When do you create an online course? Can you create an online course if you don’t have a large following? What does that strategy look like? When you start a podcast there are so many questions that come up. When is too soon to start an online course? How do you get ready to create an effective online course for your business? I am discussing three things that will save you time from creating a course that may not be sticky and viable.
How to Know if You Are Ready to Create an Online Course for Your Business
1. Be 100% sure of your target market’s number one problem
You don’t want to throw spaghetti at the wall trying different courses in an attempt to make quick money. Think through the following questions to narrow down what their number one problem is.
What does your niche market desperately need?
Is your course something sticky, tactical, and tangible?
Does it have a specific pain point that you are solving, and is this actually the pain point your avatar has?
Paying attention to their questions, comments, and specific verbiage in social media
If you don’t have 100% clarity, your Podcast will grow slowly because you don’t have a micro-niche. You aren’t going to grow like you want until you are 100% sure of what the number one problem is. You might have an idea of what their pain point is, but until you truly listen to them enough, it’s easy to miss the mark. Trust me, I have learned this by example!
2. Validate the framework for your new online course idea
You need a step-by-step framework that will get your avatar the result that they want based on their number one problem. Inside Podcast to Profit I spend at least a month with you validating your framework. You will be coaching at least five people through your framework one on one.
Taking them through your framework will help you figure out what is broken in your course, what your avatar actually wants, and where they are falling short which will help you to make necessary adjustments.
3. Have at least 250 super fans from your target market
Super fans are the fans that relisten to all of your episodes, they follow you consistently, and open all your emails. These are your hottest leads, your highest download listeners. Until you have at least 250 super fans, you don’t have enough of a hot market to have a big, fruitful course launch. You probably haven’t tested your framework yet if you have less than 250 super fans, and conversion on 250 super fans is roughly one to two sales a month so anything less is not going to be helpful for you.
So how do you grow your super fan number? By providing consistent, quality content that speaks directly to your target market’s biggest pain points. The more they see that you have the solution they need, the more they trust you and will buy into what you create for them. They will also tell others they personally know about you. Focus on building foundational growth organically.
