As we get closer to Christmas and the end of the year, it’s time to look ahead to the next year. I always do a huge podcast refresh at this time of year, as well as do a ton of business planning so I am ready for the new year. If you haven’t done this yet, or don’t know where to start, don’t worry! I’m going to take you through my business planning checklist so you can easily prepare for the next year and feel refreshed and ready to go!
Get Ready for the New Year With This Business Planning Checklist!
I love the end of the year. It brings me so much joy to start wrapping everything up so I can get ready for the new year. But I know it can feel overwhelming trying to figure out everything you need to plan, and how to keep track of it all.
In this business planning checklist, I’m going to take you through 5 things you need to look at in your business before the year is over so you can get off to a strong start!
1. Get ready for the new year by reviewing your brand map and business plan.
Creating your brand map and business plan is what I teach you in Clarify your Calling. We go over:
You need to review this every year because there may be little tweaks you need to make to stay aligned with the vision for your business. If you need help with this, join me in Clarify your Calling and we will create these together!
2.Conduct a Branding Refresh
You want to make sure your branding is still up to date. This is an opportunity to get a new photoshoot done so your pictures can be fresh! You may also want to review your logo, colors, and graphics to keep it accurate to where your brand is at.
3.Refresh your website to be ready for the new year.
The third step in your business planning checklist is to update your website! Go through each page and update the copy, the photos, and the SEO. If you don’t know how to set up your website or set up the backend, you can learn that in Podcast to Profit! But the most important thing is to make sure your copy is updated every year.
4.Review the operations of your business.
The next item on your business planning checklist to get ready for the new year is to take a look behind the scenes:
Do you need a new email signature?
Do you need to update the processes or SOP’s in your business?
5. The final piece of the business planning checklist is a podcast update.
The end of the year is the perfect time to review your podcast! I know, this sounds like a lot, but it’s actually super simple. Here are a few things to look at:
Don’t panic if you don’t get all of the updates done. Even if you update half of it or don’t finish it until February, that’s still awesome! You made some progress.
How to organize everything on your business planning checklist
I have a card in Asana to keep track of my year-end tasks. Each thing on this list has its own task in my Asana card so I can check them off once they are done.
Give yourself grace while you are doing this. If you don’t get everything updated by the new year, it’s okay! But if you give yourself enough time to plan, and tackle this business planning checklist one thing at a time, you can get it all done and feel ready for the new year. You’ll head into January feeling excited and refreshed for everything to come!
