She asks, “What juicy market research questions should I be asking in order to get to know my avatar? And, how do I get my affiliate products to sell?!”

Hey, Stef! This is Liz Henderson of The Tough Love Mom Podcast. I’m a CYC and PPU grad, and I’m about to go through Podcast to Profit, so excited! But I wanted to share with you really quick how my podcast launch went because I’m mind blown.
(00:13):
And it’s really just because of the podcast launch checklist and Podcast Pro University. It made a huge difference than how my podcast launch went. So I launched on December 13th and I launched with a decent social media following, but nothing crazy, nothing crazy on email list. I launched it.
(00:33):
I reached out to my friends and family via text message about how to review it and everything. And within 24 hours, we had almost a hundred reviews and within 72 hours, we hit 1000 downloads on the podcast. And I only had three episodes up in my podcast trailer.
(00:52):
Two weeks later, within two weeks, we hit 2,500 downloads. And actually, within the first week of the podcast, number seven in the United States in fitness, and in the weeks following, we’re only three weeks into this podcast, we’ve been in the top 50 or top 75, every single week in fitness, in the United States category.

So, so exciting. I’m really excited for this year of podcasting. I’m doing two-three episodes a week and it is a total blast. So thank you so much for Podcast Pro University. It’s just so fun walking in this calling. So thank you, Stef.

Hey, Liz! Girl, oh my goodness. I am so happy for you. I cannot believe the success that you have had. Actually, I can believe it, in such a short amount of time. I am so excited for you and for you to say the only thing you did was follow Podcast Pro University’s protocol for launching and utilizing the bonuses and the tools that I have inside of that course.

And you were able to just come out with such a huge success story in your launch to ranking, to having thousands of downloads in just a short amount of time, and just experiencing a massive momentum push. Yes and amen, girl. Cheers. I’m so here for it.

And guys, if you are ready to stop trying to build and scale a business using social media, hustling 24/7, feeling frustrated and overwhelmed on a daily basis as you waste time, making videos and coming up with content and just posting just to have no return on investment, no return on that time, to have the algorithm stuff you down and to find yourself just always frantically looking for the next biggest thing so that you can hurry and have that first movers advantage.

Look, podcasting’s the answer. Seriously, listen to me, listen to Liz. You just heard her. And we have over 600 and something students at this point who are realizing that the answer to growing a successful profitable, organic growing evergreen business online is not social, it’s podcasting.

It’s using your voice to impact the world and to bless people with the long form content that is in your heart, that is in your head, that you have been equipped with what God has purposefully equipped you with as you walked out your life, your experiences, your giftings, your spiritual gifts, your vocational gifts, it’s already all inside of you.

And all you gotta do is hang out behind a mic or a phone like me today. Totally recording from my phone, in my two-day-old PJs, because we are still in the hospital with Landon. But, hopefully, I’m recording this on Sunday, prayers that tomorrow his white blood count is down and we get to go home. But hey, you can make it work from anywhere.

BriAnne Bell is so awesome. She runs the Passive Income Nurse and she really has two super juicy questions for you today.

And those questions are number one, how can you get an affiliate marketing product or program to sell? Cuz it’s hard. It’s not hard. Everything’s hard till it’s not hard. Do you know what I’m saying? And then her second question is actually related to market research.

What questions should you be asking to really get to know your avatar, to really understand who your Lola is. So I’m excited to dive into this with you, guys, today. Let’s get started.

Hey, Stefanie! It’s BriAnne Bell from the Passive Income Nurse Podcast where I provide passive income solutions for nurses who want to be entrepreneurs. I have a question for you today. It’s a two-part question but the first part is what are some good juicy market research questions that I can ask?

I am a part of many nursing Facebook groups, and I’m really ready to dive in and ask those market research questions. Secondly, when it comes to affiliate marketing, what are some of your top strategy for marketing affiliate offers on podcast episodes?
(06:41):
And how long do you suggest testing an affiliate product with your audience? I’m an affiliate for your courses, CYC and PPU because I believe that my nurse who wants to be an entrepreneur needs these courses in her life. I need your help.
(06:56):
Also, I’m super excited to dive into Podcast to Profit with you in a few short days. I know I will get some of these answers in there, but I thought I would just drop them here and see what you had to say. Thank you so much, Stef!

Let’s take Brianne’s first part of her question, which was actually pertaining to market research. So, first of all, what is market research? Market research is finding out what your person’s wants, needs, desires, dreams are, setbacks, keywords, what are they searching for?
(07:30):
It’s like getting to know your person and you, guys, know that my avatar’s name is Lola. She totally has an identity. I even have a picture of her. She’s just this person in my heart and in my mind that every time I set out to create content or a new episode or optimize my courses or whatever, I have her in my mind and in my heart.
(07:50):
Because if you’re not talking to one person you’re talking to no one. Should I say that again? Let me say that again. If you’re not talking to one person you’re talking to no one, there is no such thing as I should just talk to everyone and hope that somebody sticks. Wrong.
(08:10):
You want to definitely zone into the one person. So one of the things that I teach, I teach it in CYC. I teach it again in Podcast Pro and I even teach again in Podcast to Profit because it’s so extraordinarily important. And as you grow your business, you’re gonna continue to get to know your person, your Lola at a deeper and deeper level.
(08:31):
And so it’s important that you continue to revisit who is my person. Guys, I’ve been doing this for three years, now, this specific calling work that I’m doing, I’ve been an online entrepreneur for 10 years, but in the past three years, I just had an epiphany about what my Lola wants, needs and is searching for like three months ago.
(08:52):
So it’s like this continuous evolution of going deeper and understanding them more and more, especially as your business grows and you have a wider base of people to pull.
(09:04):
So BriAnne, what you wanna do is you wanna find your ideal ICA Facebook groups. So you’re gonna go look for entrepreneur groups, nurse groups, definitely nurse groups, cuz your avatar is a nurse and you wanna start posting market research questions that solve, that really find the solutions to these open questions that you still have about who she is or who she isn’t.

And I think ideally the biggest questions that we are trying to understand and get the answer to, BriAnne, is what does my person want? What is the number one thing they really truly want? What’s the biggest desire or the biggest dream or the biggest want? That’s the number one thing you’re trying to figure out.
(09:46):
The second thing you’re trying to figure out is what’s keeping them from that solution. So what’s the biggest setback? What’s the biggest struggle? What’s the biggest obstacle? And the number one thing. So you’ve gotta find all of that data and then you have to figure out of all of this data, which is the number one want and which is the number one setback.
(10:12):
And those two pieces of information will make you millions of dollars. I am telling you when you finally get it, when you finally know, and it’s a long road and you’re constantly getting closer and you’re constantly gonna get closer, but you’re not gonna 100% know, you’re gonna think you know, believe me.
(10:30):
I thought I knew for a really long time and I just had another epiphany. I just went another level deeper with my Lola. So get as close as you can. And then every 90 days do more market research. So the questions I would be asking BriAnna are like, what’s the number one reason keeping you from quitting your nursing job?
(10:52):
Or if you’re a nurse trying to make money online, what have you tried that didn’t work and why? If you have a side hustle, how’s it working out for you? What is working? What isn’t working? If you want to be a nursepreneur, why haven’t you started yet? What’s holding you back?
(11:11):
If you’ve tried a side hustle and it failed, why? So you’re like asking these questions that are gonna get you the data that you need to come up with their solutions, polls, juicy questions, hopping on the phone with people.
(11:25):
I call ‘them five-minute brain pickers. You’ll never forget that cause it makes you think of nose picking, picking your nose, no, picking the brain of your person is a great tip and hack. Hope that helps you, BriAnne.

Second part of your question was how do I get affiliate products to sell? So for example, I know you’re an affiliate marketer for me. And so what you would really be looking for is who knows this affiliate product the best? It’s the creator of the product.
(11:52):
So you really wanna be partnered up with the creator of the thing that you’re selling the affiliate product. I make thousands of dollars a month. Affiliate marketing it’s super easy and it’s super fun. So BriAnne, what you wanna do is, for example, you could have me on your podcast, let me sell for you. Because it’s a win-win to get your person that you’re marketing for. It makes them a profit and it makes a profit.
(12:33):
And again, guys, like I wanna affiliate for more than like three or four things, like find the ones you’re gonna marry and then have that person be partnered with you. Hey, once a quarter, I need you to come on my podcast and sell your stuff to my audience.
(12:48):
I need you once a quarter to come into my Facebook group and to sell your stuff to my audience. So that your audience gets used to the person that you are marketing for. Cuz they’re a stranger, right, BriAnne? If your person finds you and loves you and loves your show, but you’re marketing Stef Gass’s products, they don’t know who Stef Gass is and maybe they don’t trust me.
(13:07):
So if you start bringing that person on and let them market, it’s like you guys are in a partnership together and that conversion’s gonna be a lot shorter. So that’s the first thing. The other thing is making sure you’re not marketing too many things.
(13:22):
So one problem with trying to affiliate market that I see is people are marketing like 10 things. They’re like, you could buy this if you need this or this if you need that. When you decide what you’re gonna market, ideally you’re only marketing one thing until you pass at least 2-300 K in revenue.
(13:43):
Truly, before you start adding more things, I wish I would’ve known that, believe me. It is so much more simple to build a scalable business on one solution. I promise you. Now, affiliate marketers typically are really excited about having a lot of options for their people.
(14:01):
That’s okay but it gets confusing for your market. So think about how you compare down to like your favorite two or three things brand and like go all in on those two or three solutions. And don’t give your audience whiplash, because then they’re so confused. They buy nothing.
(14:18):
So it’s really critical that whatever you decide to market, you’re really married to it, you’re consistently marketing it because another part of sales and marketing y’all is that it takes people now, I think it’s roughly 21, it’s somewhere in the twenties, 21 times of hearing something on repetition until the are even open to buying it, open to buying something.

We are so hyper distracted these days. So imagine if you’re marketing this course and this opportunity, and then you can buy this software and then you can coach with me and then you could do this thing and you’re marketing all these things.
(14:51):
Well, now you have to mention Stef 200 times and your audience is already so overwhelmed in their life that they don’t know. But if you’re constantly saying this course is the answer, this course is the answer and the answer to what, right?

What comes back to the market research question, what they really want and why can’t get it, that will literally solve all your financial problems for the rest of your life if you can get out of your own way and serve them from where they are at.
