of this, you will receive the inheritance of salvation, heavenly treasure.
5. Proverbs 16:3
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do and He will establish your plans”. – Proverbs 16:3
Friend, we don’t have to do this by our own strength. We don’t have to walk this alone. As Christian entrepreneurs, we don’t have to sit in confusion, overwhelmed, overthinking, over functioning. It’s very simple, commit everything to the Lord.
For me that looks like: surrender it, pray over it, give it to God. Do this for anything and everything you do, and God will establish your plans. We all want God to establish our plans, but first, we have to do the hard thing of committing them to Him.
One important thing to note when reading scripture is if there is an if-then statement. An if-then statement is when God says, “if you do __, then I’ll do ____.” These are super helpful when applying scriptures to your life because they say do or don’t do something, then this is what will happen.
6. James 2:26
“Faith without works is dead”. – James 2:26
You can’t just pray for the breakthrough, the client, or the success. Don’t just pray to start, to have consistency, or have confidence, but you also have to take action. You need to develop a plan and then see it through. You have to begin and be willing to fail. Fear or excuses are from the enemy. God is not a God of confusion; He is a God of conviction. So, we have to have faith, and then we have to work it out.
7. Mark 8:36
“For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?” – Mark 8:36
This verse is such a good gut check! Take time to reflect, am I running this business the world’s way or God’s way? If you are doing it the world’s way, you begin to forfeit your soul. You lie, steal, cheat, strive, hustle, have idols, and put everything above God. When we do this, we begin to trade our souls for profit. But when it’s all over, we leave this world with nothing.
When we get to the gates of heaven, we want to have done this God’s way, so we don’t forfeit everything. Remember, our time on earth is only for a moment. So how do we do this in God’s way? We discern and inventory all of our choices, lay everything at His feet, come back to all these verses, and ensure God is at the center of it.
I also want to remind you are human, and you will slip and find yourself idolizing something. Take it captive, lay it down, surrender it, and then let it go. Be free from it. Talk to God about it when you sin, pray for forgiveness, and then turn away. Turn away from that sin, that idol, that way of living, and be free.
8. Proverbs 3:13
“Happy is the man who finds wisdom and the man who gains understanding.” – Proverbs 3:13
In order to be happy, you’ve got to be a lifelong learner. You need to have an open heart and an open mind to receive more and more wisdom. So how do you get more wisdom? Wisdom comes from scripture, being in a relationship with Christ, listening when Christ speaks to you by the Holy Spirit or through others, and most importantly, applying what you learn.
I pray these Bible verses blessed you and encouraged you as a Christian entrepreneur. I pray that you walk out of your God-gifted calling, God’s way in all wisdom and understanding. You don’t have to do this journey alone. Allow Him to guide you and establish your plans as you work hard to bring glory to His name.
