(04:21)
Let’s talk success secrets. Hey friends. I am so excited to be chatting with you today. As we get even closer to the beginning of a new decade, I really started thinking about all the people that inspire me. Each of them in their own ways, some of them are Christians. Some of them are not Christians, some of them are women, some of them are men. Some of them are old, some of them are young, but there’s really that group of people that I go and I think of when I wanna read a good book, when I want to listen to a podcast and interestingly, most of them are millionaires.
(05:01)
Oh, I love it though. Right? Cause like we’re always, we should always strive to learn up and to grow up elevate in our life, our business, our spirituality. So the other day I was thinking, what commonalities do these key people that I look up to have and how can I better implement their habits, their success habits, so to speak into my own life. So I came up with six things that these millionaires have in common. I mean, I’m talking people from Oprah to Trent Shelton to Chris Harder is a big one for me, all the way to people in our, in our own sphere like Angie Lee and Jenna Kutcher and the people that are in the podcasting world with us and everyone in between.
(05:54)
Those are the people that I’m thinking of. When I dig into these millionaire success habits. First one number one is that all of these people protect their peace. And this is actually a term from Trent Shelton and his whole M.O. behind this is that he doesn’t get on technology on social media, on his phone, into his inbox until 12 o’clock, every single day, 12 o’clock his clients know it. His company knows it. Even his wife knows it. And I love that.
(06:27)
I love that because here we are and we’re getting on social immediately. First thing, when we wake up most of us and we’re always available thinking that that’s what creates more success. If I’m always available, that’s what will create success. That’s what will bring more people into the community. That’s what will get me to sell more. But guys that’s counterintuitive because now we’re exhausted. We’re overworked, we’re overwhelmed and we are so readily available for everyone other than us. And when we are pouring from an empty cup, we are pouring some bitter coffee.
(07:03)
Okay. And when we are pouring from a full cup of amazing freshly blended breakfast blend from your favorite coffee shop, and you took the time to, you know, crush the beans yourself with your little grinder, and then you used your distilled water. And like you created the best cup of coffee, the experience from a visual perspective of drinking that coffee that took you a while to prepare, and you took the time and care to do it properly versus that like black bitter coffee from yesterday because you’re overworked overwhelmed with no time, it’s a different experience.
(07:44)
And so that is your life when you protect your peace. And so obviously I don’t think that most of us are in the financial position yet, to not do anything until noon, then focus on self care. However, I think each of us can carve out 30 minutes to an hour a day, even two hours a day of protecting our peace. And so for me, this looks like waking up. I actually wake up about an hour before the rest of my family, I get up at 5:50. I keep scaling it back by 10 minute. It’s because that time is so precious to me. And I’m really intentional.
(08:26)
I fail sometimes, but I’m really intentional about keeping my phone away from me so that I can make my coffee, sit down with my puppy, get my comfy cozy blanket, grab With God, She Rises journal and I read the scripture that we’re working on for my Bible study that week. I pray and then of course, whatever else I need to do to prepare for my day so that I am not in a rush, not hurried when my family wakes up. It’s amazing. So how can you implement protecting your peace? Every one of the millionaires and really incredibly successful people that I follow have a similar routine.
(09:09)
Number two, number two, they have crazy boundaries. All of ’em. They say no to clients they don’t wanna work with, to sponsorships that don’t align with their morals and values and their customer base. They say no to doing everything for everyone, they say no to getting underpaid. And I think that is something that again, newish entrepreneurs and people that are trying to go next level, we think saying yes to everything is what moves the needle. But I believe in fact that when you say no to more that’s when you move the needle, that’s when you excel and grow and elevate in a certain arena in your niche, in what you want to do and become.
(09:53)
And it also helps you to get more defined in the stuff that you actually want to be doing. And this is tough, but this is a trait that every single one of those people that I follow they’re vocal about it. They also say no to pressure. They say no to putting on a facade, I guess. They’re just who they really truly are. And that is saying yes to your authenticity, but saying no to societal pressure. It’s also along with inside their business saying no to the stuff that doesn’t light them up, have the courage to say no.
(10:29)
Number three. They invest in themselves. Every single one of the millionaires and very incredible influencers that I am talking about right now. They all have coaches, they all do masterminds. They all take courses, they go to live events. They’re constantly pouring into themselves. In fact, a couple of the people that I follow are vocal about their $10,000 coaches. You guys imagine, imagine that’s crazy, but it’s beautiful at the same time, because we can see a correlation between spending money on personal development and growth, and actually watching that person blossom and develop before our very eyes.
(11:19)
There is something that’s priceless about learning from someone that is two steps ahead of you. And believe me, I have sat where you sit, I still sit where you sit sometimes and say, do I really need a coach? Me the woman that coaches multiple people every single week, sometimes every day, sometimes I get there in that head space and I’m like, I don’t need a coach. I don’t need to spend more money on this right now. But then when I hear myself thinking that I know that’s the exact moment that I need to push myself to invest in myself.
(11:54)
Every time that I do it, my business grows, the bank bank account expands. My heart opens a little bit more. I hear something I was meant to hear guys. And those millionaires are doing that. And they’re doing it at a high level. I’m gonna go as far as to say that is a majority of their spending budget is personal development. Are you doing that? Ask yourself, are you investing in your growth? Because if you wanna scale and grow, we’ve got to implement the habits of the people that we look up to.
(12:34)
Number five, or actually number four, they take action before they are ready. They are action takers. They are not sitting there thinking about if it’s a good idea to launch the podcast. Is it a good idea to write the book? Should I? How can I possibly create my new passion project? I don’t know if anybody would listen or buy, or should I put on, you know, this mastermind, these people are taking massive flipping action before anything is clear. Every one of these millionaires, they are diversified. They are brave.
(13:18)
I’m going to go out on a limb and say that there was never a moment where they said this is just making perfect sense. It’s easy. It’s laid out. I have all of the strategies in place before I launch. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that they launched before things were figured out that there’s messy, messy mistakes. I’m gonna go ahead and say that they probably failed so many more times than they have ever told you about. And a million things in between taking massive action before you’re ready.
(13:55)
I’m gonna challenge you in 2020, if there is one of these principles that you bring in and you start to really focus on defining in your own business, it’s that one. Stop overthinking, stop sitting in fear, and I’m with you. You guys just yesterday, I had a husband and wife that I was coaching and I look up to them. I look up to them, Hey girl, I know you’re listening right now, Lola. She’s like my actual Lola, you guys, she has three boys. She’s married. She runs a successful food company product based like it’s literally Lola she’s even a three on Enneagram, three wing. Okay. Like she’s actually Lola.
(14:37)
Her husband was on the call with her. I’ve only ever coached one man in my entire career. And I was like a little bit nervous about it. I’m like, Ooh, for some reason, men are intimidating for me. And anyway, I pushed through that. I’m like, I’m gonna treat him just as I would treat any other client. I’m not gonna change what I would say, I’m not gonna filter myself, I’m not gonna get businessy just because there’s a male on the other end of this coaching call. And by the end of the call, I told him, you’re my second guy I’ve ever coached. And he said, I’m so jealous who was the first?
(15:18)
So my point there is like, I still get afraid and unsure. And I still wanna hide behind my fears on my comfort zone and then make excuses as to why that’s not a good idea. You know? Like why, oh, I shouldn’t go do public speaking at that event cause you know, I don’t really like to travel. That’s not the truth. It’s because I’m scared I’m gonna pee my pants on the stage.
(15:40)
Like let’s get real, but I’m willing to take action while I’m afraid because the millionaires and the not even the fact that they’re millionaires, the people I look up to morally that have paved the way for us have done it. So if they can do it, so can I, and so can you. Number five, they focus on what really matters. AKA, what will they be left with at the end of the day, the people that I look up to, they’re not focused on, you know, hustle harder and do more and relentlessly pursue and want and visibility and growth.
(16:24)
The people that I’m looking up to are doing kingdom work. And that is why they’re pushing to grow bigger and scale, impact more people. They have mission projects that are doing incredible things in the world. They are doing things for their family, for their parents, for their community, for their church, for themselves, so that they can live at the optimal level so that they can be healthy and energetic and find freedom. Like all of those things are so critically important and they’re not selfish.
(17:00)
In my opinion, all of those things are what God intended for us. The scripture says, God wants us to experience Heaven on earth, right? And ask not, have not. I believe these incredible mentors that I look up to they’re focused on what they will be left with, the legacy and the impact they’re making on the world. So I challenge you to take a look inside of your mindset of your business goals, of all of the vision statements you’ve created for next year of why you’re doing what you’re doing.
(17:41)
Why are you selling that product? Why are you creating that podcast? That course, working with that client? Why? And if you hear a whole bunch of me, myself and I in that answer, I challenge you to think beyond you, think beyond want, think about them. Think about impact. I know it’s hard, but get rid of all of the need that you’re facing today and think about if need wasn’t a thing. And if I just went out there and I could literally do anything to create a legacy to impact change. What would that look like? I want you to feel into that because when you can grow beyond yourself, grow beyond self, that is what will bring you joy, abundance, freedom.
(18:34)
So get your mindset away from want. I hope that made sense. Anyway. Good luck with that one. Hey Lola, real quick. Since we’re on the topic of growth and staying aligned with people that will lift us up and kind of implementing all of those growth strategies. I wanna introduce you to my friend, Jeanette Tapley. She is actually in a mastermind with me right now and she has her own podcast. And I wanna tell you guys a bit about it because I think you’re gonna love it since you’re a podcast human, hello, you’re listening to this one right here.
(19:09)
Jeanette’s show might also be for you. Her show is called It’s Time for Coffee. And it’s all about meeting you, right where you’re at. Because so often we feel lonely and like we’re doing life all alone and by ourselves, but Jeanette and the impeccable amazing, inspiring guests that she brings on want you to feel heard, valued and like you’re never alone. No matter what stage of life you are in her heart for friendship shines through each episode and her easy conversations are just what we need to feel more connected. Plus she loves Jesus and coffee.
(19:44)
So I think you guys are gonna love it. Go check out It’s Time for Coffee anywhere you listen to podcasts, add it to your queue. The last one, number six, number six, they’re acting from a place and a space of expansion. And what I mean by that is they’re really working for a cause that’s bigger than themselves. And they are all being fueled by their higher power. Every single person who I listen to their shows, read their books, follow them, take their courses. The coaches that I work with or hire, they are all spiritually led. And there’s a couple of them that it may not even be Christianity necessarily, but they are spiritually led.
(20:31)
And, I think that that is everything. If you are letting Holy Spirit direct you and speak through you and help you take the steps you need to take, there’s no way, there’s no way you won’t feel incredibly fulfilled every single day as you wake up to pursue your mission. And so I believe one of the number one traits that these people all share is that they’re not making choices based on their head, but they are making choices that are actually spiritually led, Holy Spirit, divine direction. We all have it. We’re just blocking it, because we think we have to figure everything out.
(21:15)
We are the only ones that can make the money. We are the only ones that can work harder to get more likes and funnel more leads in. And oh my gosh, I gotta rework the sales page one bajillion times and I have to have the name just right. No success is not in the details. Success is not in having everything perfectly mapped out, success is in trusting that the right clients will be led to you. That God has got this plan for you that is already created. That all you have to do is trust and say, I am here. I am your vessel.
(21:49)
Move my feet, open my mouth. I am yours. Break me down and rebuild me so that I can do your work. That’s it? That is it. And I believe each of those people, each millionaire and person that I look up to, they share that quality and they’re vocal about it. They’re vocal about it. So I wanna leave you with those six things and I want to leave you with some homework. I’m giving you guys a lot of homework this month. Sorry, not sorry. I want you to consider which of those six things you’re doing well, highlight them.
(22:25)
So protect your piece. Say no, invest in yourself, take action before you’re ready, focus on what really matters and the legacy that you will be leaving. And lastly, working from a spiritual place, trusting in divinity and really working for a cause that’s bigger than you. Okay? Highlight the ones you’re already doing, do more of it. Okay? You can pour fuel on that fire. And then I want you to circle or highlight in a different color the ones you are not doing well or doing at all.
(22:56)
Ask yourself why? Do the work to reframe the mindset and to take action on the stuff that you need to refine? None of us are perfect, but each of us have the opportunity to grow through the stuff we are lacking in. And there is a solution. My friend, my sister, to every single problem in your life. Do the work. If you need help, ask for help, pray, pray. Do you remember when I said, ask not get not, is that what it is? Something like that. Talk to God about this guys. He wants to hear from you. He is waiting for you to say, ask me, show me, move me, speak through me. I am yours. Surprise me.
(23:45)
Are you willing to trust Him with your life? Are you willing to trust Him with your life? All right, my beautiful. I can’t believe we’re almost at the end of a decade, praying over you now. Leaving you with courage, faith, trust, praying over you right now that you are filled with spirit, courage that you know that next year you were created to do something amazing. No matter how small that amazing might be or might feel to you, that you are a piece of this divine puzzle.
(24:19)
You are a piece of the kingdom work here on earth. And I want you to know that you can’t fail because God’s with you. I want you to know that there’s nothing you can do wrong. All the steps that you take are preparing you and every “failure” is really just a piece of your testimony for the future and that you have the power to grow through any setback, any fear, any loss, any trial that you might sit in today. I am here for you. Love you, sending you a big virtual hug. I will see you soon, as always, love and light, Stef.
