defeat the enemy, strongholds and spiritual warfare
Hey Friend!
Today, I want to discuss scaling my business and the God-led steps I took to become successful.
Are you trying to scale a business, but are constantly wondering if it’s aligned with God’s will? Do you feel stretched thin, frustrated, anxious, distracted (my biggest issue), or unsure of where to turn next?
In this post, I’m discussing what God revealed to me while I was scaling my business. I grew this business with Him by way of prayer and discernment.
Sure, I have struggled and failed along the way, but I always turned back to Him. I’ve asked Him to help me scale my business so that it would glorify Him and not me.
Today, I’m combing through the six spirit-led strategies that helped me walk away from earthly methods of growth to scale a business that is truly God-honoring.
If you’re ready to grow with God, avoid the hustle, and truly work hard to be the hands and feet of Christ in your work, you’re in the right place!
Are you ready to find peace, purpose, and fruit in your business?
Let’s go!
Fun Facts About Scaling My Business God’s Way
Let’s begin with a couple of fun facts to start things off!
Fact #1: I deleted Instagram from my phone and out of my life for two years while creating a 7-figure company.
Fact #2: I stopped chasing followers, trends, and formulas, and God still blew my mind!
Fact #3: I don’t have a TikTok account because I don’t need one to grow a business – and neither do you!.
This isn’t about overnight success or hacks. It’s about holy strategy.
I’ll show you exactly how I built a sustainable business without selling my soul to social media, hustle, or get-rich promises. Those promises are actually lies, and we need to lean into God’s truth when it comes to creating a business that will be around for the long haul.
Scaling My Business Tip #1: Podcasting Over Platforms
The first thing God showed me about scaling my business beyond 7-figures was podcasting over platforms.
In 2018, I had a prophetic dream from the Lord to start a podcast. Long story short, I was trying to grow my business through social media.
I was all over the place – blogging, social media, YouTube, Clubhouse, and capitalizing on my kids. That was my reality, and I’m not proud of it. I thought it would resonate with my mompreneur target audience, but it all felt wrong. Discernment alarms were going off in my spirit. I knew there must be a different way to grow.
So, in October of 2018, I had a dream to start a podcast. I had no idea what He was talking about. “Hello…podcasting? Who am I? No one will listen to me!”
But the what-ifs weren’t bigger than my obedience to do what the Lord led me to do.
So, I plugged in my cheap, staticky microphone, created my own busted podcast art (don’t do that, friends), and got started!
I used this podcast to help the person I felt called to help in an audio format. At the same time, I did away with social media and did a social media fast for two years.
That’s right, I exchanged social media for long-form content. I didn’t have time to do YouTube videos with small children, and the fact that YouTube is so much harder (ask me how I know). I didn’t want to do blogging since I’m more of a verbal processor and not a writer, so I chose podcasting.
Exponential Growth With No Social Media
Let me tell you, friends, podcasting grew my business exponentially! Remember, I was off social media, too. My podcast grew from a few hundred dollars a month to a six-figure and then a multi-six-figure business in less than 24 months. I went from zero to 100,000 downloads in 12 months. It was insane!
Why was podcasting so fruitful? Because it’s an audible form of consumption. People are able to listen and connect with you. There’s no visual stimulation where we’re looking for the next dopamine hit.
The podcast created trust and loyalty. It built this long-form library of content where people could search for episodes and get to know me.
The podcast was generating so much trust so quickly, and I knew that was a leading from the Lord.
Proverbs 4:25-26 says, “Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path.”
What is your one platform going to be? Now go and marry it!
Let go of all the other stuff. I told my students the other day to go analyze all they were doing in their online businesses.
If it’s not producing leads, income, or lighting your soul on fire, lay it down!
Why do we keep doing all the things we don’t need to be doing if it’s not making a difference?
Scaling My Business Tip #2: Eliminate Unnecessary Things
The second thing God showed me was that I needed to let go of the “cool” stuff. That means cut out everything that doesn’t convert, like YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook groups, stories, and Clubhouse. By the way, 95% of those things weren’t converting anyway!
This convinced me that I needed to stop doing the things that weren’t producing leads or income. There’s a difference between doing things to get them growing and doing things that will never produce fruit. We should begin to discern that. God showed me that efficiency is obedience.
I had to prune to bear fruit.
How Can You Apply This To Your Own Business?
I want you to audit your time spent versus the return it produces. Track your platform-to-lead conversion and remove anything that causes stress or steals your peace.
John 15:2 says, “He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.”
Scaling My Business Tip #3: Get in the Word and off the ’Gram
The third thing I did was replace my scroll time with scripture. When I wake up and get into the Word more than the ‘Gram (Instagram), I’m working on myself and my relationship with Jesus Christ. I forced myself to get into the Word of God first until it became a habit.
As you work on your relationship with Jesus, you start to realize He’s always right here. He’s ever-present and steadfast. Relationships are two-sided, so that means youneed to show up too.
I had to discipline myself to get into the Word more often, but once I did, I felt so many benefits. I felt a shift in my business, my leadership role improved, anxiety melted away, and I got sober.
Everything in your life can be 100% better if you start here, but you’ve got to start! I know it’s hard, and we have so many excuses as business owners. We all have the same 24 hours in a day. Give Him your first fruits, friends. It is biblical, and it is sound advice. You desire 7-figures, and you want a thriving, fruitful business.
If you take nothing else from this post, get in the Word, or you will miss the way.
Joshua 1:8 says, “Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.”
Take that truth straight to heart and then open the Word.
Scaling My Business Tip #4: Saying No Is Okay
Every ‘yes’ costs you something; usually time, focus, or peace. Saying yes also produces something; sometimes stress, and sometimes opportunity.
You should weigh every single ‘yes’ and ask yourself, “What will it cost me and what will it produce for me?”
I’ve said no to things that many people would say yes to. From creating more freebies, to having too many offers, and sometimes to speaking opportunities. When weighing out the cost-benefit analysis of each decision, some yeses aren’t worth it for the kingdom business I am called to create.
What is the business you and God are designing together?
What is the business that you and God have in mind together? For me, I wanted a highly profitable income-generating business that was simple. I wanted it to feel easy. I’m done with hard; I want simplicity and ease in my work! Working less than 20 hours per week with the ability to drop off my boys and work out every day is what I wanted!
If you know what you want your business to become, you need to start making those decisions to create that business before it ever exists.
Before I was making money, I had to let go of the platforms that didn’t produce any sales. This required delegating and hiring interns in my company. I learned to hire my first person before I had the money to do it. I also learned how to invest in myself to do things faster, because time is money!
My business grew when my yes became sacred.
How Can You Apply This To Your Own Business?
I want you to use a decision filter.
Ask yourself, “Does this align with where I want my company to grow?”
Now, create some boundaries around this. Stop multitasking and stop wasting time. You have my full permission to delete social media apps. I deleted them every weekend for three years because I was too scared to delete them fully.
I ended up completely deleting them for 30 days. Then, everything exploded in my business, so I went on to eliminate social media for two years!
It’s so freeing to know that, in partnership with God, I created a business completely free of social media. We never ran a paid ad until I was well over $500K in annual revenue, organically from a podcast. Can I get an ‘Amen’?
Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.” It’s time for you to evaluate all your ‘yeses’ and perhaps start saying no to some things.
Scaling My Business Tip #5: Obedience Over Comfort
Obedience looked like going live, starting a podcast, launching messy, and taking action when God told me to go. When God gave me the nudge, I moved! If I’m not hearing from God, but I believe He’s moving me, I’ll take action. I usually ask him to slam the door if it’s not for me.
It may not feel natural, but if it is a nudge from God, it is necessary to move. Every time I stepped, God showed up.
Isaiah 30:21 says, “Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, ‘This is the way you should go.'” That is such a testament for my life, and something I lean on daily.
This is the way, walk in it.
Scaling My Business Tip #6: Fruit Over Followers
The sixth thing the Lord showed me as I was scaling my business is that fruit is more important than followers.
Vanity metrics don’t pay the bills; value does.
What did I do? I leaned into value and created great podcast content, with no idea if it was helping anyone. I started to do more episodes on the show instead of making reels or social media posts, because those don’t add value.
Use your value meter. What are you putting into the world around your niche that adds real value?
Doing this on a podcast is so easy! You can sit behind a microphone, make-up free, and coach, teach, inspire, and know you’re helping someone. Because it’s audible, it’s something people commit to all the way through.
Scaling is truly about service, not status.
When God changed my heart on this, I saw the money grow! This seems completely counterintuitive from what you might expect.
Galatians 6:9 says, “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.”
So keep pressing in, giving value, serving, and showing up when it’s not something that will go viral.
A podcast isn’t a feel-good method of growth, but it is a sustainable one.
Commit to Podcasting For One Year
Most people quit their podcasts by the 10th episode! I tell my students in Podcast to Profit, you need to commit to doing this for a year. We are going all-in on this method because it has the highest conversion of all other methods out there!
You can grow organically without having to spend money. This method is the easiest for you – no video marketing, and no blogging AI bots. It’s easier than anything else out there, but it doesn’t always feel good.
There’s no virality or likes, but it teaches you a new way of serving in your business. It takes a lot of faith and selflessness to show up on a podcast and think, “I hope this helps someone today.” Trusting the Lord because He has led you here may be the way He’s encouraging you to try something you’ve never done before.

Scaling My Business: Final Thoughts
God’s way is slower, and the world’s way is usually faster. We know if we build something overnight, it will often crumble (ask me how I know!). If we do things God’s way, it’s slower but much more sturdy and sustainable.
Sustainability is key in our kingdom businesses!
To recap for you, here’s what God showed me as I was scaling my business:
Prioritize podcasting over platforms
Let go of the “cool” stuff
Put the Word of God before socials
Get comfortable with saying no
Choose obedience over comfort
Desire fruit over followers
I pray over you right now that the Lord will encourage you to keep showing up in the messy middle, and to keep pursuing the journey and calling He has for you.
It’s been a hot minute since we’ve had a conversation around whether podcasting is right for you. A few people recently asked me, “How do I know for sure that podcasting is right for me or my business model?” That’s what I will discuss with you today.
