This airs on a Friday and I have kids’ sports, church, and family stuff going on. What I love about this business is I am able to sell with soul here on the podcast. I don’t have to be “on” 24/7 during my family time. It doesn’t have to encroach on our plans. This podcast does the selling for me.
This podcast is what allows me to connect with you, give you tons of free value and help you get results, become friends with you, and nurture you, so whenever you are ready to move forward with me, you’ll already know the offers I have. You can choose to join whenever the season is right for you.
It’s the most no-pressure sales I’ve ever done. Yet, it converts higher than any other sales method I’ve used in my sales career, which is almost 12 years. I want you to understand that selling shouldn’t be stressful. I want you to see that there are reasons you should be selling. In fact, I want you to get confident and comfortable selling ASAP because I believe that selling is actually a responsibility we have as Kingdom entrepreneurs to help people get the result they are seeking in all the wrong places. We can provide them with a Christ-centered way that will glorify Him. Getting people to pay you for something that’s a solution they want allows them to show up for it. For you, it allows you to receive that favor back and pour it into your family and the Kingdom of God.
It’s a beautiful transaction! We have to get rid of all the weirdness, awkwardness, and pushy, sleazy stuff we believe sales to be. We need to rewrite that definition so we can rewire the way we show up to sell.

Uncomfortable Selling? Here Are 3 Reasons to Get Confident Now
Let’s talk about selling.
Selling shouldn’t be stressful. You already know that selling is a critical part of your business, in order to make money from home, you’re going to have to sell.
If you don’t have something to sell yet, don’t worry, we’re going to build it together in Podcast to Profit. If you have too many things to sell, you’re confused, your audience is confused, and you’re diluting your offers, don’t worry, we’re going to fix that in Podcast to Profit. Lastly, if you have your core offer but you’re not doing a good job selling it, feeling self-conscious about it, or you’re feeling judged, your sales are not likely to translate into profitability.
I get it. I’ve been in all of those places and know that it can feel very stressful when you’re not making money and you’ve done all this work and spent a lot of money to get your business going. It can feel scary: Is this going to work? You may be questioning your personality type. Maybe you’re an introvert and you don’t know how to be “high-energy.” Maybe you feel like you’re coming across as pushy or sales and you’re driving people away from your show.
The truth is that selling shouldn’t feel stressful. Selling shouldn’t even make you feel uncomfortable and definitely shouldn’t make your listener uncomfortable. I believe sales can be a beautiful invitation for people to work with you when they are ready.
Here are three ways you can get confident and comfortable selling ASAP because if you’re not selling, you’re doing a disservice to your people, yourself, the business you were called to create, and the impact you can make.
No. 1 –Selling is an Act of Love
When you approach sales with this mindset of serving others, you’re going to find it feels more natural.
When I sold you Podcast to Profit at the beginning, did you feel I was being forceful or sleazy? Did you feel upset with me that I marketed an offer?
People tell me they don’t recognize when I’m selling. It feels organic and low-pressure. My show continues to grow, even though I sell on Every. Single. Episode. I’m constantly marketing what we offer because selling is an act of love. When you come in to Clarify Your Calling, Podcast Pro University, or Podcast to Profit, it’s the solution you don’t know you need, that you’re following these worldly coaches to find. I know if you come into the programs, I could get you where you’re trying to go faster; focused on your values without sacrificing them; teaching you a way to do it without being addicted to your phone.
I believe my solutions are what you need to get your business to a place of impact and income. It is love when I share offers with you. When you hear me marketing these different opportunities, I think you can feel that. You can feel my authenticity, and I believe the Holy Spirit shows up when I’m selling to help me reach past the excuses we make about buying. Past the limitations that we believe about ourselves. Past the things that keep you from moving forward. I can sell from a place of Holy Spirit-led love and convey how much I believe that this is what you need.
We have to shift our mindset into serving. When we sell with love, people receive it in love. Selling becomes something they are here for. No one’s leaving your show when you’re selling in love.
No. 2 – Authenticity in Selling Trumps Everything
One of the biggest fears about sales I’ve heard from my students is that they will come off as pushy, fake, or inauthentic. No one wants somebody to be inauthentic with them. We can smell that a mile away. That’s why so many of us have associated sales with sleaziness.
I’m sorry if any of you are car salesmen, but using this will be helpful. Going to a dealership, the second you park your car, there are three dudes on you wanting to know what kind of car you’re seeking. It’s too much. You just want to look around. You’re feeling super pressured to the point you just want to leave and not even look. It’s so inauthentic.
Now, you go into a Mom & Pop crafting store. When you walk in, you hear, “Welcome. We have free tea and coffee if you’re interested. Let us know if you have any questions. By the way, we have a brand new artist featured over here. If you want to check it out, I’d love to share with you her story and her art. Just let me know if you’re interested in that.”
There was that beautiful invitation to explore and let the owner know when you’re ready. That beautiful invitation is key. The last thing in that example was telling you about something new you might be interested in, just so you’re aware that it’s there.
When we think about selling in that authentic way, it’s truly an invitation.
Other Ways to Sell
Other ways we sell with authenticity include sharing our own story, focusing on value-driven sales, and letting your personality shine through.
I talk about how social media was too much for me, I was addicted to it, and it was so draining. Selling now through this podcast where I don’t have to show up on video and I don’t have to feel creepy and weird is a joy. I just share my stuff with you and you see your story in mine. That helps you grow trust in me and allows you to see me as a human.
When you sell, you don’t need to get weird or professional or become something you’re not. Sink deeper into who you really are, why you created your offer, and how it’s going to help. The key is to stop trying to please everyone; no offer is perfect for everyone. Focus on who it is perfect for; connecting with those who are ready.
I heard this analogy… You’re on the ocean in a boat and there are lots of people drowning. Are you going to put your oar on the floor of the ocean where everyone on the floor is refusing to swim to the top? Or are you going to hand your oar to those who have swum to the top and are reaching for the boat? Those who are ready, those who say they need help and offer their arm?
Those are the people. Just eliminate the pressure that you’re talking to everybody. Only 10% of the listeners are really here for what you have to say. You can drop into this super authentic, vulnerable space and speak specifically to those people. It’s going to be so much easier to sell to people who want what you have to offer.
No. 3 – Selling is a Skill That Can Be Learned
I was NOT born a great salesperson! I was not even born a great speaker; in fact, I was terrified of public speaking! My voice would shake and I would black out. I have the most embarrassing stories from when I had to speak in high school, college, and even up until my mid-20s. I was so uncomfortable speaking and really uncomfortable with sales. But… I found myself knee-deep in a network marketing company. There were no other options after I was laid off from my job. I was forced to get comfortable with sales quickly. I didn’t sell the right way, but at least it gave me some foundational things I can lean on today. What it did was help me push through the fear and see that I was able to sell.
Selling is a skill. It is something time and practice are going to allow you to cultivate. Selling is a skill like any other skill; it can be learned, practiced, and perfected-ish (no such thing as perfect). The more you do it, the better you’ll get. When you come into Podcast to Profit and I give you templates, I teach you how to sell with soul. I will give you examples and we’ll practice together so you can elevate that sales skill set at a higher rate than you would do on your own. Having community and coaching to help you sell is going to be imperative.
As you begin to actually make sales, by having inviting, authentic, love-focused selling on your podcast, you’re going to see that the people you attract, the people who purchase from you, are ready. They’re excited and willing. You’re going to feel even better about the way you sell and you’re going to want to do more of it.
Wrapup with a BONUS Tip
Selling doesn’t need to be stressful or overwhelming. It doesn’t need to be uncomfortable. You don’t even need to overthink it! Every time I mentioned my offers to you, it’s been completely organic and from my heart. It’s just me saying, “I do have that in P2P, I should tell them about that.” It’s just natural because my offers do give you the solutions you need.
I want you to focus on practicing selling in the ways I’ve mentioned. Do some journaling work, if you need to, over what’s keeping you from confidently selling. I want you to lean into what you want your sales to feel like, from the user’s perspective. That way, as you start to sell, you can embody what you want it to feel like.
Then practice. Honestly, practice is the best thing you can do when it comes to sales. One tip I give my students is: Elevate who you naturally are by 2x. So when you’re selling, you lean in and you get a little bit louder. It might feel a little awkward, but it’s what grabs your listener’s attention. When you’re selling, you’re going to get a Little. More. In. The. Microphone. Use your hands, smile, and use a bullet-point cheat sheet to help you stay on task. Then… you’re just going to have fun and be a storyteller.
Sales – I promise you – is a skill you can master!
The more I get to know my students and the more I participate in masterminds with my peers the more I’m starting to comprehend the overarching problem and prevalence of one, perfectionism, and two, overthinking.
Perfectionism keeps us in a place of constant consumption and learning. Redoing things over and over and thinking that we can’t move forward until they measure up to some elusive standard.
