defeat the enemy, strongholds and spiritual warfare
Hey Friend!
Have you ever had trouble making your brand crystal clear? Today, I am so excited to bring you this little sneak peek of a Q&A that I did in my boot camp where I was coaching somebody on how to really drill down on her brand. I helped her take this emotional brand that had a lot of feeling words and:
Make it super succinct.
Have a conversation around getting known for her one thing.
She was willing to peel the onion so that she could finally get clarity on the direction of her brand and business.
That’s going to allow her and all of you to be successful. Because if your brand is too big, you don’t win. If your brand is confusing, it’s not going to grow. You’ve got to get really lasered in on the one thing that you are here to do.
That’s today’s conversation. I know you’re going to absolutely love it. Now before we get into it, be sure you grab a notebook and pen, because there are a lot of nuggets in here that you can apply to your own business, your own podcast, and your own brand.
I Can Help You Get Clear on Your Brand Too
I do power coaching just like what you’re about to read every other week in my program Podcast to Profit. My Podcast to Profit students are actually able to submit a question, unmute, and have a full-out conversation with me, not just a Q&A. But a full conversation in a coach and client capacity.
So if you love the answers that I’m bringing during this Q&A, I would definitely encourage you to go and sign up for Podcast to Profit. This is my 6-month group coaching mastermind program for podcasters so that you can:
Get in the room
Get coached
Get clarity
You can shorten the time frame from what you are creating and try to figure it all out on your own. And kind of tumble your way forward. “Just tell me what to do, tell me what is wrong with this thing. Help me fix it so I can move forward.“ So you can really begin to step into that income and impact place that you know you’re called to go. All of those details can be found at Podcast to Profit.
Coaching Call to Help My Student Get Clear on Her Brand
Next up, we’ve got Zipporah, and she’s in Clarify Your Calling, week 2. She says, “I need assistance in verifying the pillars included in my root statement. Is it concrete enough?” So here’s an example of what she’s thinking. “One, I help women find purpose and secure identity through transparency and vulnerability.” Do you guys feel clear? Do you know exactly what she’s going to give you? No, me neither.
Let’s look at the second one. “I help women find purpose and secure identity through grace and kindness.” Okay, guys, this is such a great test for you. Look at your TSO statement or your root statement coming out of CYC and ask these questions of 5 people.
Is this extraordinarily clear?
Do you know exactly what I’m going to do for you right now?
Just give me a Yes or No answer.
Bring Your Conversation Down to a Level That People Don’t Have to Think
Often, what we believe to be clear is unclear to other people. Often, those of you who have faith or emotional or mindset-related brands have the hardest time with this. Because you know what faith and redemption and surrender and salvation and repentance and identity are. But the people that are a couple of steps behind you, they’re in the mess and the muck and are not using those words.
You have to bring your copy and your conversation down to a level that people don’t have to think about. I’m on my phone. I need to reheat my coffee right now, and you’re trying to make me think really hard about what I just heard. That’s not going to grow your brand. That’s not to say you did anything wrong. It’s a starting place. That is amazing use started. I am so proud of you. The only way that you get more clear with your brand is by starting with something. So great job.
Peel Back the Onion to Grow Your Brand
So here’s what you need to do. You said a few things that I have some questions on. Guys, when you find yourself in this position, “Oh no, it needs to be a bit more clear, it needs to be a bit more concrete.” Peel back the onion! It’s really simple.
I’m going to go back to my old network marketing days. You’re going to peel the onion. So you said, “I help them find purpose.” Okay, what does that mean? Purpose to do what? What kind of purpose? Next, what does identity mean? You said they’re going to secure their identity. I don’t know what that is.
How?
What?
Why?
Where?
What do you mean?
What is identity?
Tell me more. And when you write it down say, “But what, why?” Give me an example. Dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig! Sometimes you guys are going to ask yourself “Why” twenty times before you get to what the actual thing is.
Consider This Example
Let’s say Zipporah, that you do this exercise and you find that you finally get to this core thing that says, they journal to get to know God. They journal because I journaled, and I got to know God. And when I got to know God, I started to hear from Him. Maybe my next step was to find more happiness in my life.
And then I started to see that maybe He had a bigger purpose over me. And then I started to recognize that my identity was rooted in the world all from journaling. You’re thinking too big because you are over here on this side of the problem.
Okay, here’s another example. Maybe Zipporah does this exercise and she’s like, “Why, why, why, why, why, why?” And she gets to the root, and it says, I learned to forgive the past. And you found that learning to forgive the past was the key to unlocking all these things that she’s saying.
Do you guys understand how that is so much more tactical, tangible, and touchable? So you’ve got to go from I want to do all this, “Ah the rainbow!” I’ve got to start with this itty bitty corner over here in this one specific thing that I did in the past. I’m going to teach people to do that one thing that eventually led me to the rainbow that I’m now living underneath.
Get Known for One Core Thing
Don’t be afraid of that. You’re not going to hurt your brand by getting smaller. You‘re going to help your brand, you’re going to grow your brand, and you’re going to grow your business. How do you get known for one core thing? That’s the question. Write it down on your paper. How do I get known for one core thing and what is it? It took me 13 years to figure it out. It might take you a while. That’s okay.
Get Going
Move Your Feet
Take Action
Mess Up
Be willing to fail forward. But be looking for that answer, be prayerfully seeking it, be talking to the people that you serve. And have an open heart around the fact that you may not know what it is, but they will tell you. Your people will tell you what it is they need from you. Be receptive, be a vessel, and be available.
Also, Be Willing to Pivot
Sometimes, you might need to allow yourself to pivot. What I’m trying to say here is, don’t let your ego get in the way because it’s really annoying to be told that what you have is not exactly right or it’s not exactly niched in enough. Welcome to the club. We’re here to be seriously successful business owners, yes?
You’re here to rise to your full capacity for the Kingdom of God and what He’s called for your life and the people that He has in store for you. And the only way you can do that is to get out of your own way.
Stop quitting and starting over.
Stop shifting all around.
Stop chasing the offer.
Get rooted in the thing that you have done that made a big transition in your own life, and teach other people how to do it. That is the secret to your success.
