Do you want to increase your podcast reach? Did you know getting reviews is one of the easiest and best ways to do this? So, how do you go about getting more reviews? I have discovered four easy ways to get more reviews to increase your podcast reach. I share my top tips in today’s blog to get those reviews and boost your podcast ranking.
4 Strategic Tips On How to Get More Reviews to Increase Your Podcast Reach
1. Host a giveaway or contest
Hosting a giveaway is a great way to get more podcast reviews. Typically, we host one 2-3 times per year. Essentially, you want to do some type of contest to celebrate something. It could be you’ve reached 10 episodes, 100 episodes, or 10,000 downloads; it doesn’t matter. And what we do is have our audience leave a review for the podcast on Apple podcasts and have them share that review in our Facebook community.
It’s a double whammy of one, getting people to leave a review because they want to win, and two, sharing in the group gets them into our Facebook group and on our email list. It is all strategic friends!

If you want to create a replica of what I’ve done, I’ll show you how to get more reviews in Podcast to Profit. It’s such a great way to get reviews! We scoop up between 50-100 reviews every time we do this. It’s been an incredibly instrumental part of being able to scale our ratings.
It’s also excellent because it bumps up the reviews in a short amount of time, which Apple Podcasts loves! The app is very happy when you push a ton of activity in a short amount of time.
If you’d like more direction on what to do, what to give away, and how to run a contest or giveaway strategically, we cover everything in great detail in Podcast to Profit (my 90-day group coaching mastermind).
2. Add an ask in your intro or exit jingle
The second tip is to put an ask into your into or exit jingle. All you have to do is add something that says, “Hey, has this podcast helped you in some way? Has it made you laugh or encouraged you? Please leave a five-star review over on Apple Podcasts.”
Have fun with it! Depending on your niche, you could say something funny like, “…if I’ve helped you lean into homeschooling instead of hiding in your closet, please feel free to leave this podcast a review.”
The second thing to add is why you want them to leave a rating. For example, “If you can leave a review for the show, it would really help us ___________”, – get that visibility, increase our podcast reach, help other people find out about the podcast, help me feel encouraged, etc…
Then, you pre-record that ask and put it into your jingle at the start or end of the show.
3. Read other podcast reviews on your show
My third tip for how to get more reviews is to read other reviews on your show. When I was getting started, one of my first strategies was to pick the most recent five-star reviews and read them aloud on the air.
I’d say something like, “I’m going to read a review from Mary Jones, who left a five-star review, which says _________. Thank you so much, Mary! This blessed me and encouraged me. If you haven’t left me a review for the show yet, friend, you can head to Apple Podcasts, scroll all the way down and click that purple writing and write a review. Maybe I’ll feature your rating on the podcast next!”
I found this worked super well! When I was getting started, I found every time I did this and read the review aloud, I’d get 2-3 extra reviews and my podcast reach grew.
4. Ask your warm audience for a review
The fourth and final strategy for getting more reviews on the podcast is to ask your warm market. So, you have not only asked on the podcast but have you also asked everywhere else your warm market lives? This might look like an email to your list; it doesn’t matter if you have 10 or 10,000 people on there. Send an email that says something like, “have you left a review for the podcast? I would be so honored if you took just 60 seconds of your time to let me know how this podcast has helped you, what you love about the show, what your favorite podcast episode etc.”
One of the biggest roadblocks to people leaving a rating is that they don’t know how. So, you can create a quick screen record or screenshots on how to leave a review and either put them in the email or give them a link to the instructions — not knowing how has been a deal breaker for some of my audience and family members.
Ask your audience for podcast reviews
We’ve got to ask our warm market, which includes your family and friends. Who didn’t leave a rating during our live launch? Hit them up!
Aside from your email list and family and friends, you can also post in your Facebook group and ask in your socials. Just remember to tell people the why. People are willing to help you if they understand that it does actually help your podcast reach and that it’s not just a vanity thing.
Speak with your heart to your audience
I explain it to people like this; “I pour hours and hours into this podcast weekly to provide free knowledge for you. It is an outpouring of everything I know, bottled up in this little voice recording for you to implement into your business or faith immediately. And the one thing I ask is that you pause and leave a quick rating for the podcast. It’s how I know you like it. I have no idea that you like it, what episodes you like best, or even if you are listening unless I hear from you. Not only does that review help boost the show’s algorithm, but it’s also a huge thank you and blessing to me. It also helps me know what you like, what blessed you, and why you stay so that we can do more of that over here.”
There are so many reasons why leaving a rating is important! Reviews not only help grow the show’s ranking, visibility, and podcast reach but also provide valuable information on what your audience loves and what to do more of. Don’t be afraid to ask for reviews! Whether through a contest or giveaway, during your show, or via email or socials, if people know why reviews are vital, they are keen to help. Just make it as easy as possible for them, and get ready to explode your show! Use these tips for how to get more reviews and see your podcast explode!
