Creating a high-quality and seamless experience for my students is one of my top priorities as a coach and course creator. It’s important to me that they learn effectively, and a lot of this comes down to the platform I choose to run my courses on.
After a lot of research and consideration, I decided to leave my current platform, Teachable, and make the move to Learn inside of Thrivecart. This was a difficult decision but I’m confident the move will benefit my students and me! In this post, I’m breaking down the 4 main reasons why I decided to make this shift away from Teachable. I’ll also share how Learn inside of Thrivecart will improve every aspect of our courses and student experience.

My Journey Towards Deciding to Leave Teachable
So I’ve been using Teachable for around 4 years now. I first signed up to the platform when I began creating courses because I wanted an affordable way for my audience to learn from me and that allowed me to scale. It was time to phase out of my 1:1 work and teach people in a course setting. I now have over 2,000 students across all my courses and it has been incredible!
However, I recently reworked Podcast to Profit and upgraded it from a 3-month to a 6-month program. With that came the need to change the back office and I completely re-recorded the program. In this process, I was considering whether I wanted to remain on Teachable or not. I knew it would be a lot of work to move everything, so initially, I thought it would be easier to stay on the same platform. But when I went in to update all of my training videos, I realized how difficult the back end of Teachable is. It was so confusing and I was calling my team daily trying to figure things out.
Some friends of mine had already moved over to Learn, which is a software inside of Thrivecart. I have been using Thrivecart as my checkout software for a long time. Because it was a one-time investment, everything was already paid for. At the same time, I received an email from Teachable saying my payment was going to be an extra $500, so I decided that it was no longer worth it to stay on that platform and I made the commitment to moving everything to Learn inside of Thrivecart.
I want to walk you through the 4 main reasons I made this decision and share with you why I love this new platform so much. If you still use Teachable, there is nothing wrong with that! This is just what works best for my company and me.
Reason 1: The Cost of Teachable
It became hard for me to justify the ongoing cost of Teachable. When I started 4 years ago the cost was around $800 for the year, and now it’s $1500. The constant price increases are an alarm bell for me that they are going to continue doing this into the future. And if you don’t have the higher plan on Teachable, they take a percentage of your sales.
Compare that to Learn, the course platform within Thrivecart. I bought Thrivecart several years ago for a one-time fee and have never had to pay any more money on that platform. Not to mention my experience using their checkout software has been amazing! There was a small fee to upgrade to include Learn, and that’s me done paying for it forever. It is so much more cost-effective than Teachable because there are no monthly fees. And as an entrepreneur, keeping your expenses as low as possible is so important!
Reason 2: Teachable Is Not User-Friendly
Teachable offers a lot of features and has the ability to customize everything. I initially thought this was great and one of the things which set it apart, however, it is really complicated and clunky to use. It made it challenging for me and my team to edit our courses and create the experience we wanted for my students.
On top of that, it’s a really beautiful platform and I actually enjoy creating my course there. It’s got so much potential for customization and it’s easy for our students to navigate too.
Reason 3: I Couldn’t Create a Personalized Experience on Teachable
Teachable is a very cookie-cutter experience. Everybody got into the course and saw the exact same thing at the exact same time. It wasn’t personalized. With Learn, we can create custom branding and integrate it with many different features to create a truly unique experience for each student. We can add personal touches and personalized interactions that make our students feel seen and heard.
Reason 4: Updating My Courses in Teachable Would Take Too Much Time
I estimate that going back through my three courses to update them in Teachable would take more time than just recreating them in Learn. Because the back end of Teachable is clunky I found it so difficult to use. I realized it would take me so long to create everything I needed to in there.
Using Learn, I don’t feel like I’m wasting my time. It’s so easy to set everything up and I can easily copy and paste modules so everything has the same structure and aesthetic.

We are able to deliver so much more to them at a much lower cost. The more I get to know my students and the more I participate in masterminds with my peers the more I’m starting to comprehend the overarching problem and prevalence of one, perfectionism, and two, overthinking.
Perfectionism keeps us in a place of constant consumption and learning. Redoing things over and over and thinking that we can’t move forward until they measure up to some elusive standard.
