Starting a new podcast can be fun and exciting. But sometimes you get so excited about the thought of starting this new business venture that you get stuck right out the gate. Your mind races with questions like, “What should I talk about?” “What should my tagline be?” “Where do I even start?” It’s okay! I’ve got your back.
In this blog, I’m going to take you through a few simple steps to help you create a strong title and tagline for your new podcast. This will help your show get found by your ideal listeners!
How to Create the Best Name and Tagline When Starting a New Podcast
Starting a new podcast should take time and effort. The last thing you want to do when starting your new podcast is to say, “I think I know what I should do” and then dive right in.
Instead, take the time you need to get clear with your avatar, title, tagline, and all the other things that are needed to start a successful podcast. Having this clarity will help your growth road to success become much shorter. Curious? Keep reading below to see what first steps are needed to get your new podcast up and going!
Define What You Do and What Your New Podcast Offers
Do you know what you do? Having a clear answer to this question is the most important part of starting your podcast. You can’t come up with an effective title or a tagline if you aren’t sure what your skill is. And you don’t want your person to leave wondering what it is that you do!
Once you have established what you do and what you have to offer your person, then you can figure out your title and tagline. Keeping your title and tagline clean and clear will help your people understand exactly what you do so they can decide if your services are what they need.
Choose Your Words Carefully When Creating Your Title, Tagline, and Message
When your podcast isn’t super specific, you leave your person feeling overwhelmed and confused. By knowing exactly what you do, you can not only create a solid foundation for your new podcast but also create tailored content. Super sticky and tactile titles may feel a little wordy. But when you hone in on your niche and include that in your podcast title, it makes it easy for your audience to know exactly how you can help them.
It might take some time to come up with your title and tagline, but that’s okay. The more specific you are in your title, the better outcome you will have when trying to attract the right people to your business.
Using Your Tagline and Messaging Can Even Help You Book More Discovery Calls
When you take the time to dial this part in, you will actually be able to book more discovery calls. And this is where you will make money! So you really need to think about the words you use when messaging. Don’t be afraid to dig in and challenge yourself.
An easy way to get started when creating a message is to start with a question to your person, and then offer them a solution.
Example:
Question/Problem: Are you a ___________? (Ex. Busy mama looking for more organization in your home?)
Your Solution: I can help you ____________. (Ex. Set up systems to keep your home life organized and manageable)

Once you have your messaging and tagline established, you’ll want to join groups where your ideal clients hang out and provide value. The best place to start is with a Facebook group that allows you to promote.
