Have a Successful Podcast With These Podcast SEO Tips!
Even if you have had a podcast for quite a while, fine-tuning the optimization process truly never ends. You learn more, you grow, and you get to know your avatar even better. As you get more clear on your avatar and who you are helping, you will need to update or tweak your tagline or other areas of your podcast.
“Sustainable health habit hacks for busy working moms to transform their time guilt free”
Keywords I pulled out of this were “Sustainable health through habit hacks”
Keep the tagline at 10 words or less
Your clients will start to label things for you. Emily’s clients labeled her “habit hacks” as “habit strategies”. We can incorporate what her clients have labeled her niche as and came up with a tagline “Sustainable health through habit strategies” to get us started. Emily has certain words that are important for her to have in her tagline. Using what we came up with and incorporating the words that are important to her brand, we were able to talk through some great options keeping it under 10 words!
Podcast SEO Updates
You want to update the house, everything outside of the podcast, once a year at minimum. I usually update this every December. However, if you have insight into new SEO keywords that you weren’t aware of, you can do it as you go.
Some of the important words that may not fit into the tagline, you can add into the description for SEO. Comb through your TSO, your 5 Pillars of your brand, and everything you learn in Clarify Your Calling and Podcast Pro University. This will help you to work through all of your updating.
The important thing to remember with keywords and SEO is that you are using these words to catch a fish. You catch your fish, then you train your fish in your vocabulary. If you don’t use the necessary words to catch the fish, you are missing a few fish that would never search the words that you use. Certain keywords may not resonate with you, but they will catch those fish that don’t use the typical words in your podcast.
Creating Your Podcast SEO Description
Space out the description to make it easier to read. If you use large paragraphs, the listener won’t read it. Keep it personal and relatable so your reader feels seen and heard. You also want to mention the solution you provide so they know they’re in the right place. Finish your description with links to your most important resources, your website, etc.
Someone may have what they want from you in the first three sentences, then you may have those that are very analytical and read the entire description AND go to your website before they decide to listen to you. The key is to make it spaced for easy reading.
