(00:57):
You’ve been here. You’ve been with me and if you’re a Lola and you haven’t left me a review girl, I’m coming for you. Just getting head over to Apple podcasts, leave me a written review. That is the number one way, seriously that you can thank me for this podcast. It helps me get ranked. It helps me get interviews with other shows and it just really makes me smile and lights me up to hear from you guys.
(01:23):
So you can do that over on Apple podcasts, search for Stefanie Gass, scroll down and leave a written review. I’m so grateful for you. I’m so thankful every single day. I pray for you guys often and just sending you a big virtual hug, a little cutie. All right, let’s do this.
(02:57):
A couple of things that have popped up. All right, we’ve got tick-tock was new a while ago and I had a lot of people were like, Oh my gosh, you got to get over there. You got to do the tick talk stuff. And I’ll tell you the truth. You know, I had a client who hopped over their first movers advantage.
(03:16):
She showed up on Tik TOK in a really major way, and she blew it up, you know, millions and millions of views, a ton of new followers that she then brought over to Instagram, which is her second platform that she, she does and shows up on. And it was great for her. Oh my gosh, it really did explode her business. And then I had other clients who were over there, spinning their wheels for hours, trying to make a video. And it did nothing for them.
(03:43):
It didn’t convert. And all it did was dilute the brand and pull attention away from what they were trying to do, whether that be Mo most of my clients, as you guys know most of you podcasts, but some of them are you tubers as well or bloggers. So there was that. Then more recently we’ve had reels come on the scene with IG and it’s super fun and cute to watch some of my peeps in my circle, do their little reels and it makes me laugh and they’re fun.
(04:12):
And they definitely get shown first in the recommended space, which is really good. I have a couple peeps that I know who have had a V a video go kind of viral, you know, 18,000, 50,000 views, which is great. And I think that it brought traffic to their IG. I know that it did. Did it connect vert?
(04:33):
Not really. Not really. So there’s that. And then also you have to consider the time that it took them to do that. So that’s a consideration and we’re going to go through pros and cons in a minute. And then what I really think at the end. So stay tuned girl now. And what I may think may not be what you think I may think. Okay.
(04:55):
So stay with me now. The latest and greatest is clubhouse. Okay. Now I, I kept hearing about it. A couple of clients were like stuff you’ve got to get on there. It’s crazy. Like I go in this room and I teach for 30 minutes and all of these people come in and they resonate with me and then it’s, I’m getting clients or I’m getting attraction or people are wanting to work with me. So I’m like, okay, okay.
(05:22):
Okay. And you know, I, you guys know I’m like super averse to anything that is not my main thing, which is this podcast. Like, if you’re trying to tell me to do some new, I’m going to definitely say no to you, and then I’m going to just pray over it, sit on it. And then if I hear confirmation from multiple people, or if the Lord tells me, so I’ll go check it out. And I said, check it out, not do it.
(05:49):
So I heard another client come through and I’m like, okay, okay. I’ll go look. So at the invite for clubhouse one over there set up an account and I pop it into a couple of rooms. And to me, my perception was it was a bunch of like, no offense. You guys please. Oh, man. It felt like a really dry, like businessy, like teaching, you know, it was like social media
(06:20):
SEO. So guys, today, we’re going to talk about SEO for your website. We’re going to talk about what search term you want to use in your website.
(06:30):
And then people be like excuse me, Bob. So I have a question about that SEO term. And I’m like, Oh my gosh. So then I popped out of that room popped into a different room and there was this girl just going off on some weirdness. Wow. And I’m like, what is happening? So my first perception was like, this is not a place I would hang out very often, but let me think about it.
(06:55):
So I thought about it and decided that if I was to show up in there and do a 30 minute training on, like, let’s say, let’s start a podcast. That’d be fine. Here’s what I didn’t like about it. Number one, how to start a podcast is not who I am. It’s a solution for the women that I serve. And I can’t really get my women to know me in a 30 minute tactical training.
(07:24):
And I was afraid I’m going to attract the wrong audience. Right? If I just throw up, when I start a podcast, any old Joe Schmo, Nellie Welly, you know, Marish Mary is going to come listen, but they may not be my ideal avatar. And I am not called to serve everyone. I’m not called to help everyone start a podcast. I am only called to help Lola, she’s gotta be a Lola or she’s not going to be the right fit for me.
(07:46):
She’s not going to want to work with me through the entire product funnel. Right. Which is clarify your calling, starting the show with me coming through podcast pro with me, or podcast to profit with me and then working with me potentially one-on-one. And like, it’s a really specific type of person that God has me stewarding right now and working with.
(08:04):
So I felt like I wasn’t going to be converting the right audience. Here’s the other major con that I saw with taking 30 minutes of my time on clubhouse, you can repurpose it. And I know there’s some, you know, gray lines and some wiggle room, but from what I’ve seen, and what I have heard from those who are using it is that you can’t record a direct recording of what happens on clubhouse because you’re kind of taking other people’s questions and that could be recorded.
(08:34):
That could be like an infringement of their rights, blah, blah, blah. You can’t really repurpose. And I’m like, if I’m going to spend 30 minutes of my time and time to me is more valuable than money. It’s going to be on my podcast period done. End of story. Like I’m, I’m super not here for that.
(08:56):
And so that in and of itself was enough for me to ju to decide not to partake now, will I ever try it? Maybe? I don’t know. It doesn’t really light me up right now to also have to schedule something where I’m showing up, showing up somewhere. That’s diluting my brand. It’s 30 minutes. I could be spending here with you guys on the show.
(09:19):
And instead I’m spending it on a new app, trying to convert new people with a tactical solution, which is not how I lead. I do not lead with a buy this. I’m going to teach you to do blank, which is a tactical I lead with. I’m going to serve you. Transform you where you are. Be more than a solution. I’m going to be a friend, a mentor, like we’re going to have a longterm relationship.
(09:45):
You and me like, you know, we’re not just like casually dating. We’re like getting married. Okay. So just, just huge spoiler alert. Like you’re in it with me. Like you ain’t going anywhere. Booboo. However, on these, on these first mover advantage platforms that have been coming out, I feel like they’re all like, you know what’s that dating app?
(10:11):
What’s that one dating app? Or you’re like swipe Tinder. I don’t even know if that’s cool. I don’t even know, but like, they’re like, Tinder’s cause they’re like, Hey, super hot. This is a super hot topic. Come check me out, hop in the room with me, girl, learn. And then like that person hops out of the room and they’re like done son, like, this is sorry.
(10:31):
Oh, what an analogy? How fun. But my point is like, if I show up on Tik TOK and I do this video, it’s kind of a flash in the pan. Somebody’s going to laugh at it. It’s cute. But like, does it really add value? Probably not. Or I’m going to show up over here and do a real again. Cute. Does it really add value? Not so much. And unless I’m going to make real is my thing. It’s not really helping me grow.
(11:00):
The one thing I’ve committed to. Okay. I’m going to show up on clubhouse. Okay. Fine. People are going to pop in learn, but they’re not going to be my, my exact demographic. They’re not going to be my exact Lola. And again, unless clubhouse is going to be my thing that I am going to become an expert in and I’m going to show up there every single week, then that’s diluting my brand.
(11:25):
So here’s what I’m getting at. Here’s what I’m getting at first mover advantage platforms. A good point play. Sure. Yes. If it’s going to be your thing. Yeah. To my beautiful friend, my sweet sister, Lola, you have to pick, you have to pick, you can’t do all 50 opportunities. You can’t five socials and be successful, making an actual impact at actually taking your vision for your purpose and converting it into a business.
(12:06):
You have to stay tried and true to one thing long enough for God to work through you. Okay? You got to show up for something long enough with super dedicated intentional action with a service led heart, with helping and teaching and serving and giving all that you have in one place so that it can get enough traction to explode for you. So if you’re choosing your one thing, now, I, you can have two.
(12:37):
Okay. Two, did you hear me? I said to you, Oh, you can have too, but I really want you to just have one. So my one is my podcast Godspell to me and you better bet your bottom dollar. I am not getting distracted from something that God placed inside my heart. And we are going, Oh, we are two years. Plus I’m not looking down. I’m not looking down. Like I’ve got goals. I have women. I need to impact.
(13:04):
And I know that me showing up behind this mic when I can pause this episode because my son had to poop. No lies is where it’s at. I know that me being comfortable in my PJ’s right now, just using my heart and voice with my yummy spicy cinnamon tea is light. If I’m so here for this, me to many, instead of me to one, it’s not an idle, I don’t have to click an app to record this episode for you.
(13:29):
Get in and show up and be fancy and have Q & A with people live where I can’t repurpose it. No need to do a video that takes me two hours for 10 minutes. I just show up and talk. And I share my heart. And I partnered with Holy spirit and I serve you and I’m here for it and I’m not going to get it. Nope. So that’s my one place.
(13:53):
Where’s my second place. Hmm. I guess you could say it’s my Facebook group because that’s, that’s where I know my Lola is. That’s where I’m sending her. That’s where I’m pouring into her. Those are both one to many. And then my third thing, I guess it’s a thing is Pinterest, but y’all that’s 15 minutes a week and I don’t even do it. My VA does it now.
(14:14):
That’s it. If I feel led to show up on instant, share something, I do. I just do it for fun. It’s not growing my business under no circumstances. Am I under the lies that Instagram or Facebook or hashtagging is going to grow my business? No chance. There’s no chance. People are only in those apps with a push mindset, an ego mindset, a sales mindset. Everybody’s in that app fighting for real estate.
(14:41):
And plus your real estate only stays up for 24 hours. If you’re lucky, if you’re lucky, if Instagram doesn’t shadow ban you and hide your stuff. If it’s what they don’t want to no offense to my Instagram lovers, but y’all come on now. You don’t own it. You don’t own it. Your thing, okay? Here’s the bottom line. Your thing, your one thing needs to be something that you own done, period, line in the sand.
(15:08):
We IMPLAN, because you’ve seen it. You saw it happen with these, some of these new apps that came up, they didn’t agree with whatever, whatever, whatever, whatever, whoever not to be political, not to be anything, but whoever, whoever in power didn’t agree gone overnight gone overnight. So here’s what I want to say. If you want the new cool, like first movers advantage opportunity. I’m okay with that.
(15:35):
As long as it doesn’t pull away from your one thing and your one thing needs to be something that you own. Okay? So here’s what you can own. My favorite de podcasting. You own the rights to your show. You could at any time, move your podcast to a different platform. Take your podcast completely off and just share it on a website. You own that content. You can repurpose it. You can transcribe it into a book.
(16:02):
You can do. You will get speaking engagements in the future because of your show. I have virtual speaking opportunities all the time. Eventually the show will most likely lead to a book. This show has led to massive success in my courses and my coaching business. It has led to relationships and here’s the most beautiful part because I have been super consistent and I have not looked up and I have not deviated.
(16:29):
And I have not missed an episode in over two years. I’m for you. You know where to find me. You also come with a learning mindset. You’re not coming to post and to share your stuff, you’re here to learn. You’re in a receptive heart, like Stef pour into us, teach us, show us, help us. Don’t you want your person to be of that mindset when they show up for you?
(16:54):
Or do you want them to be in a mindset of distraction? Because if you’re on social, they’re only going to pay attention to you for if you’re lucky, 60 seconds, but here we are. We’re at 16 minutes and 30 seconds and you are still paying attention to me. I hope you here for this, it’s a different mindset when people show up to consume information, versus when they’re showing up for distraction.
(17:21):
And when we go on social, I’m sorry, but my opinion is that we are going there to escape everything else. We are using it to post our own stuff. We are using it. For, so for gratification, we are using it to whatever. None of it is a consumption mindset, 90% of the time, 90% of the time. So I still need you to have your thing and I need you to not get distracted from your thing.
(17:46):
What else can you own? Well, you can own a blog. That would be a great thing that you can own. You can own video that you then share on YouTube. As long as you own, you keep all your videos, not just on YouTube. Right? Got to keep a hard copy of everything you produce. Yes. Everything.
(18:04):
So those are the three things you can really own. There’s really no if ands or buts about it, you know? And so if you want to though supplement with the number two thing, awesome. Do clubhouse BU great. Do Instagram rails. Great. Do tick talk. Sure. Do Facebook posts. Okay. But just pick one and then you’re going to have, in order for it to convert for you, you can’t play with it. You have to go all in.
(18:34):
So you’re going all in on a platform like a clubhouse, do that once a week, like a 15 or 20 minute training, but then stay laser focused on the one thing that’s actually going to be there and withstand the test of time and grow and transform and convert for you forever, which is your podcast.
(18:51):
Okay. Now right now for my sister, friends who were like, Oh, I am only showing up on social. I am only showing up on clubhouse. I’m only showing up on Tik TOK. I really, really, really, really, really seriously from the bottom. Bottom of my heart would encourage you to get super clear on your brand. Okay. Which is clarify, you’re calling chorus.com.
(19:13):
If you are not there yet, but more, most, most, most importantly is to begin to have a platform that is 100% yours, that you go all in on for one full year. And that you commit to that without looking up. Now, if podcasting would be the best fit for you, I E you have kids. You want to do something that’s super easy. You can pause as you go. It’s extraordinarily inexpensive. You can literally record from your phone and upload. Most of my episodes, I don’t even edit.
(19:45):
Yep. I just show up, talk, post it done. Like it’s super easy. Then I would encourage you to do that. Like yesterday, if there was one thing I could have done differently in my business and I don’t regret anything, but one massive missed opportunity was not podcasting from the beginning because it was a way that I could have served from a heart space of authenticity. I kept trying to do video and it just wasn’t me.
(20:14):
I kept trying to do lives and it, I couldn’t like let loose. I couldn’t really be who I was. And I couldn’t really live my life because my kids were home with podcasting. I can pause this, do whatever with my kiddo and come right back. And it’s still here and nothing’s happened. And also it feels really safe. Nobody’s listening to me record this right now. So if I said something and messed up, I can delete it.
(20:39):
But it just like the confidence of knowing that I’m doing something that’s in alignment with me, which is using my voice. It was so freeing and like the success shows. The difference in what I talk about shows the difference in seeing how God’s working through the show. Like just all the things. So if you think podcasting and using your voice would be the best thing that you can own.
(21:05):
Girl, you have got to join me. And over 400 students inside a podcast pro university, this is my course. That’s going to help you start an authentic potty podcast. Wow. Podcasts. That’s good. Know what you’re doing, talking about, have all the content, know how to record, edit scale, your show, monetize your show, how to get sponsors. If you want them, I send you all my tracking files. I send you every single thing.
(21:40):
I show you everything. I do two full tutorial style. You will have every single thing, tactically. And the encouragement that you need to start your own show. You don’t need to worry about what would it be called? What would I talk about? How will I edit? How much will it be? Like we are going to do this the right way. I’m going to be there to equip you.
(21:59):
And you get added into my student community. Why is that so invaluable for you? Because it’s free for now. And number two, the women in there so supportive, they leave reviews for each other. They’re doing interview swaps together. Like literally you are not going to be alone in the launch of your show. You are going to have hundreds and hundreds of other women holding your hand, empowering you. I’ve got you covered. I promise you.
(22:28):
There is no better podcasting course out there for my faith field mompreneurs who want to leave and a lasting impact using your voice and grow an authentic organic audience from a mic. I’m telling you what it is so good. And it is super, super, super affordable. Plus there’s a three month payment plan. So I will meet you where you’re at. If that’s for you and you are feeling the Holy spirit tug, don’t ignore it. Sister, friend, you got to take the leap.
(22:59):
Take action, take messy. The messy, messy action. Even when it doesn’t make sense and know that when you commit to doing something that will do good for others and podcasting is serving in a really big way in a heart space. That takes commitment. But when you do that, it will come full circle. And when we rise together, daughters of the King and we show up for the kingdom work that God has for us, we are pieces of a bigger puzzle.
(23:28):
We are pieces of a bigger ripple that this world desperately needs. And we need your voice. I need you to stand step up into your truth, into your purpose and to just start. That’s what I need from you. So if that’s for you podcast pro university.com three, two, one go father. I pray over these women. Lift them up to you each and every one of them listening in their cars at home, on their phones, at the gym, on the treadmill, wherever they may be.
(23:57):
Father me deep in laundry. I just pray. I pray over them that you would just encourage them, encourage them to let go of the things that do not serve your purpose for them to lay down the idols that are not helping them be mindful, intentional and present in what actually matters in their first ministry, which is their families.
(24:22):
And in partnering with you and spending time with you, God, I pray that you would reveal to them the right path, the right method, the right way to show up for their person. I pray you would equip them with confidence, with belief that they can, and to remind them that through you, anything is possible that you are here to support them, lift them up, encourage them and to walk before them. God, thank you for going before us. You are so good to us. You will never leave us or forsake us. And for that, we are so, so grateful. We trust you. We love you in Jesus’ name. Amen. Loving God’s light!
