Live Coaching: What Should My Offer Be? Should I Change My Podcast Name?

Here’s a live coaching snippet to share with you from my program, Podcast to Profit, a six-month group coaching program for podcasters. No matter where you are on your podcasting journey, the questions answered in this coaching session will help you.  I help my students answer questions like “What should my offer be? Should I change the name of my podcast? How do I get out of my own way and keep moving forward even when I’m afraid?”

Should I Change My Podcast Name?

The Story Behind This Question: This Podcast to Profit student asked, “I changed my podcast name to Step Forward because it is part of the book I wrote.  My journey has been finding my voice and feeling confident to speak.  I love speaking now!  It lights me up.  So I help midlife women who are becoming entrepreneurs.  They are starting their entrepreneurial journey, rediscovering themselves, and finding their voice through writing, sharing their message using a microphone, or showing up on video.  I need clarity so that I can move on.  I don’t want to swirl anymore about my podcast name.” 

Stef’s Answer:  Let’s get clear.  Why not call your podcast Speak or Speak Up? Then your TSO statement can explain what kind of speaking and for whom.  As you target beginning female entrepreneurs, try this TSO statement: Find your voice as a new female entrepreneur.

How Writing a Book and Your Podcast Can Work Together

If you have written a book, consider it a lead generation tool or a nurturing tool.  As a lead generation tool, a book brings people into your brand where they can know, like, and trust you.  As a nurturing tool, a book helps your audience grow deeper in the area where they struggle.

Market your book on the podcast all the time.  People will say, “I want to read her book” as you share it on the podcast.  Your book should be present and mentioned in your online business, coaching, and podcast.  You can also mention your book by saying, “from the author of” and then the title of your book.

Also, remember that not everything about your online business or podcast has to have the same name. You do not have to model everything after your book or your book’s title. Your book is based on where you were at the point at which you wrote the book. 

Tips for Writing Your TSO (Tactical Specific Outcome) Statement

A Tactical Specific Outcome (TSO) Statement is the tagline for your online business or podcast that you can put on art or your website.  Keep fluffy words out of your TSO statement.  Be clear. When you use words such as “empowering” or “make a greater impact,” your audience is unsure what that means.  It feels and sounds nice, but what does it mean? Answer the question “Why am I here?” for your podcast listener by telling them in the STO Statement.

What Should My Offer Be?

Not sure what your coaching offer should be?  Unclear about the one pain point you solve for your clients? 

Stef’s Answer: As you start coaching, you get paid to do market research.  As you work with your first five or ten coaching clients, you will get clear on who your audience is and the one pain point you solve for them. 

For example, let’s say your audience struggles with relationships.  To invite them into a coaching call, you can say, “Are you struggling in your relationship with others, with God, or with yourself?  Need healing from trauma you are trying to work through?  Feel stuck and cannot move forward because of this hurtful relationship? Come, grab an Unstuck Relationship Coaching Call with me, and I’ll help you navigate this from a biblical perspective.”

Here, you mention three pain point areas because you are trying to get market research and get your first five clients in the door to learn more about what you can help them solve. 

You can call it an Unstuck Relationship Coaching Call because for now the common denominators are being stuck in relationships, and you can help them get unstuck.

You won’t call it an Unstuck Relationship Coaching Call forever.   The title for your coaching calls is less critical than a podcast name and a TSO Statement.  Besides, your podcast listeners are already your super fans who are obsessed with you and don’t mind what you name your calls.  They are hot traffic who want your help.  Eventually, they will be telling you what to name your coaching calls!

How to Price Your Coaching Calls

As you begin your coaching business, tell your podcast listeners, “This is a great price for the first five people because I am beginning my coaching business.”  People are never upset when you explain why your price is so wonderful.

Some new coaches do coaching sessions for free to get the first five clients in the door.  You don’t have to do it for free, but you do need to get started to begin gathering your market research.

Taking the Next Step in Your Online Business, Coaching, or Podcast

Pushing through the insecurities, fears, and frustrations is where the battle lies when taking the next steps in your online business, coaching, or podcast.  We think we need to know the how-to, but the how-to is the easy part.   Inside Podcast to Profit, you’ll learn the how-tos to grow your online business, begin coaching, and launch your podcast.  By taking the next step, you get out of your own way and push through the fear that no one will listen or no one will buy.

Overcoming Fear in Your Online Business, Coaching, and Podcast

Fear, insecurity, and indecision are normal, but they are not from God.  He is not a God of confusion.  You’re human, but when you allow fear, insecurity, and indecision to stay, you play small. And you miss out on the clarity God has for you and the impact you can make.

Instead, chase after the clarity that comes from moving your feet forward.  When you move, God can speak and be present to guide you in the journey. When you stay stuck, He can’t do anything because He is waiting on you.

Feel fear about something? That means there’s fruit inside of it for you. When you are afraid, press in.  By doing so, you grow your fear capacity to handle bigger things.  You can do big, incredible, audacious things for God.

Remember Who Your Business, Coaching, and Podcast is For

Remember that your online business, coaching, and podcast aren’t about you anyway. When you sit behind a microphone, get on your first coaching call, or publish your blog, it’s not about you.  It’s about who you can help.  It’s about being used by God to speak life. 

God will show up.  He will speak through you and give your clients clarity and what they desperately need.  Trust Him, push through your fears, and step forward into action.
