Are you feeling uninspired? We are discussing ways to find creativity if you are feeling uninspired.
Maybe you’re at a standstill in content creation. No matter how much you wrack your brain, you can’t think of anything new and exciting to say.
Maybe you just don’t feel like it. You don’t feel like sitting down to your work block. You don’t feel really excited about getting back into your groove.
It’s feeling meh… blah… wah…
After rerecording Podcast to Profit for the fourth time, I went through an uninspired season because I’ve learned so much. Every year, I update my courses so you guys have the most amazing, up-to-date, and newest information.
I re-recorded every video with new bonuses and slide decks, creating a whole new thing—the entire six-month program. I felt really burnt out.
You may recognize why I felt that way. It’s healthy to take a time out and acknowledge that you feel burnt out. If possible, spend more time with family and work a little less.
But after a bit, it started to freak me out. I knew I had to return to work and focus, but I felt uninspired. I took a little moment with the Lord one morning and wrote down four ways to rediscover my inspiration. This was a month or two ago and I’m here to attest to these four ways. I personally used these in my own slump. Now I feel 100% back.
I feel inspired, excited, and motivated! I am blessed to be able to do this work again. These four creative inspiration hacks helped me recommit to why I’m doing what I’m doing and re-discover the joy in it.
These are four ways to find creativity and inspiration that I personally use in my business. I hope they help you. Grab a notebook and pen; let’s do this!
Find Creativity & Inspiration #1: Take A Break
I know it’s counter-intuitive. But are you in a moment of burnout? Did you just launch or have this huge sprint? Have you just launched your podcast? It’s a lot!
We don’t give ourselves enough breathing room after these sprints to re-adjust. We don’t allow ourselves an equalizer to get some rest, enjoy some Sabbath, or take a few days away if possible. Go on a hike; take a mountain bike ride. Go to the movies with family or friends.
Can you take a break?
I think it’s important because we often push through instead of taking a minute to evaluate if we just need a moment. You might not need a big moment, like a week off, but you might need a day or an afternoon.
Take a break that’s relative to the amount of burnout you’re experiencing. It was so important for me to be able to come back with creativity and inspiration. Even the smallest break can help.
Sometimes, I’ll just go outside. Leave your phone inside and get some sun. Breathe. Say a prayer. Even a small break in your day can be super helpful. You may get a word from the Lord or an idea.
Those breaks are imperative to your creativity and inspiration.
Find Creativity & Inspiration #2: Read Scripture or a New Book
I see a trend of finding a similar podcast or looking to AI for ideas. But each of us is uniquely and wonderfully made. Our minds are God-crafted.
Let me be clear: ChatGPT isn’t a replacement for writing your weekly podcast content, and we never want to take it as the Gospel. But using it for brainstorming, creating drafts, and getting help titling your weekly podcast episodes is fine.
When I sit with God, something comes alive in me and gives me this idea or creative spark. It doesn’t have to be about Scripture or God. It’s renewing my mind in a way that’s creating space for my own creativity to come alive.
The same is true for books. When was the last time you got lost in a great book? I read a lot of Christian, personal development, and self-help books. This is where I find such wisdom. When someone writes a book, they are putting their life’s work into words on pages.
When we go to true wisdom—not the internet or AI—we find inspiration and creativity because it’s God-breathed. I’m able to go inward and upward, pulling from my heart and mind and the word of the Lord, ideas, and conversations I want to have with you.
This episode was inspired by me sitting with Scripture and telling the Lord I felt uninspired. He led me to a chapter, and I read a specific verse. I got this awesome idea and was inspired to record it. I was excited to share this with you!
Read Scripture and books; you will find wisdom!
Find Creativity & Inspiration #3: Ask
Ask your community, peer-led mastermind, or students. If you don’t have a mastermind, I recommend joining Podcast to Profit.
Sometimes I’m just lost in my own head:
- “I’ve already talked about podcasting 300 times.”
- “I have nothing to say.”
- “I have nothing to add.”
- “There’s no value in this.”
But if I get away from myself, I remember it’s for you, the people in my group, and my students. Sometimes I’ll just go into the group and post or I’ll Voxer somebody. I’ll ask what you’re struggling with or how you’re feeling. As you know, I also have you submit questions for the podcast, and I’ll listen to them.
When I hear from people who are excited to learn from me, I am inspired and it sparks creativity. So, if you can get out of your own thought process and your own thinking that you know everything about your topic, the things you have to offer the world are absolutely limitless. You are the lid.
When you remove the lid and turn to others, asking what they need and how you can help, and actively listening, you will gain so much inspiration and be able to express yourself creatively.
It will not be about you, but about the person you serve. Ask your community, students, and your list. That is where you will find amazing breakthroughs.
Find Creativity & Inspiration #4: Revisit Your Goals & Vision
When I look at my vision for what God is pressing on my heart, I want to be the number one Christian coach in the world for people who want to have a profitable podcast.
My true heart’s desire is to be a link for people to use their words to glorify the Kingdom of God with their gifts. I want to be the best. I want my programs and my team to be excellent. My students should have the utmost experience when they’re here.
In order to do that, I will rise up!
I will show up and redo things when they need to be redone. I will not be lazy; I will do the work it takes to become what God is calling me to be.
What an incredible gift to be able to serve you. I do not take that lightly.
But sometimes, it gets heavy and hard. Sometimes, I’d rather go hide or take a nap. Instead, I will rise above, dig into my creativity, and revitalize my inspiration by revisiting my why.
Why am I doing this? What were my goals and vision for this year?
The only way we achieve our God-breathed goals is to take action. When you are here to work, are you doing your best with everything you have available at the time?
I want my answer to be “yes” every day. So, I need to revisit the goals and vision that God and I created together. There’s no other way to feel inspired, creative, and excited to do the work than to look at those goals and realize you’re moving forward!
What a beautiful way to spark creativity and show up with audacity in the work He has called you to do.
How Will YOU Find Creativity & Inspiration?
I personally find my creativity and inspiration in four ways, and I hope they help you, too. If there’s another way you find creativity and inspiration, please share it in the group.
But first, pause and do a journaling exercise right now. Write down these questions:
- What is the one way I can find creativity and inspiration right now?
- When am I doing this?
I gave you four ideas:
- Take a break.
- Read Scripture or a new book.
- Ask your community, students, or mastermind group.
- Revisit your goals and vision.
Is it one of those? Or is it something else?
Now, go put those answers in your planner – which you just got from Horacio Printing – and do it.
You will not move the needle in any area of your life unless you do it. You’ve got to do the work. I know that you will because if you are here with me and you have chosen me as your mentor and coach, you are willing to do hard things and show up, and you are dedicated and disciplined to the call on your life!
You are unapologetic about racing forward with God at your side, moving toward the people you are called to serve.
Friend, you are God-breathed. You are not just called; you are chosen. And you are here for a time such as this. Don’t take that lightly.
Fist bump!
Love you so much!
I pray this blesses you!
