Have you started your podcast and are trying to find the best way to generate leads? Well, you’re in luck because having a podcast is the easiest way to generate leads and build an email list!
In five easy steps, I’ll show you how simple it can be to build your email list and generate the leads you’ve been hoping for using your podcast.
How to utilize podcasting to build an email list
1. Generate leads with a podcast audit and scrub
First, you need to have a clear message, avatar, and niche. If you don’t have people organically finding your show, you can’t build an email list!
Think through the following questions:
Is my podcast clear?
Do I have an SEO-friendly title?
Do I have a visible tagline on my art?
Once you have the five tiers of your brand clean and clear, you can move to step two.
2. Figure out what your avatar wants the most
Take a moment to think about the number one thing that your person wants most. It’s not all the things. It’s the most important thing. The best way to figure this out is to dig into your podcast’s analytics and your person. Ask questions and do market research! If you don’t know the questions she’s asking and the keywords she’s searching for, you won’t know how to serve her!
3. Provide a solution-based freebie to generate leads
Your freebie is simply to get people to come into your email list and then you can tell them what their solutions are. But you have to bring them in based on what they are asking for! Making sure it solves, begins to solve, or at least touches on the problem your avatar needs to have solved is key.
Keep it elementary and keep it simple. This will get them a win, which will generate a lead.
4. Using your freebie to build an email list
As soon as you’ve created a freebie that your person wants and needs, you have to tell them how to get it! Create a juicy and exciting offer for your avatar, but be honest and authentic with your marketing. It is important to note that it is free, solves their problem, and provides value.
Remember that when you create a free thing, it’s exactly that: a free thing. Keep it what it is. Don’t oversell the fact that it is free. Your only job in providing a freebie to generate leads to build your email list is to just solve one small problem.
5. Build an email list with repetition over quantity
One of the biggest problems I see with people trying to help and convert people into paying clients is that they offer so many options that their avatar is highly confused. One of the worst things you can do is offer five to ten different freebies, each solving a different problem. It is overwhelming and causes anxiety in your avatar. Make sure they know that you understand their number one problem.
Remember, don’t just talk about your freebie once. You want to keep marketing your freebie every episode. You can even put it in a prerecorded introduction or exit to your show. Constantly remind them that you have this free resource ready to go for them.
So what do you do once you have leads on the email list?
You don’t want to continue giving away freebie after freebie without a plan for implementation. Once you have provided all the free content showing you understand their problem and have told them about your podcast episodes, it is time to give them an implementation solution that is paid.
When people pay for something, they actually show up for it and do the work. Understanding what your listener wants and how you can solve its problems is going to be the most valuable piece of information, not only for building your list and creating a freebie but also for making money in the long run.
I pray these five simple steps will help you to build an email list and generate more leads. Once you begin to generate those leads you will see tremendous growth and opportunity in your podcast!
