Are you a Christian woman who has an online business? Do you have a passion for something, but don’t know how to take it and turn it into the perfect podcast? Well, fear not — we’re here to help. In this blog post, we’ll walk you through four simple steps that will help you brainstorm a podcast plan for your show and give you the clarity you need. Let’s get started!
Get Clarity on What Your Show Should Be About With This 4-Step Podcast Plan
So many people know they want to start a podcast, but they tell me: “Stef, I have no idea what my podcast would even be about!” They’re confused and overwhelmed because they don’t have the clarity they need to move forward. So let’s get you clarity!
I know that starting a podcast feels like a scary decision, but the truth is it’s not! It’s the same as starting a social media account or opening up a new offer. It’s just a step in your business. But instead of creating random posts that don’t actually convert, you’re creating long-form content that has SEO that goes out and works for you to grow your audience.
It doesn’t have to be scary to start a podcast, however. You just need to know the how (which I teach inside the Stefanie Gass School), and you need to know the what (which is what we’re talking about in this blog).
So, I’ve got four steps for you to brainstorm a podcast plan for your show. With these steps, you’ll be able to get clear on what your show should be about and create the perfect podcast!
Step 1: Get a Podcast Focus
Here are a few questions for you to do a brain dump and discern through so you can create the perfect podcast.
What are you best at?
If you’re not sure, I recommend hopping into Clarify Your Calling! I can walk you through figuring out what it is God called you to do.
What do you do right now?
There’s a difference between your spiritual giftings and your vocational giftings.
Your spiritual giftings may be teaching, exhortation, and evangelism.
Your vocational giftings might be fitness.
Clarify Your Calling helps you meld all these different pieces of who you are to come up with your root common denominator. Look through all the pieces of who you are to discover the core thing you’re called to do.
So for example, your core thing could be teaching fitness to stay-at-home moms.
Once you’ve done this brain dump, you should begin to see what your core thing could be. Because everything is laid out on one page, it’s easy to see where things can connect together.
Step 2: Identify Your Target Audience
Once you have clarity on your focus, the second part of your podcast plan is understanding who your ideal listener is. First, start brainstorming over who this listener is and think about
Why would they listen
What are the problems they are facing
What are the excuses or setbacks they deal with on a day-to-day basis
How can you solve those problems?
Identifying problems and pain points that they may be experiencing can be really helpful in pinpointing who exactly should be listening to your podcast. This will help you create the perfect podcast.
Step 3: Come Up with Potential Episode Topics
The next part of your podcast plan is to create some episode content that will be interesting for your ideal listener. Look at everything you wrote about who that person is and you’ll see that you can solve those problems with your episode content. Brainstorm some SEO-rich titles based on the problems and excuses your person is dealing with. This is something we spend a lot of time working on in Podcast to Profit.
SEO-rich titles are what’s going to grow your podcast. When your ideal listener types into the search bar, your podcast is going to pop up and they’re going to listen. And because you know how to create captivating content that keeps your listener engaged, they’re going to stick around! The perfect podcast is one that grows your audience for you.
But remember that done is better than perfect. If you don’t know how to create fancy titles yet, just get out there with super simple episode titles, you can worry about the strategic stuff later.
Step 4: Brainstorm Titles & Taglines
The final part of your podcast plan is to come up with a title and a TSO (tactical specific outcome) statement. Start brainstorming ideas for these questions
What is the outcome of the podcast that you’re looking to build?
What could the podcast be called?
What is the promise of the show?
Allow the ideas to flow on your paper. This is where my team steps in to help you in Podcast to Profit. We take these ideas and help you come up with the title and tagline that will stand out for your ideal listener.
Now You’re Ready to Start Your Podcast
Finally, after working through all the steps in this podcast plan, you should have the clarity you need to get started. The last piece of the puzzle is to pray over everything you brainstormed and allow God to help you create the perfect podcast.
Once all of these pieces have been identified, put them all together, add some creative flair, and voila! You have yourself an amazing framework for launching an inspiring new podcast! So don’t wait any longer – start putting these steps into action today and watch as God works His magic through the power of podcasting!

Perfectionism keeps us in a place of constant consumption and learning. Redoing things over and over and thinking that we can’t move forward until they measure up to some elusive standard.
