Have you found that it is difficult to trust God when life gets hard? Being able to trust God is easy until your life gets crazy and something comes and knocks you out. Trusting God becomes the last thing on your mind as you battle to not be overcome by anxiety, complete overwhelm, or fear. I’m sharing six Bible life lessons from Proverbs to help you to trust God no matter what hardship you are facing.
6 Bible Life Lessons From Proverbs to Help You Learn to Trust God
I recently went through something very hard with one of my kids. It left me asking some big questions. How do I trust God with my son? How do I keep my trust in God in this world that we live in? It had me struggling to trust God’s plan for my son’s life and His protection over him.
I have always been a prayer warrior for my kids and I have always had audacious faith, but what I began to realize as I walked through this hard thing with my son was that I wasn’t fully trusting that God had a plan and that He is unshakable and steadfast.
1. Soak in His wisdom
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do and He will show you what path to take.” Proverbs 3:5-6
Have you ever sat with the depth of those words? There is something divine about letting a verse wash over you and experiencing God’s wisdom as a simple word comes into your heart and completely challenges or changes you.
2.Deepen your trust in Him for every area of your life
Not just with one part of your life, trust in Him with all your heart, every area of your life
How do we deepen trust?
Ask God to show you how to trust Him with all of your heart.
Lean into the complete place of surrender.
3. Let go of control
Know that your own understanding is limited.
Let go of the control that you have to know, or have to make a certain amount of money, or that you have to be able to do something specific that seems impossible.
The truth is that it is impossible alone. That is the whole point of being a Christian. It is learning dependence on Him. It is letting go of the human nature of control and of being so fiercely independent that we don’t need anyone else.
4. Seek His will, not yours
Ask Him what He wants you to do and then be obedient to it.
Acknowledge that your will is limited and often leads you astray.
The ultimate act of trust is being willing to surrender your desire and letting God have His will because His plans are better than yours.
5. Let Him show you what path to take
Learn to let go and not depend on your own thoughts.
God wants to teach you how to seek His will and refine you, so ask Him to reveal His plan and how He wants you to grow.
Be open and obedient when He shows you what path to take.
6. Keep your eyes on Him and acknowledge Him on the other side of your hardship
“I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” Psalms 16:8
Remember that your steadfast trust in Him will see you to the other side.
God is good, He is faithful, and He loves you more than you could ever know.
He always helps you through to the other side.
Following these Bible life lessons will help you learn to trust God no matter what life throws your way. I pray this blesses you and helps you to follow the path that God has for your life so you can see His will be accomplished in your life.
I pray this blesses you!
