Do you find yourself with a chaotic summer schedule? Is your summer causing a pattern interrupt that has left you feeling like you can’t get everything done? I am going to share with you how crazy my summer has been and give you 4 tips to help you find peace when your daily routine has been disrupted.
Find Peace During Your Busy Summer Schedule
Sometimes we just have to take a step back and find some peace and perspective in the current situation and the reality we find ourselves in. These four tips will help you have the heart shift you need in your life to thrive during this busy summer.
How my summer schedule has disrupted my daily routine
We are currently doing home renovations to a house we moved into about 9 years ago with pink walls and pink tile, and over 20-year-old carpet. We are finally able to redo the floors and I couldn’t be more excited! But it has caused a major shift in my daily routine.
We had to completely move out of our house and we are living in our camper outside the house. So now we are using the restrooms inside, we have the workers here, it’s loud, then why not throw family vacations into the mix! We had a family reunion for five days with 20 people in one cabin. And, my team and I are gearing up for the next Podcast to Profit Mastermind launch.
There have been levels on levels of pattern interrupt for me. I thrive in a routine, a clean tidy schedule with work blocks, and my morning routine every day. That hasn’t been happening. I had this dream of having all this time to work on projects during the home renovation, but I have to balance fun time with the kids and business as I’m sure you can relate! My summers are usually structured, but this summer everything that helps me be successful is out the window.
4 tips to help you find peace in the messy seasons
1. Accept your reality that this new summer schedule is here for a few months
There is nothing we can do about a chaotic schedule and pattern interrupt. This is the time when we have to take a step back and say this is exactly what it is right now, and it’s ok.
We have to learn to find blessings in these seasons that pull us away from the routines that have created such a comfort level in our life. Sometimes our current reality is just a growth process God is putting us through.
What happens if you don’t accept reality?
You will start to feel anxious, frustrated, or even depressed.
You will become resentful and negative, projecting all of that negativity on your family, and your work is not going to be any better for it.
Instead, let’s say “This is where I sit. I am going to be excited about what God is showing me and what God is doing in this season.”
2. Pray for peace during your hectic schedule
I get high anxiety when there is a pattern interrupt coming my way. What I have been learning about God is that He is always there in every situation and circumstance.
When you pray for peace, you are asking God to release His peace over the situation.
Ask God to bless this season.
Ask God to show you what He wants you to learn in the chaos.
Remember there is always God’s peace and some hidden blessing that is going to come from a chaotic time. I have been blown away by the amazing things I have experienced already with my busy summer schedule. I am rolling with the punches for the first time in years and am finding a lot of growth in so many areas. It has forced me to slow down and I have been able to find peace on a different level than ever before.
God’s presence is so prevalent in things that are hard. It helps us to cling to Him in the midst of all the difficulties. There is so much growth and positioning of our hearts when things are not perfect around us.
3. Shift your perspective to find peace in turmoil
Invite God into the process.
Allow God to lay out the perfect schedule and timeline.
Look for the blessing, rest, and favor.
In a time when you think things may crumble, they don’t. In this busy summer season, I couldn’t do all the work I normally do, and guess what happened? Last month was one of my highest revenues of the year so far. Everything I thought I couldn’t keep up with, God created a team to help me with it all and I saw growth.
It is all God. Yes, I take action, but I am also obedient. Sometimes we have to stop taking action and do a to-don’t list. Sometimes we have to focus on the right here and right now and choose to say yes to His peace and the weirdly wrapped gifts from God.
You can’t create in your mind what you think God’s gifts are going to look like. You have to be open in your heart to receive the gift no matter what the wrapping looks like. When you open the gift what is inside is exactly what you need, when you need it, 100% of the time.
4. Modify the expectations of your summer schedule
One of the things that would have set me up for failure to experience the gifts God has had for me in this season is if I had maintained the expectation that I had to keep up with what I usually do.
Sometimes you have to modify your expectations of yourself, your business, your family, or your schedule, so you can be a bit freer to hear from God and experience Him in a new way. This new experience with Him comes because you are finding beauty in something that shouldn’t be beautiful.
God is proving to you no matter what you are going through, no matter how messy or stressful it may be, there is a beautiful purpose inside of it because God is everywhere.
A Bible verse to help you find peace
I pray you are able to use these four tips to be able to find peace in your chaotic season as I have in my summer schedule. I want to end with one of my favorite Bible verses.
Numbers 6:24-26
“The Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. The Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.”
