Hey sisters! Today you get to be a fly on the wall of this live coaching session with my friend, Allison Jordan, from The Better Belly Podcast and Allison already had a super successful gut health business, and basically wanted to then optimize that business to grow and scaling using podcasting. Then we discuss how she could potentially monetize beyond doing time for money, right? Exchanging time for money.
0:47
And because she shows up in a really big way in her existing business, doing it in a way that maybe serves her more passively, and more online versus in person so you get to listen in on all of those juicy strategies today. I know you’re absolutely going to love this live session.
1:07
Now, if you have been on the fence about coaching, let me just tell you, the coaching prices are going up on January 1st, as they do every year. There is only a certain capacity of clients that I can take, and I’m at the limit which is such an incredible blessing. I am so grateful for each and every one of you who has coached with me, who is currently coaching with me, all of you existing clients, some of which I’ve had for over a year, and you guys are just incredible.
1:41
However, when you begin to grow and scale your business there will come a time, sisters, that coaching has to be the very final option of working with you. Because, what? Time is money and you have to grow your options and grow your pricing in line with demand so I have reached that limit, I think, is going up quite a bit on January 1st.
2:05
Because I really just can’t have any more clients on the books, or it takes and cuts into my boundaries with my family, which you guys just heard me talk about on Wednesday. Anywho, I’m just giving you a heads up if you haven’t booked coaching with me yet this is the time.
Do it now, you can do it as a Christmas gift, you can ask for it, for a New Year’s present from your family, you can just do it by investing in yourself to leap into 2021 with a clear strategic vision with clarity, maybe mapping out the course together, whatever you need. I’m here to serve you, you can book a session, at current pricing, until 12/31 of this year by emailing support@stefaniegass.com.
Act now, act fast. Once all of my availability is gone, this offer is off the table until 2021 and you will come in at the new pricing. So love you guys, I’m grateful I’m excited to continue serving you doing coaching for as long as I possibly can as long as that capacity is there. So, again if it’s been on your heart. Let do the thing. Alright, let’s listen in to this live coaching session with Allison.
4:09
So I’m excited to get to know you and help you get some clarity. So, talk a little bit about what is your goal for today, Allison, what do we have to accomplish and I glanced over all your notes, but I just want to hear in your own words.
4:22
I have an established business called Better Belly Therapies, right, and we practice Functional medicine, Craniosacral Therapy or Visceral Manipulation.
4:30
We work with both virtual and in-person clients to help them heal their gut, because a lot of clients who come to us they have done the diet, they’ve had a colonoscopy and endoscopy and all these, they’ve gone to a gastroenterologist and they been kind of told by their doctors like if you don’t know what’s wrong.
4:49
Or your labs look fine or we don’t know what else to do and you still have a whole cluster of symptoms. So when they work with us, we get them results, we do lab tests with functional medicine, we’re looking at the root of the problem and not just giving them a band-aid, well here’s a laxative so you can poop, you know, it’s actually very important in my business.
5:09
And I really wanted to create a podcast, I’ve been thinking about it for a while. I really felt push, I’d say, ultimately, when I was journaling and I was talking with the Lord and He’s like, You need to start a podcast, He told me enough times, and He’s like you’re just obeying if you don’t do this.
5:26
And there’s good business reason to it as well and really, my hope and my goal for the podcast is that people can get that foot in the door introductory steps of what else can I do other than diet.
5:30
Because when I tell people I’m like gut health specialists, which I don’t know if it’s the best term but it’s what I’ve been using right now, they’re like, so you’re a nutritionist or, so you work with diet. I’m like, food sensitivities, from all the work from where I come at it they’re a result of gut health problems, not a cause, they can keep all these problems going, but when you’re having increasing food sensitivities it’s because your gut is breaking down.
6:02
So it’s a result, people just don’t have education and the podcast is a great free introductory way, and I also want to really highlight other practitioners because the other thing that happens is people who meet me, especially my local, in person clients think I’m the only person who does what I do.
6:19
So I’m constantly on my Instagram and everything, always sharing here’s how you find these other practitioners and I really want to highlight some of my friends and even instructors who are doing quality work in different groups of health, and so that is the podcast. I want to be able to have a tagline a way to introduce the podcast.
6:40
I heard you do a phenomenal talk with someone. I honestly don’t remember her name, I was on a run, I just press play on whatever was going on and you kind of talked her through her verbiage to you. She’s like, we’re not gonna use coach. She was something about like a flexibility coach or flexible organization coach.
6:59
Function coach? Like functional productivity or something like that
7:03
Flexible productivity. Anyways and I was listening to it I was thinking, I really want words that stick out to my client that I can say quickly. So it doesn’t take as long to see what I just said to you.
7:15
Right, exactly, and make it layman’s terms because this sounds so epic to me. But when I’m reading your notes, Allison, if I don’t know what functional medicine and craniosacral therapy or visceral manipulation are, I’m like, Whoa.
7:32
So while in your community, you guys all know what those things are and that’s amazing but to bring in a funnel, we’ve got to trigger these people by their symptoms, how they’re feeling, and then explain it maybe in a different way, and then you get them in there with all these cool things that we introduce as the solution. So, I love it.
7:51
So tagline, the verbiage to clearly market the new show, what else do we need to accomplish today.
7:58
I put on here discussing possible ways to monetize the podcast, that is, I know there’s a lot of ways, I mean podcast you talked about, especially with it being a funnel so people will do sponsorships, I’m not really interested in that. I know affiliates is something that naturally happens.
8:12
I do have an e-book and a physical book people can buy, but I am interested, if there’s anything you have for you as you’re listening to it that I haven’t either thought of, but if you’re like anything and then the last thing actually number three has to do with number two, determining strategy for podcast episode content.
8:28
Because as much as I want to bring in other guest experts, partly just to get people’s brains going of what they can do, and I do plan on having solo episodes, plenty of those so that I can really talk about the things that I love talking about and give people practical things, I’m trying to figure out like how can I do all of this so that it both benefits my business and bring me in clients who are trying to find someone like me as well as Is there any other way I can make money on a practical level.
8:56
Perfect. Let’s start with this. So we’ve got right in here some of the things that are happening, right, we have that restriction in the brain. Okay, then you’ve got trauma stress or illness. These are your techniques that you’re explaining, then what do we get? Energy, decreased brain fog, better skin, your body’s aches and pains, good.
9:16
I yhink what we’re really missing is, does this person know that they need better health, are they already there? That’s my first question.
9:27
Okay.
9:28
Does your avatar already know they’re here like, I know that I need better gut health, something’s happening. And I’m looking into gut health like, did they know that they need you? That’s my first question because maybe they don’t even know. And the second thing that we need to do is we need to tell them what solutions Better Belly Therapies provides. So let’s start with those things, and just start brain dumping. I think it would help us maybe to, if we first look at the avatar.
9:59
Sure, my avatar does know that they have gut problems, they’ve been with it, they’ve done the whole shebang. Occasionally I attract someone who’s like, Oh, I’ve always had skin problems I didn’t know my gut’s related to it but they’re not buying from me, they’re just like oh, that’s interesting.
10:13
And so my avatar is extremely motivated by their gut and symptoms that are highly correlated to their guts, and they’re usually pretty educated as well, in how the guts impacted their mental health and everything.
10:28
What are they facing, what are the symptoms and pain points that they are dealing with when they find you?
10:35
They just don’t know where else to go. They’re usually on a really restricted diet, that’s what’s been given to them. They can’t poop, is a very common problem, constipation more than diarrhea, though plenty of people will get like a mixture of both there or lethargic, so they feel chronic fatigue, and they’re tired of feeling just weak and bloated and round, and being in pain, and not being able to participate in social events, and just being restricted everywhere.
11:06
So they have like this concept, this idea that something is going on in the gut area. They’re doing all this research, and they maybe come across your podcast right like let’s say that they’re Googling in here, so this is where this gets really important, gut health. And they’re looking up these key phrases. We want to make sure that your podcast tagline has these keywords in it. And the same goes for your website, Allison.
11:36
Check this out. And what I’m saying this to you is because we want to identify these words, because your name is going to be Better Belly Podcast. What’s important for us is to have keywords, right in the title. So see how mine is the Mompreneur Mastermind Show – clarity, coaching, podcasting, passive income for Christian entrepreneurs.
11:58
So yours is going to be something like that Better Belly. Am I saying that right? Better Belly Podcast, right?
12:05
And those will be taken out if that matters to you.
12:08
Okay, Better Belly podcast – gut help, because if they even just search for gut, we have to have gut right there in our title. Okay, that’s gonna make it really searchable for you.
12:21
Let’s go back there again and so I just want to show you what I mean by keywords, where they’re going to go and why they matter so much. So gut, what other words are they using? Because we want to show up, you want to be, you know, my goal for you would be to be in the top 10.
12:38
All right, the tags that I use the most often for example in Instagram, brain-gut access or like brain-gut connection is really big in that community because they’re trying to figure out stuff they also will use a lot of IBS, is just a very common diagnosis or suspicion people have so they’ll IBS in general just snagged a huge group of people.
13:03
Bloating relief is big on that thing that people will I don’t know if they’ll search that as a podcast, but usually, gut health is like the biggest thing that I’ve seen for podcasts.
13:13
What about microbiome? I just sorted by the most popular episodes, and their very best episode says the word microbiome, maybe. The next one says gut health, which we’ve already said we want to use that one. Look at butts and gut to see what their other keywords are. Digestive health, that might be a good one.
13:33
Microbiome again, we’ve just identified this word that’s like number one downloaded FODMAP so you definitely want your top five episodes should be talking about this FODMAP thing. We have IBS, so I think we’ve almost got all of our keywords, maybe digestive health, and microbiome, are those important to what you teach?
13:56
Yes, we’re going to talk about both.
13:58
Okay, so now we have, look at this, we have all our keywords that go with your title that now, you’re extra searchable. Like, if we didn’t even have a tagline, your podcast will still get found. So that’s good. So these are going to be your keywords, after the title. Okay and now the next thing is let’s do come up with a tagline that we can put on the channel art, and on your website.
14:20
And right now we have better belly, better body. I really feel like I want to see something like gut transformation strategies for something like gut health transformation strategies, and you tell me where do you like, where do you don’t like.
14:38
Transform your gut for a better brain, body and life, gut transformation for happier, healthy brains, bodies, and energy, life, something. Tell me what you’re liking or not liking and we’ll keep brainstorming that.
14:54
Healings in my mind it’s overused. A healing also feels mystical sometimes. Some people love that word that I would just say sometimes it’s like well, not like waving a magic wand. So, transformation, definitely I think people associate it both as this high ideal transformation, but also I think they associate also with them being a part of it so whether that’s I’m transforming my body via exercise or via participating in these gut transformation strategies.
15:23
Strategy sounds nice because it’s that practical, it’s vague enough to say like, we have a lot of things we do, we know we look at pathogens, we do lab work, all this stuff, but then it’s also palpable enough that we can say it’s strategy, it’s unique to you. Right, I really like including the better brain, better belly, better body, maybe it’s just because it’s the brainchild of mine. All the Bs.
15:52
The fact is they’re all connected, truly, and so I think it highlights to anyone who doesn’t know I’m hoping they make them more aware and to those who do know it quickly says, I know that you know that these things will help. I don’t know if any one of those orders, anything shorter, one thing you said was transformed your gut for better brain, body, and life.
16:15
I really like the Bs, I’m having trouble with the third thing, it needs to be another B like for a better brain, body and something.
16:25
The only other thing that I have, you know, we have the belly, body, and brain and the liver tarpon a lot, yeah. The third is belly, you know, when you say gut and then belly I don’t know if that’s like saying something too much.
16:38
You know what, no, what we did right here there’s no more question. Okay, this is gut transformation strategy, for what? For a better belly, brain, and body, and then how that’s where we’re going to get even more clear in the description, and we’re going to say all of the cool things that you set up here to me, right, like, I’ll give you a description, a little bit and you can help me with all the cool words but tagline is like it’s right on the art, so that there is no question ‘what is this?’
17:09
In two seconds or less, Allison, they’re going here, they’re like oh let me look at all these cool gut podcasts like we have two seconds. I want them to see yours, and to see the name of the show really big and vibrant but then I want them to see right obvious big across the bottom, our tagline, you know, gut transformation strategies for a better belly, brain, and body, like, Okay, this is what this is and what the outcome is all in one sentence. Which I really like, is there anything you don’t like about this sentence?
17:41
No.
17:42
Me neither. I really love it. So we’ve got a brand new tagline that you can just pop up here. I also think one other thing that would be helpful on your website is once we do your description for your podcast.
17:59
Plug that description above these pictures that it’s more triggering for somebody like, Welcome to better belly therapies, where we truly believe that life transformation, brain transformation, brain health, more energy, experience, increased energy, better skin, fewer aches and pains, all begins with gut health. Unbelievable, right, question mark. Let me begin to explain, have you been dealing with, and we’ve got all these things we list all these triggers that they’re facing.
18:31
Have you been dealing with trouble pooping, be like yes, poop matters like we can make fun of it, like skin issues, fogginess, and then difficulty focusing, you’re mentioning all these things that are triggering them like yeah. And then it’s like, Have you ever considered that maybe it’s your gut, and then they’re going, Oh, maybe.
18:54
And then we’re going even deeper, and there is not a simple band-aid, sorry to tell you this you know debunk all the lies, but we can’t just have a one diet fits all here. There’s a complete strategy to transform your gut health, which leads to a better brain, better belly, better body, but don’t worry, you’re in the right place. Let’s dig in.
19:13
So it’s got like right here at the top of this website, all of those that like a little paragraph that’s doing all of that to draw them in, from a marketing perspective because I come here, and I just don’t know. Is this for me?
19:27
I’ve been critiqued on that recently and it’s just not been a priority, obviously seemed like this big project, even though it’s a small amount of space, it can still be a big project.
19:38
But I give you an outline and so you could transcribe this episode if you need to. Temicom, they do a full transcription, it’s like 25 cents a minute, if you were like What is Stefanie saying and I don’t want to re-listen, but as an outline and then you can make it yours because you know that better than me but if I was from a marketing perspective to come here, that’s what I would need to see it to go tell me more.
20:01
Sure. I do have a question. I like everything you said. And but one thing that I felt like the train went ahhh… for the clients that I know I’m dealing with is like okay so you say have you been dealing with all this stuff and then like ideal clients are yeah. And then the next thing is when you say, Have you considered it’s your gut that actually is talking down to my ideal client because they already know, like, yes.
20:24
So I’m wondering if there’s a better I’m sitting here being like what question could I ask, because what probably a better thing might be like, Are you tired of diets that don’t work? Or diets that don’t yield the results you want? or whatever.
20:37
Yeah, then maybe it’s like, you know, it’s all tied to the gut. But then why aren’t you getting any results? Why isn’t the diet working? What’s up?
20:46
Usually, it’s stress management, I know that really gets people, which probiotic can fix my body?
20:54
And you can be, right, like you can make jokes, you’d be like, You know all about gut health so you think, you’re checking out your poop on the daily, you are popping the probiotics, you’re on the diet yet, we still are not seeing gut transformation, why?
21:09
And then it goes into maybe some, like your favorite podcast episodes or like better brain better, because they can probably learn more about all this process, the deeper they get on your website, but those are the type of triggering questions if they know about gut health that they’re frustrated by.
21:27
I feel like that’s good, that creates the second step, it’s like Have you been dealing with all these things? They’re like, yes. And then it’s like, you know all about gut health, and then it tells them more about who they are, so it’s like their second level deeper like you already do all these things, and then why isn’t it working?
21:44
So now what? That’s where you come in, and you can even have right above these Hey, I’m Allison, I believe there’s a process to this, and it’s so much bigger than diet. Come listen to my podcast and learn all the things, or work with me.
22:00
I love that, that feels much better.
22:03
Thanks for bringing that up to too. So if we’re looking back at that, that same thing is going to become our description right here. So the description is this guide and see Suzy Orman is really missing out because she doesn’t have any SEO terms in her title, all of which would be searchable and her description is super short, this entire description from the provider, all searchable.
22:28
So, for us to just basically paraphrase what we just came up with on that website, Hey friend, you know, the whole thing we just said, all those questions the whole thing is right here in the description, we’ve used so many keywords, we said, you know, pop in your probiotics, you’ve tried the blank diet the FODMAP diet, nothing seems to be working.
22:48
I probably said that wrong and so we’re saying these keywords, but they’re in the description so anything someone might search microbiome, digestive health, your podcast comes up. And this can, the longer the better here for this description so…
23:06
I was about to wonder seems like literally everything we just said that’s on the website can be in that too, very long.
23:12
Yeah, super long, you go for your for it.
23:17
There’s many times when I’d be like, well too much. Here, I’m like, I want you guys to have it every frickin keyword, and also you can pop in how. So now we go even deeper where you said here, by finding the root cause of your gut health problems and empowering you to heal it permanently through functional medicine, craniosacral therapy and visceral manipulation, what does that mean? Don’t worry, I’m going to walk you through that entire process here on the show.
23:47
I’m going to break it down step by step so that you can begin to implement all of this amazing healing, and really be freed from food restrictions, boost your energy and feel better than ever before. So you set all that here yourself so I want that in that description too because this is the next thing, you know on the website.
24:06
We’ve got drawn in, and then we’re like how? How, Allison? This is part of the how. And then you’re making them feel at ease by saying, don’t worry. The podcast is gonna walk you through everything, or you can just work with me and I’ll help you, I’ll hold your hand through the process. Because there’s two things we offer right we offer free, which brings trust, brings belief that we know what we’re talking about, it brings results for people.
24:36
So free is always the first thing people are going to do, always unless they already know of you, and they like Uh, I heard from someone else that Allison’s amazing, they’re going to do free. But through our free, which is the podcast we funnel people into pay, they go from trust tier one, free. I need belief.
24:54
Oh I have belief, I’m ready to pay, and once they go from there to pay, what are their options? Well buy the book, work with me, or probably take my course which we’ll talk about in a little bit. Okay, so we’ve got title, tagline, and description, we know our avatar really well. Let’s talk about number three first, which is the strategy for your podcast content.
25:17
Sure. Do you feel any of the questions on …
25:19
Do you feel good about the description and all that?
25:21
There’s this one lingering thought that I don’t know if it fits into anything, we just, I don’t know how it fits in but it’s how to open up my podcast because another’s like Hey, welcome to Better Belly Podcast, and then like trying to say a bunch of stuff. I feel like that might be out of the scope of what we can accomplish today, but my brain’s ticking on that and I’m wondering how much of what we just said, what I just recycle into that.
25:43
Yes. So, I’ll give you one, and you’re going to recycle it, but all the things we just said it’s too much, too big. Because it’s like a whole intro to a wedding. It’s a big description, it’s so juicy.
25:47
We don’t want to lose people in the intro so the intro, what that is is Okay, I love this girl’s podcast art, I love that description that’s triggering me big time, I’m dealing with all of this, I’m so interested in what she’s telling me because everything she just said I tried, and it’s still not working so they’re like, Tell me more so they turn on your episode, and now they’re waiting to be hooked, people are always waiting to be hooked.
26:18
So in your episode I think would be really great to say something like, Hey friends, welcome to Better Belly Podcast where we find true freedom from food restrictions, we tap into more energy in our lives, and we really begin to feel healthy and vibrant, by finding the root cause of our gut health problems, and we don’t just do this through diet and food, and pop on a probiotic, we’re checking out our poop. We do it by going…
26:54
I really feel like you have to joke about that, it’s so good.
26:58
But the funny thing is is you don’t know this but one thing I love about you and your skillset, Stefanie’s you don’t even know, like, you just, you’re able to absorb and embody it without having been in it, it’s so weird to hear someone else say it and be like yes, someone needs to be talking about this, I’m like, Oh wait I am.
27:15
Yes, that’s me.
27:16
That’s why I’m laughing. You should keep going.
27:21
Yeah, so we’re gonna go beyond popular probiotics and check-in our poop. We are going to go deep into gut transformation strategies, if you’re ready to feel your freaking best stay with me.
27:33
I can’t get that later, I like pretty much all of it, there might be a few things I’d change as far as I actually talked but I love how everything you talk, it’s very fun, so awesome. I liked a lot of that. And of course, you use a lot of my language.
27:47
And also, like the reason to bring that lightheartedness into the intro is because a lot of what you’re going to be teaching will be like, I’m teaching. This is an educational podcast. So anytime I’m teaching educational stuff, how can I infuse my stuff is on, how can I like make people smile or laugh or bring light to something that’s an educational topic.
28:08
So having that an intro, that’s going to really break the ice for people that are new, knowing she’s going to be fun, like this is going to be fun and funny and light, and just infusing that into something that’s probably a dry topic sometimes.
28:22
Okay,
28:23
So anything else you can think of That’s funny, they’re quoted. Okay, next is your podcast content. So I really feel like when I find a new show, is there a way we can take them on a journey? Right. Allison? Somebody just discovered your podcast, and you’re on Episode 100, and you’re all kinds of advanced at this point. If you guys are talking about craniosacral therapy, and this is an advanced concept.
28:57
But what if you were like friends if you’re new here, please head back to episode one, where we just discuss the basics of understanding gut transformation strategy, what does it even mean, what works, what doesn’t work. What does mainstream media telling you to do that I don’t believe in, which diet am I debunking.
29:18
Can we take them through the easy elementary stuff in the first 10 episodes? That way you can always direct people backwards, and that way you’re not having to jump back and forth, it’s almost like they’re on evolution of education with you every time you do any show, does that make sense?
29:36
So, what do I want to see on those first episodes? I want to see like, is it really my gut? Maybe something that is literally as obvious as that. What does gut transformation strategy mean? Why is my whatever diet not working like we were saying, you have all these great ideas for and say that diet name, because we know that’s highly searchable.
29:56
Yeah,
29:56
And of course the very first episode, yes we want to meet Allison, who are you, why are you doing this, all your background. If you have a personal story with this, share it here so that they trust you. Or a client story or something like, why you’re so passionate about this so that’s episode one. And then we get into like, What is gut health, I think you really do have to have those foundational episodes because people will also find you that don’t know.
30:25
Yes, so we’ve got our Allison, we’ve got what is gut health. I mean, what else, Why your anti-inflammatory diet isn’t working, all that. All that is like I’m being solo, for now, but then what I like to do is when I find someone I know will add value to my market, I invite them on, and I used to have a structure for that, Allison like, oh one every five, but now it’s just like when I feel like it, when they’re really going to add value, so I don’t have a structure to what gets common when.
31:02
And I really love that because there’s no rules in podcasting and you should be able to just be inspired to talk about what you want to talk about. And having guests is a lot more work, double the work. So while guests are great, I would definitely start with fewer guests than solo, like one to every four or something.
31:20
Why do you find that they’re more work, I mean I know we have to get links we have to do like we want to support them and stuff, I mean, right now with my guests, I have really similar questions I want to be asking to them because one of my goals with guests, is to say things like, what do you do, who do you do for, what’s one thing you want everyone to know about the gut, what’s some of your favorite research?
31:42
So that I can ask all these people who’s the nutritionist and the naturopath and all these different and like a PhD, all these different modalities and mindsets on gut health. You know, so it feels pretty straightforward to me I don’t know if you have, I’m just curious.
31:58
And some people love interviews, some people are like, I love it. Because you have to scheduling, you’ve got people that you’re going to think they’re going to be brilliant on a podcast, and ain’t so brilliant. You got more editing. So here’s my issue with guests, is that I have to do a ton of editing and I outsource and pay for that. Me, if I do a solo, I don’t even need to edit. It can be like record and go.
32:20
So there’s a little bit more editing, there’s more scheduling, there’s also a question of personality, so be sure you listen to them do something audibly before you’re like Hey, come on my show! because then you’re like, Oh crap, I got to air this and this is really bad.
32:33
Make sure they’re exciting because I know it’s like, yeah, they know a lot, but they’re not exciting to listen to, your audience isn’t gonna like it. So making sure you do the filtering first and then don’t over-commit to guests who you do some and you may be like, Look, I love guests episodes. Yes, do them, but test it first before you’re like I’m gonna have a 50-50 split because you may not love it,
32:55
What’s the 5050 split? Oh you mean 50 solo?
33:01
It’s a big commitment so don’t start there.
33:04
Okay, good to know. I’m so glad I asked that question.
33:10
The other thing you might think about, Allison, is because you’re trying to drive people to hire you, is there any way to do live coaching, live sessions?
33:21
So that’s one thing that I feel like either need to verbally process and or talk to a lawyer about. Okay, so here’s the thing. So, in medicine you have HIPAA and so HIPAA is this traditionally they, like, big thing where you don’t want to air, you don’t want to connect someone’s name and identity with their health stuff so you can say I have a client who has this condition and they had all these symptoms and this is what we did to help them.
33:47
And it’s not a big deal because there’s no name identity, you don’t know, you might not know, things like where they live, what they do, you might be able to say it’s a woman or something. And then the opposite is you can say my friend, Stefanie, is here on the show.
34:01
She’s a client of mine, and you can say some stuff like she went through this stuff but she has a lot more control over what she shares, you’re not going to just like go through her notes, you know, as if you’re treating or so when you have someone come on to be talked to, I might want to say the problem is I might be like, ask them a question, they’ve never wanted to tell the world.
34:23
So I’m gonna say, oh my gosh like have you, what’s your sex life like, you know, like because that sex life but like is it, do you have painful sexual intercourse, that’s a real question that’s really important, that tells me a ton about their pelvic floor and they might not want anyone to know that.
34:41
Yeah, they’re like, actually I delete this… So what about an Ask Allison, instead of coaching, where people can submit a question like anonymously, or there’s even something really cool I’ll show you on SpeakPipe. So on my website, if you can get a free SpeakPipe plugin, put it right on your homepage, it’s free, and people can record a question for you, I’ll show you what that looks like, right here.
35:09
Want to be featured on an Ask Allison show, leave me a voicemail, they click record, and then they can leave you a voice question that you can pull into your episode.
35:20
Oh that’s so because at that point it’s more than just reading. Yeah, which people do do, you can just say Hey, question for… Okay, that’s so interesting.
35:31
Like, Hey, Allison, this is Stef, I had a really quick question, it totally hurts when I have intercourse, does that mean anything for my gut health.
35:39
Sure.
35:40
You’re like, Oh my gosh, I’m so glad you asked this question, and then you can riff off on that for a second. Then you can bring in the next question. And so, those are really fun because they hear you in action, and then at the end, you go by the way, do you need some 1:1? Do you need a complete gut strategy plan? Don’t worry, we offer this virtually or in-person like you can pitch your services during those Ask Allison episodes.
36:09
Okay,
36:10
So, what other questions do you have on the podcast episode content?
36:15
We talked about coaching. So we think this is a better strategy, testimony.
36:22
Okay, so the example I gave before, is you say Hey, I have my friend Chelsea on the call, you know she’s a client of mine, we worked together for three months, she came in with blah blah she’s you know and she would have pre-agreed to be on the show and I have some clients who were like, I want everyone to know that you did this and I’ll do anything and they’re just so overabundantly, would love to just talk and want to tell everyone about how much better they feel so everybody else can feel better.
36:49
So I’m trying to think of if I’ve heard that done a tone if you think that would add a lot of value.
36:55
Absolutely! Oh my gosh, yeah. And if they’re willing to record it in their own voice for you even better, if not you can just read them on the air like, Hey friends, today we’re talking about why your anti-inflammatory diet isn’t working, I’m gonna debunk the diet method today but before we get into that, I wanted to share what Mary had to say about working with me, and then Mary reads her thing. Or you can read it.
37:20
Okay, so you probably wouldn’t have a whole episode talking about some of this journey because there’s a lot to dig into, like, if someone is willing to share more, and it wouldn’t be as big of a problem as far as HIPAA because when you do a coaching call and you don’t know what they’re going to tell you and you don’t they don’t know what you might want to ask them, that’s one thing, but if it’s like happened in the past and they know what they want to filter out.
37:41
There’s a little bit more like I had kids and after that, I had lots of incontinence and all this stuff and then they’re like, And so part of it is to spark interest in the person and like I’m that mom, I haven’t gotten, I’ve been told I won’t get better, like all these different things, and they share about in one session or two sessions or in working with you for, they just share however long it took.
38:05
And what they did, and the results they saw, and how it changed their life and things that they learned along the way that surprised them. And so when you have a call, I was thinking if you had a whole podcast episode, that would give more breadth of time for them to really open up some of the stuff because health is digs into every part of your life.
38:23
I think that’s wonderful. I actually did one of those like I brought students on from my course. And we just talked about, how was the course for you, what did you learn, what did you love, how did it help your business and like the whole 30 minutes on that and it was fantastic, and I should do it more.
38:39
And if that’s what you’re saying, is doing that similar process, plus it’s a learning experience for other people that are thinking of hiring you. What is she actually, what are the results that are happening, I think I love that.
38:50
If I was to say what would this ideal structure be? I think he would do maybe like two solos, or solo which is educational, then an Ask Allison because those are still two solos, then do a testimonial episode, and then you have an expert, and then you got solo, ask Allison, testimony, expert and those testimony ones, maybe not every time, and if not, do another solo but like as a light structure because it also keeps it really interesting, because they’re like Oh, this is fun.
39:20
I’ve got educational, then we’ve got Ask Allison in which those are probably really fun because people ask all kinds of juicy things. Then we’ve got testimony, which boosts your business, it sells your services, and then you’ve got experts, which brings in a little bit of just variety, having somebody else come and here, it always is added value.
39:40
I don’t know if you have any thoughts on this, and then we can go to any thoughts you have on the monetization or if you have any other ideas for me, is titling. I feel like I’m still learning titleing, it’s kind of like an art, it can be fun it, can be frustrating.
39:54
Usually, I think in my mind, for example, an ask Allison or testimonial, an expert, you kind of pluck out the big idea that comes out of, you record, and you might have an idea of what you want the title to be but afterwards you say something that’s catchy, but I don’t know if you have guidelines personally of how you?
40:11
I try to pull out the most controversial I have a whole episode on this actually.
40:17
Oh, nice.
40:18
Yeah, it’s the one on titling, we’ll find the number. There’s an idea here though, it is you got to pull out the most controversial, or the most triggering concept of your conversation. So if you and I are discussing that poop or something, instead of you ‘What digestion says about you’, we need to trigger people to listen and say something like the many facets of your poop.
40:11
And you can make it funny too like, Why you’re afraid to talk about drastically impacts your health, something like that, where it’s like, instead of tiptoeing around what the actual triggering concept of the episode is blatantly slapping them with it. That’s always going to be better.
41:06
So if you’ve got a testimony episode and we can say something like, you’re talking to Mary and Mary’s transformed her health and her energy and she’s not constipated, she’s cured her IBS or something. You could say something like is IBS, ever curable? Listen in and find out.
41:24
Would you even say that a title would be like Cure your IBS or listen to how so and so, I don’t want to sound more salesy or like overcoming because you’re not going to cure your IBS in three steps? But if Mary did it, doing three main things are something…
41:42
I always leave names though to the end because sometimes other people’s names as a deterrent. So, I used to say like live coaching with Allison. That was like my title, and then I’d say, you know, mapping now a brand. Instead, I was to use this episode, I would say something like Revamping a brand from the inside out, because we’re talking about gut health, right, and then with Allison Jordan.
42:10
So you could say something like Curing irritable bowel syndrome – Is it possible? A conversation with Mary or Mary’s journey, at the end of the title, and really asking questions is always going to be a win. So if you have something triggering, like, Can you cure irritable bowel syndrome? Make it a question, instead of how to cure irritable bowel syndrome.
42:32
It’s a different feeling, it pulls them in, they want to say yes or no. Also using keywords so we know some of our keywords that are really important are here, how can we plug those into titles so we can talk about, we know, irritable bowel syndrome but we know IBS is the search term. So we would say, Is it possible to cure irritable bowel syndrome, (IBS)? in parentheses, something like that.
42:58
Does the gut, really have an impact on my brain? or Had a blast brain fog in three steps. Things like that.
43:09
This might seem like a dumb question to you, but if you were just starting, would you focus on just putting it on one platform, or do you have a top three, I want to be on Apple but…
43:19
All of them. And we already talked about Podcast Pro U? Are you in there?
43:26
I’m not. That was what I meant when I said I’m not going to go and do a course, now that I’m not willing to do it but I would rather have this and only then do a course.
43:35
The only reason I ask cause there’s a module in there that has a list of all of them, but you can just Google it, just Google, where to publish my podcast, and there’s like10. They’ll have a whole list, it’s Spotify Google Play, Apple, TuneIn, Alexa. And so they’ll list them, just do a Google search result, and then you’re basically just gonna go take your RSS, gonna copy your RSS feed from your Host. I use Podbeen is my host for my podcast platform.
44:08
And in there, click feed, and they give you the feed, you copy that feed and you’re really just going to paste it, in each of those places Spotify will say publish your podcast, yes, put your feed.
44:21
So you don’t have to re-write or …
44:24
Nothing, they’ll just pull it every time you do a new episode. you don’t have to go there again. It’s really easy. As far as monetization, you have two ways you can just monetize immediately, you have the books.
44:38
One, it’s just available in two forms.
44:41
So you would just be like, my Better Belly Theory. Meet Allison and why I’m standing up for your gut health. Meet Allison and the truth about gut health, something like that. So you’ve got that one and you’re going in there and you’re like, do the little intro, you got the little thing, a little jingle and you’re like Hey, by the way, if you guys love this podcast and you learn a lot here, I want to let you know two things.
45:05
Number one, I have a book, it’s going to help you get through all of this, it’s going to give you all my strategies at a deep comprehensive level. Number two, you need help, you need accountability, you need me to walk through this with you. Let’s grab a coffee chat and we’ll walk through how I can support you virtually or in-person on your gut health journey. Go to betterbelly.com/whatever, this is virtual health coaching.
45:28
So you’re monetizing from day one with two things, book, and coaching. Now, the third thing that you could absolutely add would be a course, an e-course. Now, what would that e-course be? I think you have to ask yourself again this gets weird because each person really can be different. Is there anything we can teach that is a canned response for everyone?
45:54
And it could be something mini like Is there a diet plan? here’s what works for everyone and maybe not, maybe, so I don’t know if of course would work for you but if there’s something you can pull out of your process that you’re saying the same way, to every client. Think about how you can package that as a passive product instead of having that same conversation every time.
46:17
I love courses How to launch a podcast? I can solve that problem, I can’t solve this problem, where we map it out. So that’s always going to be one on one with people, but the tech of this, the implementation, take a course. So for you, maybe it’s that initial consultation with people, Allison, in the discovery work, blood work, but then is there a way for them to implement without you, with a course? I don’t know.
46:45
Yes, and that’s one of the things I’m learning right now is just getting enough repetition with how I work with people, to say what am I really doing the most and just regurgitating and what could I do in my sleep, so frequently, and then make that reproducible and scalable, and then, of course, the lab testing and the interpretations, the most unique thing that nobody could ever replace.
47:11
And how is this going? Do you have a profitable business with these plans right now?
47:19
Yes. So I get about two to three new clients a month and that’s about the most I can handle. Yeah, it takes so much to get their paperwork and do the evaluations and plus handle everybody else that I’m working with and do the online stuff so I’m at a good rate right now.
47:36
I might have to actually, as demand increases, I’ll be working on simplifying my business so that I can work with people faster and get them through. So the course will become important very soon.
47:48
I love this and this is so cool. I mean, working with you as a premium as it should be. But, you know, what’s super cool? If there’s a way to package some of this up in your course, it would be an easier way for people to get some of this value at a cheaper price.
48:01
And then what’s going to happen, they’re going to hire you anyway because they’re going to go through the course and go, Oh this is so good I have a starter plan but now I need a customized plan, and they’re going to end up being filtered, it’s almost like a gateway into one of these awesome sessions with you.
48:17
So just brainstorm on the course piece, I mean obviously, you have ways to monetize right away so it’s not urgent, but even maybe, just the concept of these things here like module one the placebo and nocebo effect, and you’ve got a module. Number two mindset positivity, number three – the brain connection so there’s no one-on-one, there’s no implementing with people but you’re teaching them the concept of this framework in a course that’s 500 or $1,000 or something.
48:50
I look forward to what I’m able to do and I like how jazz you seem about it. And I’m really enjoying working with clients right now. And then there’s certain things that are starting to pop out like even if, say they get one on one coaching with me, I say you automatically have access to X amount in my library because I’m not even going to say it to you. Your homework is to go watch this thing and implement it.
49:16
And then from there, as the library builds I probably create a course where maybe that’s the only way some works with me. So that’s on my mind for sure.
49:16
Y’all how cute is Allison? And so smart. She is goals. I hope you guys loved this live coaching, obviously if you’re into gut health and all of the incredible things that Allison mentioned during this episode be sure to check out her podcast, the Better Belly Podcast for Gut Health Transformation, for a Better Belly, Brain and Body wherever you listen to podcasts.
49:55
And reminder if you need a session like this, you need the clarity, you need the strategy, you need me to go through with you, line by line come up with the podcast tiers, map those things out and or create a course or monetization strategy with you, whatever the things are in those areas and the passive revenue or coaching realms of your business or want to get all of those things going, or that I’m your girl.
50:24
