(00:00):
Hello ladies. Welcome back to the final round of the Profitable Podcast Series. Today, we are going to be digging into the final tip for you to grow and scale a show that you can get paid from. We’re going to go through how to actually sell and or pitch on your podcast. How do you sell the things?
(00:23):
What is the proper way to show up and serve, and then actually get people to convert? That’s going to be what I’m going to be going over with you today on this episode so grab a notebook and pen and let’s do this.
(01:41):
So let’s start with what is a pitch. Basically on your podcast, you have this opportunity to market something. And if you listen to yesterday’s episode, I talked about what you can market: coaching, a course or affiliate products or services. That’s really what I recommend that you start with. And in order to sell those things, you have to actually tell your audience about them.
(02:08):
How many of you get super weird, awkward, salesy, start talking real quiet. Maybe you run through it real fast so that you can get it over with. Maybe you don’t say anything at all cause your heart’s beating too fast? And you’re like, I’ll just talk about it next time. No, that’s not going to fly girl, because you have got to tell the people, the solutions that you have for them.
(02:28):
You have to give them the implementation that they desperately need when they listen. Right? Like right now, you guys are listening to this podcast, Profitable Podcasting Series. And there’s lots of tips here, but I can only give you so much in 10 to 15 minutes and you have to go do all the things yourself. So some of you are going to go do the things, which is amazing. And some of you are going to be like, oh, but wait, like, can you show me how?
(02:51):
Can you do it with me? Hold my hand? Keep me accountable? Screen share? Can you coach with me? Like, you actually need more than just go do this. And someone pointing a finger at you or giving you a tutorial or a blog post, you need the immersion. You need the accountability. And so you can, so you can stay really locked into this promise that you made to yourself.
(03:18):
And so that’s where your courses, offers, programs, and affiliate programs come in because that’s what gets people, the result. It’s not just telling them what they need to do. It’s showing them how to do it. So you have to tell them about that. That is what’s selling and pitching is. And I believe that if you have something you’re selling or marketing, you better believe in that thing with your entire art and soul. Okay.
(03:42):
I talk actually on episode 3 0 4 about reasons people don’t buy. And specifically, one of those reasons is that you are not selling enough or you are not selling properly with the right pitch. And I give examples of good pitches and not so great pitches. Okay?
(04:03):
So if you want to hear some live examples of pitching, you can head to episode 304 but basically a pitch is simply telling someone what, well, let me go through kind of like this framework for you, a very, very high level framework.
(04:19):
So when you’re going to market something on your show, you have to think about what are the pain points your person is experiencing? What are the problems they think they’re having? Not what problems do you think? Not what solutions do you have, but what does your person believe is happening? Believe to be true about their problem, their pain point, their situation, what they do or do not have. Okay. Write those down.
(04:46):
Those are the triggers you need to mention in your pitch. Then you’re going to talk about what your thing actually is. What is it? Is it a course? Is it a program? What’s it called? What’s the tagline be specific what’s inside of it. And then you’re going to talk about what the solutions are that your thing provides. So why is it going to solve their problems? And then finally you need to include a reason to do it now.
(05:07):
What’s the urgency play here, you know, like why should they do it now versus next year? So there needs to be some type of urgency that’s embedded inside of every single promotion or pitch. Now inside a Podcast to Profit, my mastermind program is kicking off week 1st of August, I have an entire week’s training on how to promote and drive urgency because there are four major ways that we drive and promote urgency.
(05:35):
And I even give you guys a formula for how often to do those different things, how you can do them. So all of that’s included in P2P but you got to give them a reason to buy. The other piece that’s included in Podcast to Profit is my pitch template. So you’re going to be going through and mapping out your pitch with me line by line. And then you’re actually going to pitch me live in the power coaching.
(05:59):
Yeah. And here’s the best part about that. A lot of people will not tell you the truth, right? They’re like, oh, that was great. Oh, good job. You did so good. And the reality is like, maybe you didn’t do so good, but who’s going to tell you that? They don’t know what to listen for. Not sure of the different voice inflection. Don’t have feedback on what you forgot. Well, girl, I do.
(06:23):
Cause I have heard hundreds of students pitch me before and I know exactly how to optimize yours so that you actually start selling. So you’re going to have to come with some tough skin because we are going to make sure that your sales is 100% streamlined and you are showing up with audacity and authority to sell the stuff that we create inside a Podcast to Profit, which is so amazing.
(06:44):
I’m so excited. So again, if that is for you, it’s at stefaniegass.com/podcasttoprofit. Get your application in stat. All right. So let’s get back to this. So what should you not do when you are selling inside of your podcast? Well, the first thing that I don’t believe you should do is you should get salesy. I know that you listen to podcasts and they have ads or they have a sponsorship in there. And it sounds like an actual commercial.
(07:09):
It gets very weird and salesy, don’t do that. You just heard me sell Podcast to Profit very organically just now like two seconds ago. So rewind and relisten, but it’s like, there are natural places that you can plug in what your marketing, because it’s just an opening for it. Just pop it in there. And you’re speaking from your heart instead of your head.
(07:32):
And if you know that your solution is going to get them where they need to go, why wouldn’t you tell them about it? So don’t get salesy and weird. Just be organic and authentic. There’s no perfect place to pop in a pitch. Either. You can do it at the beginning. You can just do it organically in the middle.
(07:48):
You can wait until the end, whatever floats your boat is totally fine. Just trust yourself. And you should pray over your episodes and just allow the holy spirit to work through you. Say when, and if this pitch or my offer, my program will be a great fit, Holy spirit just helped me come up with the word and he will.
(08:14):
Now the other thing you should not do is wait. I think that you should be marketing your stuff consistently more often than you think necessary and more audaciously than is comfortable for you because people are distracted.
(08:30):
They are highly, you can call it what you want, whether it’s distracted, whether it’s, I’m just multi-passionate no, honey, you’re staring at your phone at the same time as you’re listening to me as you cook and breakfast as a kid is throwing Legos at your feet. Like it’s crazy over there. So you have to be audacious when you market your stuff or she’s not going to hear you.
(08:53):
There a day when people were saying, Stef, do you coach? I’m like, huh? How do you not know that I coach, I talk about it on the show all the time you hear live coaching on the air. This is crazy town. But the situation is, is that people are in it to get their solution and to get out. So you have to continuously remind people why you have the answer for them, why it’s going to help them.
(09:17):
Okay. The last thing that you should not do is make it about you. So sometimes we talk about why you’re so qualified or why maybe your thing has so many results or maybe why you love this thing, this program, or this product so much that they should buy it while it’s okay to emotionally connect with somebody. We have to really quickly turn it around and make it about them.
(09:43):
We have to focus on why they need it, why it will take away those issues that they’re having in their business or their lives or their marriages or their motherhood or their whatever. And really focusing on, like I mentioned earlier, but I’m going to reiterate it’s the problems they think that they have. So for example, if you’re a mindset coach, you don’t need to tell people Hey, come grab a mindset coaching session with me.
(10:10):
Like while she may think it could be her mindset, what she probably thinks it’s all the actual physical problems that she’s experiencing. Like I don’t have enough time or I don’t have enough support or I just don’t have clarity or I’m just stuck right now. She’s focused on the physical.
(10:27):
So you need to focus on those same pain points when you’re selling her the things, then you can explain what your mindset coaching is, what she walks away with and why it’s going to solve all of her problems. But don’t lead with that and really making it about the outcome.
(10:42):
And don’t forget if I’m going to just give you one last bonus tip here on pitching. Don’t forget to include what is the final outcome of this thing? What does she actually walk away with when she’s done working with you, taking your program, finishing up with your course, what is the actual outcome?
(11:00):
You must know that because that’s the only way you can ask people to spend their money with you is if they know they’re going to get a result. So those are my tips and tricks for selling and pitching right there on your show. I hope that that helped you get some clarity, practice your pitch in.
(11:18):
And if you really want to go next level in making money from your podcast and creating a profit generating lead magnetizing business model, where all you do is show up from behind the mic, utilize SEO, strategy visibility, all of which I teach you in Podcast to Profit.
