FULL EPISODE TRANSCRIPTION:
(00:00):
Hey friends. I am sitting outside with my mom’s new puppies. Oh my gosh. She has two adorable, tiny little French Bulldogs. And I told her don’t bother coming home because your Bulldogs, they won’t be here. So I’m recording this from my phone in the company of two adorable, cute cuddly puppies in case you hear anything, that’s what’s up. Sorry, not sorry, because I am definitely in paradise right now.
(00:36):
Anyways, I wanted to record this quick bonus episode for you, because what I’ve noticed is as I meet with clients, one of the number one issues that y’all are facing is what the heck is my content going to be? What should I talk about? And I’m stuck. So let’s do some content, brain dumping, content brainstorming today so that you know, what the heck your stuff should be about on your podcast, your blogs or your videos.
(01:15):
Before we dig into our content brainstorming session, that got weird. I want to remind you guys that I have the number one course for starting, launching, scaling and monetizing a podcast. Podcast Pro University. I have helped over 300 women, and men actually, just like you launch, scale, set up and strategize a successful podcast. Strategy, everything from name to tagline, to description, to content, to titles, to getting incredible people on your show.
(01:55):
And most importantly, the strategies behind growing an organic, authentic audience using podcasting, letting your podcast serve as your funnel as the very first touch point for people to find you so that you can then convert them into email list subscribers into new leads, into Facebook group members, and ultimately people who buy from you buy coaching or products.
(02:19):
It all starts from the podcast. If you’ve been wondering, what is the secret, Stef, to actually growing a big thriving community who trusts you and who actually believes in what you market and spends money to work with you? The secret is this.
(02:37):
You and me here, talking together, having fun authentically communicating through my podcast. If you want to set that up in your business, which you absolutely should. I wish I had done it sooner. Go to podcastprouniversity.com and I will set you up for success with your very own show.
(03:31):
Okay. You guys, let’s map out your content strategy. So here’s what I want you to do. Get out a sheet of paper or get out your phone. And we’re going to come up with a really simple, fun exercise right now for you to brainstorm what you’re going to be talking about on your next podcast, talking about in your next videos or social or wherever you show up, what the heck you should be creating.
(03:56):
The first thing I want you to do is I want you to write down who you think you serve, who do you serve? Write it down. So for me example, I serve Lola, right? She is a 35ish to 37 year old woman. She’s got three kids, and she is trying to start and scale an online business, but she wants to do it authentically, not using ads.
(04:22):
She wants to connect with people while building something authentic and organic and evergreen, and she wants to do it through courses and or coaching. So who is your person? Just a couple sentences on your person. Okay. Step two. What are the triggers? I want you to write down 10 triggers that your person is experiencing. 10 problems right now, imminent problems. Stuff you know that’s keeping them stuck.
(04:53):
What are 10 things? It can be one word or it can be a sentence. Doesn’t matter to me. Just write down 10 triggers or problems your person is experiencing. So if I was doing this exercise for Lola, here’s what I would say. Number one, analysis paralysis. Over analyzing all the different ways she can do this. Number two, experiencing fear of judgment.
(05:22):
If she actually goes full force and starts the podcast, or does the videos or whatever, who’s going to judge her. And is she just going to fail? Number three? How does she create revenue? She’s super hyper focused on making money instead of first cultivating trust, which is where I come in, right? Number four, she’s struggling with, if she should do video versus podcasting.
(05:50):
Number five, she thinks she needs a stellar website and email marketing in order build a successful audience. P.S. Spoiler, false. Number six. She is unwilling to invest in herself to get help or to get coaching or courses. Typically, not all of you guys, but some of you are really struggling with that mindset block. Number seven, she’s totally overwhelmed and overworked in her life.
(06:20):
So it’s causing issues for her to create more time and space to do her business. I think we’re on number eight, number seven, I’ll throw in a bonus in case I’m on number seven. I don’t remember number seven. She’s trying to find ways to automate, but doesn’t know where to start. Number eight, she’s afraid to ask for help and support from her spouse or from others who can help her navigate this crazy busy stuff she’s facing in her business, along with raising her kids.
(06:52):
Number nine, she has, comparisonitis like what? She’s always on social media, comparing herself to the successes of others. Instead of putting her head down and doing the work and number 10, she has no idea how to partner with God and what he wants for her business. She is super focused on what she should do instead of what God is asking her to do. Those are my 10 things.
(07:18):
Okay. So you write your 10 things. And then on the other side of the paper number at one through ten, and you’re going to write a solution for each of those 10 things. I don’t remember what my 10 things were. Cause I’m sitting here playing with puppies. However, if I was to talk specifically about some of the, some of the issues that I know that I mentioned, like comparisonitis, well, what is the solution for her having comparisonitis?
(07:46):
It’s me doing an episode on how to beat or how to cure comparisonitis and put your head down and get to work really right? If there was an episode that I was going to do on YouTube versus audio as your thing, which one’s the right fit for you? So I can do an episode on that. Of course I’m driving to podcasting as you guys know, but I could still do that episode because I know that that’s an issue for her.
(08:17):
Another episode that I had mentioned her problem was how to ask for help. So I could have an episode on how to ask for help in your business and get support with the kids. That’s an episode. So you guys are going to write down your idea for a solution. Number one through 10 on the right side of your paper. Go ahead. I’ll wait.
(08:43):
I’ll just pet snuggly puppies while you guys are writing down all of your answers. If you could see them right now, you would not be listening to me cause they’re so cute. Okay. Whoo. Congratulations. You have your next 10 episodes. Now what I’m going to assume is most of the 10 things that you’ve written down are tacticals right. You wrote down how to do this, do this three steps to this, how to beat this.
(09:17):
So what I want you to do is write down one through three, or actually you can write 11, 12, 13, if you want. And I now want you to dig into the emotional side of your avatar. Okay? So on the left side of the page, again, 11, 12, 13, write down three emotions that your avatar is feeling. So if I was write down three emotions, that Lola is feeling, I would say, I would definitely say overwhelmed.
(09:48):
The second word I would use is defeated. And the third word I would use is maybe unmotivated or uninspired. So those are three emotions that she is experiencing. Okay. Now go to the right side of your page, write down 11, 12, 13. What are the three solutions that you have for your person to help them navigate or heal or go from that negative emotion space to a positive emotional space.
(10:26):
For example, for the first one, I said, I’m overwhelmed. So maybe I can have an episode on how to be overwhelmed with these three simple hacks. And it would be something like ask for help, get a morning and evening routine and number three, begin to time block. Okay. Then maybe the next one that I had mentioned was defeated. That was their emotion. How do I get them to stop feeling defeated?
(11:01):
I need them to have realistic expectations, right? So I would then do that episode on the super-fan calculation, which you guys know I did in episode 199, how many sales to actually expect every month? Because what happens is you guys, as Lola, you get defeated, because you have unrealistic expectations about where you are in the entrepreneurial process.
(11:26):
You’re not going to make money overnight. This is not a get rich quick. It takes a lot of time, energy, and effort to build a profitable business. That’s why podcasting is incredibly critical. Also I would plug my podcasting course, right? Because if I’m going to talk about a solution that has to do with audience creation, I’m going to plug podcast pro university as a solution. So you can also embed things that you guys market right there into your episodes. All right, there you go.
(11:55):
Now you have three more episodes that you can plug in. We are up to 13 episodes. All right, the next one, the next three things you’re going to do is you’re going to write down number 14, 15 and 16 on your sheet of paper on the left are three things you are super passionate about right now that can help your avatar.
So this can be tools, resources, books, a coach, a mentor, a program, a planner, a journal. Like what are three things or people or podcasts or books that you are super passionate about right now, write those things down on the left.
(12:43):
Okay. Now on the right side of your paper, how can you propose these to your avatar in a way that benefits both of you? So right now, I’m super in love with my Seasons of Soap Bible study. It’s been so incredible. I know that my Lola needs that, that all of you need it. So I have a $10 off coupon code for you guys. So maybe I can do an episode on Bible study made easy.
(13:13):
My favorite Bible study that you need now. I do a mini episode on it. Why it’s been amazing how much I love it. And then you, and then I tell you guys, your link to save 10 bucks is below. And I just put it in the show notes, which P.S., Your link is below. If you want to grab my favorite Bible study. Okay? The next one, maybe it’s a recent book.
(13:36):
Maybe it’s a coach. Or it’s a podcast. Maybe I’m doing a book review. If you guys remember at the beginning of the year, I gave you guys my three favorite books that I had read in the month of January. And I just did a recap. You have three more episodes now about tangible tacticals that can help them resources, education, or people. Now here’s the thing.
(13:59):
You don’t want to go all tactical then all emotional and then all resource driven. You want to sprinkle them and embed them together. So I want you guys to now reorganize all 16 episodes in no particular order. And just plug those in as a rough outline. All right. Now the next one, the next two episodes I want you guys to write down are two things that make you money that solved them their problems. Okay? How can you make money by solving their problems?
(14:35):
So number 17 and 18, for example, could be coaching. So you offer coaching. That could be number one. The second one, maybe you affiliate for your favorite course or your favorite app. Like I’m an affiliate for my favorite Bible study. Write those things down. Maybe you have a program, maybe you have a course. Maybe you have a product. And if you only have one, just write the one down.
(15:00):
If you don’t have anything you might want to consider, just starting as an affiliate for somebody. I have plenty of episodes on affiliate marketing. So you’re going to write that down. Then you’re going to think about how do I pose this in an episode. So if I offer coaching, I can do an episode for Lola on why investing in yourself will 10X, your profit, or how investing in myself 10X my profit.
(15:31):
Do an episode on the value of investing in ourselves and then do what pitch my coaching, maybe the second one. Maybe I do an episode on podcast pro university on my course. So the episode could be the number one way to drive an organic thriving audience. Podcasting. I do a whole episode on podcasting and I pitch my course. You guys need to have these episodes that are really specific on what you do and offer because yes, we sprinkle it in.
(16:01):
Yes, we can kind of like lightly promote what we sell, but we should sometimes just go there, like have an entire episode on what you offer as implementation, whether it be coaching or courses or affiliates or products or whatever, and then sprinkle those throughout.
All right, last two, I’m getting you to 20 episodes. Girl, let’s do this. Number 19 and 20 is two upcoming dates, holidays, milestones, goals that are coming up that you can help them get excited about, lean into, prepare for, get hyped up about.
(16:49):
So for example, in my market, two things that are coming up one, I’m going to be a speaker at an event on December 5th. So I’m gonna start talking about that event, driving people to it. The next one is end of year. So of course, end of year planning, goal setting, vision casting, all of that is coming up. So those are some things that we can begin to plan into.
(17:11):
If I had a launch, I would be planning into my launch, all of that. So what is upcoming event wise, promotion-wise or holiday, right? Like if you’re a busy mom and you’re specifically talking to other moms about crafts, that’s your brand, you can, you know, that Christmas is coming up and maybe you have a specific few episodes about Thanksgiving and Christmas and crafting with the kids or Halloween crafting or whatever your thing is.
(17:39):
Maybe if you meal prep and that’s your thing, you know holidays coming up and holiday weight gain is going to be a concern. So time specific episodes, write those down number 19 and 20, and then think about what are the solutions that I can provide. So for example, if I know end of year goal setting is coming up, I can do an episode.
(18:01):
That’s how to make 2021 your most profitable year, yet five ways to explode into 2021. Why you shouldn’t throw away Q4 planning, like how to vision cast your, how to vision cast a business that’s partnered with God. Like I have all of these different episodes that I can do around goal setting. There, you have it. You now have 20 episodes. That’ll take you through the rest of the month, if not into next month. Now, here’s one other bonus tip for you guys.
(18:36):
Those of you doing podcasting do two a week for the rest of the year. I’m telling you, when you go from one to two, your audience has a higher expectation and they have higher gratification because they get more results, right? Your solutions start to solve more problems for them, which in turn creates more trust.
And if any of you know anything, you know that in January, it is typically one of the highest months for revenue, January and February, because people are ready to get their lives together.
(19:11):
They’re excited to spend money, taxes, start flowing in a well for some people. And it’s just a really great time to launch, your coaching, your programs, do a relaunch, do a promotion. And so how, what can you do to start to prepare for that? You can double down on your funnel, which is our podcast.
(19:35):
Now, if you don’t have a podcast, this is literally the time. Hear me, what better time than November-ish October/ November-ish when things are kind of slow, everybody’s got like this kind of loose structure going on with the kids. Like business starts to kind of take a little breather in November, December. What better time to set up your new podcast, really batch out all of these 20 episodes, get them all prepared so that you can then launch into 2021 with an evergreen audience growth driver.
(20:13):
Like it catapulted my audience growth. You guys. The second that I started that I ever hit record on this show. You know what it’s done for me, my audience, my revenue, my coaching business, my programs. Like everything came from this show, truly. So I believe you need one. Especially if you were in this female entrepreneur space. We are multitasking.
(20:37):
We are not reading blogs as much. We aren’t necessarily watching videos. We are listening while we do. So you need to get in that space. Start serving. I’ve just given you 20 episode ideas. You’re ready. You’re so ready. Let’s do this. Let me help you bring your show to life. I will help you with the titling process, content, descriptions, intros, recording, editing every single step of the puzzle.
(21:05):
Step of the step of the staircase. Step of the way? I got you. I’ve got you every single step of the way. Go to podcastprouniversity.com and let’s do this. Alright, friend, just leaving you here now with a quick prayer. I just want to lift you up and pour just some happiness into your life. I pray that God brings you joy and excitement and fulfillment on a deep, amazing level today.
(21:34):
I pray that he highlights the blessings in your life and amplifies the joy that you’re feeling and just reminds you that he’s got a plan bigger and better than our plans could ever be. And to just trust in him and trust in his plan, trust in his direction for you and leap. Because God will catch you and he will not only catch you, but he will pave the way for you. If you let him in Jesus name, we pray. Amen. Love and light. I’ll see you later.
