Do you seem to be stuck in a spiral of worry and anxiety that never seems to go away? Maybe find yourself worrying about your kids and the things they’re dealing with. Or maybe you’re worried if doing the right things in your marriage or your business. Your fears seem to keep growing even though you know that God’s peace is promised. I’ve been there! And today I have six Bible verses for you that are going to help you in overcoming your fears and giving your worries to God.
6 Bible Verses for Overcoming Your Fears and Giving Your Worries to God
1.James 1:2-4
“Count it all joy my brothers when you meet trials of various kinds for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect that you may be perfect and complete lacking in nothing.”
I know it sounds counterintuitive to count it all joy when you face trials. But you first have to look at your perspective! Are looking at your situation through a “fear and worry lens” when you should be looking at it through a “joy lens”?
By rejoicing, you are actually growing in your faith in overcoming your fears and giving your worries to God.
Remember, changing your perspective often comes with a prayer that God will change your heart.
2. Philippians 4:6-7
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
By praying and coming to God with gratitude, you can bring all your anxiety and worry to Him.
By giving your worries to God, He WILL take that worry and replace it with His peace.
3.Psalm 55:22
“Cast your burden on the Lord and He will sustain you. He will never permit the righteousness to be moved.”
If you cast your burden on the Lord, you will not be shaken! You have taken a huge step toward overcoming your fears.
Telling Him about your burdens is part of giving your worries to God. He promises to give you sustenance!
4.Psalm 23:1-5
“The Lord is my shepherd. I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadowsand leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strengthand guides me along the right path bringing honor to His name. Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid for you are close beside me.”
This beautiful visual that has been painted for you is calling you to rise in your faith and to rest in His presence.
You don’t have to do it alone; God will help you overcome your fears. He is going to be beside you no matter where you are.
God is leading and telling you where to go. You just need to let Him lead!
5. Matthew 11:28-30
“Come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me. I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. My yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Being burdened is holding fear on your shoulders. That’s when you start feeling exhausted from trying to control all the circumstances and things in your life that causes worry.
Giving your worries to God makes you realize you can’t control everything. You just have to show up with God, pray, and take the next step.
6.2 Timothy 1:7
“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline.”
Controlling your worries and your fears comes back to controlling your mind and your actions.
By staying disciplined and renewing your mind in His word, you can overcome your fears.
As you practice coming to Jesus about every aspect of your life, you are no longer timid. You don’t have to shrink down and live in a box of worry. You have power!
