1. Surrender control so you can follow God’s plan
I get it, this is super hard! It’s not easy to give complete control over our circumstances to God, especially when things are already hard and we’re scared. When I’m struggling to give control up to God, I come back to Jeremiah 10:23, which says:
“I know, Lord, that our lives are not our own. We are not able to plan our own course.”
God’s plan is so much bigger than anything we can imagine. We play a small part in a big Kingdom vision, and it’s impossible for us to know the details of that! Every success, every road bump, and every setback is all orchestrated for God’s glory.
2. Stop focusing on the outcome and follow God’s plan
You are never going to know the outcome of a situation. Life is not clear cut and it is impossible to truly know how things are going to work out. So when we start to focus only on outcomes, we begin to direct our steps instead of letting God guide our path. Instead, we should focus on the purpose, the calling, and the direction God has for us.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make straight your path.” -Proverbs 3:5-6
3. Follow God’s plan by releasing the “how”
This does not mean we don’t take action in our businesses. But it does mean we wait on the Lord to give us the direction we need to go in. There are so many hard parts in life and business, but if we release the “how” and let Holy Spirit guide us, it becomes clear and easy! Remember this promise from Philippians:
“I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” – Philippians 4:13
Notice that it doesn’t say some things. It says all things. Through God’s strength, we can achieve any goal that He lays out for us!
4. Know there will be bumps in the road
Bumps and hurdles can be the most fear-inducing part of any journey. That’s why these Bible verses for fear are so important! Just because we are following God’s plan, it doesn’t mean everything will always be sunshine and rainbows. We live in a broken world and there is a spiritual battle taking place. We are going to come against opposition and face trials. But be encouraged by this verse from James!
“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trials because having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love Him.” – James 1:12
5. Live with excited anticipation as you follow God’s plan
Through every hardship, there is another side. Even when the pain seems too overwhelming to see that there can be any good coming out of it, remind yourself that every dark moment has a bright side. I know, it’s easy to feel discouraged in those moments, but remember… God is good all the time.
When we find ourselves wondering what miracle God is preparing through a season of hard, here is a Bible verse for fear to inspire us:
“Rejoice in hope. Be patient in tribulation. Be constant in prayer.” – Romans 12:12
6. Keep God first and renew your mind daily
The easiest way to fall away from trusting God’s plan is to stop partnering with God and to start leaning in on worldly solutions. When anxiety is high and finances are in trouble, it’s so easy to look for other solutions. But God is the only one who can fix our circumstances! Take encouragement from Isaiah 40:31, which says:
“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not grow faint.”
When we start feeling weary in our business journeys, we need to ask ourselves if we’ve been renewing our minds and seeking God to renew our strength. Remember, Romans 12:2, which says:
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
7. Trust that God will equip you in His timing
When we follow God’s plan, we can take comfort in knowing that He has a time for every part. But we also must trust that He will reveal each part inHistime and that we will be equipped for it! Although we may not feel ready for the next step, He will provide us with the courage and provision we need.
“For everything, there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven.” – Ecclesiastes 3:1
If we are citizens of Heaven, we are on God’s timeline. He will equip us exactly when it is needed to fit perfectly into His plan.
Reflect on these Bible verses for fear when the path ahead feels uncertain
God does not want us to be afraid. He wants us to be at peace with His calling for our lives. As we follow God’s plan, there may be moments when we are tempted to let our anxieties overcome us, but return to these Bible verses for fear and be encouraged! Let the Lord fill us with courage as we follow the paths He has laid out for us.
