Hey friends in today’s podcast episode, and yes, I’m sitting on my patio and there is a bird going haywire. I don’t know if you guys can hear that. Anyway, real quick on the intro. And then we’re cutting to the coaching session, which you totally would not hear birds. Life, life guys.
(00:22)
In today’s episode, I am teaching you and having a conversation about how to be unique and stand out in a saturated niche. Because, how many of you are in a niche where you feel like everybody and their mama is trying to teach something and do something like you’re trying to do? Raise your hand? Yeah, probably all of us, but guess what?
(00:42)
There are some strategies that you can take to dig down deeper and get more defined so that you can stand out no matter how big of a niche that you currently serve. You’re going to love this podcast strategy session with Lauren Francois. I know you’re going to learn and take so much away from it. Grab a notebook and pen. Let’s go.
(01:48)
All right, friends, drum roll, please. It’s not a drum roll, but I have such exciting news. We are a few downloads away from 200,000 downloads right here on this podcast. I can barely believe it, so crazy. Thank you guys for being here with me. I’m so grateful. I’m so excited that we’ve been able to do this thing together and grow and learn.
(02:16)
I pray that this podcast has inspired you, helped you grow, taught you something sister over the past year and a half. Cause I know it has brought me more joy in my life, my business life than I could’ve ever expected. Let’s do this.
(04:19)
Well, I am excited to meet you and to help you today, this is going to be so much fun. I’m very, very excited. Cool. Why don’t you go ahead and tell me what would be like the top things that we want to accomplish today. And I do have your little note in front of me that says title, tagline, and then is there anything else? Yeah, so namely title, tagline based on the mission, and the categories for the podcast.
(04:47)
Then I was kind of wondering kind of the rhyme and reason to an order of episodes. So based on the five categories, if it’s better to do like one from each category or to kind of focus on a specific category for a few episodes and then switch. So kind of getting the layout more of the podcast. Those were the two main things.
(05:13)
Then actually I’m really good friends with Joelle Suess. And I was talking to her today and I was like, oh my gosh, the self doubt is like totally kicking in right now. She was like, oh, you have to talk to Stef about that. And so I’m an Enneagram three. Yes, same. I’m very close to a one as well. So she was like, tell her that and she’ll talk you through it. Very good. Awesome. Okay.
(05:40)
So let’s start with, let’s get the four tier creation done, which is your title, tagline, description, and categories. Let’s do that first. Okay. Because yes, that is super important. And I think that’s going to give you a lot of peace as well, because a lot of the fear and like paralyzing is coming from lack of direction. And when you’re feeling that way as a three, we are so discombobulated.
(06:05)
We’re like, I shouldn’t even do it at all. But when we have marching orders, we’re going to go do the thing. Yep. I think that’s going to help you feel more settled right there. Yeah, definitely. Okay. So talk to me a bit about your podcast. My podcast, the mission is to help new working mamas. So moms who have just had their first child and have gone back into working, not just survive this crazy stage of life, but to thrive during it and to learn how to enjoy it and all the aspects that come with it.
(06:45)
I want to be their best mama friend that they can turn to for advice on the different categories that I want to talk about. And, of course, on adjusting to all the new things that motherhood can bring. Because I know when I first became a mom, I have two little kids now, but I felt like I was really lacking that support of just knowing a lot of other moms who are going through something similar.
(07:14)
I just always kept finding myself saying, why didn’t anybody tell me about this? Why didn’t anybody tell me about this? Why didn’t anybody tell me about this? So sharing all the things that I’ve learned along the way. Okay, awesome. Now, what are the tangibles behind this, behind what are you going to teach her? So maybe would help by starting with your categories that you have in mind. Yeah.
(07:39)
Health, fitness, and nutrition, how to make herself a priority and her health and her fitness and nutrition a priority. I’m actually a part of the same MLM that Joelle is. So I am a health and fitness coach already. I’ve been doing that for five and a half years. So I have lots of good knowledge on that. Mom life productivity, focus and balance was the third one, finding your purpose and your passion is the fourth and then goal setting mindset and habit creation.
(08:12)
Okay. So I’m going to play devil’s advocate with you for a second, because this is so big and broad that you are swimming in an ocean. Okay. So what I want to do is I want to cut out like half of that and I want you to get so niche on like two of those categories. Because as threes, I’m going to toot our horns for a second.
(08:39)
We’re so good at almost anything we try because we’re so business minded and we’re like, well, I can figure this out. Which it’s almost the hardest thing for threes to niche, but it’s so incredibly important because instead of you swimming in an ocean, I want you in pond where you are the biggest fish. Okay. And that’s how you’re going to have more success.
(09:01)
When we look at these different categories, only a couple of them really fuel what you’re telling me your mission is. If you want to help new moms thrive, when they’re going back to work, that’s what it is, right? Yeah. Okay. Then I would say we can scratch figuring out your calling, getting in tune with your passion, because really, if you want to help new moms that are already going back to work, they know what they’re doing. Right. Right. Okay.
(09:29)
Let’s scratch that one. What about productivity? A hundred percent. Yes. That’s staying. I’m not as good as Joelle though. She’s like the productivity queen. She’s so good. For me, when you talk to me about productivity, that includes goal setting habit creation, time blocking. I think we can make that one thing. Okay. So let’s pull all those together.
(09:56)
The next one then that we want to dissect, which is going to be tricky for you, is this health, fitness, Beach Body. That’s what it is, you network marketing company. So this is the question I guess I’m asking you, are you putting that in there because you want to monetize and you feel like you have to plug it in so that you can help monetize your show or do you feel this is an integral piece for that mom?
(10:22)
I feel like it’s an integral piece, and so, I want to monetize it. I guess the mission isn’t necessarily helping her in going back to work. It’s helping her thrive through this transition of motherhood plus work plus trying to take care of herself. And I fully believe that taking care of yourself with health, fitness and nutrition will create a ripple effect in your motherhood and in your work life. Okay.
(10:56)
Let’s dig into that for a second. So if I just had this baby and I’ve got a job, let’s say, and I’m getting ready to go back to a corporate job. Or let’s say I’m in network marketing and I’m trying to figure out how do I run my business? And I have this new kid. What you really want to do is you want to then hold my hand through that process and say, look, there’s a couple of things we can do to help make this transition more seamless for you, which includes still keeping up with self care, right?
(11:26)
Making room in time and space for you, which would include this health, fitness, and mindset. That was where I would maybe pair mindset with this one. Okay. And then the second segment for you as this new mama is how can we time block and be more productive so that you don’t have to struggle with mom guilt or with work guilt.
(11:48)
I want you to know that there is equal time and space in your life for baby and kiddo, and also going after your dream or going back to work and feeling really good about being a working mom. Would that really encompass what you’re trying to do? That would, as well as I really do want to talk about mom life, different aspects of mom life, but is that then too much? Give me some examples.
(12:19)
Having expectations as a parent, sleep training tips, what to feed your kids, what to expect after you have a baby, what nobody tells you, top baby products that I’ve used for different stages, transitioning from no kids to one kid. You know what? I think that that still fits the umbrella because the mom is navigating new motherhood, right?
(12:47)
So while I think a third of that, you knowing you’re talking to a working mom is then that productivity mindset, all of that, there is also a piece of it that’s like, how can you make her life easier as she is transitioning back to work? And I think all of those things are great resources, put her mind at ease to help her navigate.
(13:06)
So here’s the question for you when you’re thinking of all these content ideas, really the question is, does this topic or training help this mom like navigate back into work and, or a space of peace. Okay. And if the answer is no and it’s too off the wall, scratch it. Okay.
(13:26)
Remember that this mom already knows what she’s doing. She already has the thing. Cause it’s easy to go get into like career mentorship. I think you don’t want to go there. No, I don’t want to go there at all. So just be careful not to talk about, cause it’s easy to talk about calling, scratch that piece. I don’t think that’s your niche. Okay. So that helps me.
(13:50)
That helps me feel more defined in the topics. Does that help you? Yes, it does. And I can see the three of them, I guess. Perfect. Yeah. So there’s really self care is what I would call that one. The first one. Yeah. Then this mom life and to me, mom life is solutions to simplify motherhood. Right. Okay. I love that. I’m going to have to write that one down. That was a really good one. Cause we’re going to use that somewhere.
(14:22)
Then the third one is really this whole idea of not balance necessarily, but of like productivity, habits, habit creation. I guess we could even call it balance in a way balancing out, you know. Hey, not just mom, all of a sudden you have a baby. Let’s not get lost in that. We can find space and time for everything. We just have to get gangster at it. Right. We got to get really good at it. Okay, cool.
(14:53)
So now we have our three categories. Let’s name this puppy. Yeah. I feel like I’m so uncreative. I need help with this. You have a brand name yet at all? No, I just use my name. Okay. Hold on. Let me think. I really love that you’re going after a new mom cause it’s so micro niche and I’m obsessed with that. Okay. So I feel like I really like that too. Cause then I feel like I can evolve with her. So I’ll have episodes that start kind of with that. And then I can evolve to eventually, you know, multiple kids. Yeah as you grow with her as she grows, yeah.
(15:37)
Let me give you two words that I absolutely love and maybe they’ll click or not. I love the word thriving, and I feel when you say that word, you just feel like this amazing emotion. And energized I feel like those are two really good feeling words that I like. I like those. Here’s the thing within those types of words, I want those in our promise to her, but those do not give me clarity on what is this podcast really about.
(16:09)
We want it to either be funny, so it’s super clickbait like, Ooh, this is new mama who dis? You’re clicking on that. It’s funny. Or motherhood made simple, where it’s almost, Oh this is about simplifying processes, right. Yeah. So, I love energize and thrive and let’s plug those into the promise, which is right there in the top as well. Cause the only thing with those is you don’t know what they mean. Right. Okay.
(16:40)
If we were to say motherhood energized or energized and thriving in motherhood, it’s okay. And then we would just have to put a promise in the channel art of but what, how? What exactly is it? There are thousands of motherhood podcasts, right? Right. So how can we be clear? What is this?
(17:03)
Really our goal is helping her transition. Right? Yeah. Back to work, it’s kind of like motherhood hacks. I like that. Yeah. Motherhood hacks for the new working mom. Like we want to get so obvious and so unclever with our title, unless we’re going the funny route, that’s how you get listens. Cause it’s obvious of what is it? Does that make sense? Yeah.
(17:30)
I’m not super funny. So I don’t know the motherhood who dis or whatever that so fun, but it’s not really me. That’s good. It’s good to know. It doesn’t really fit my personality. Yeah. I’m not super gangster, like Joelle. She’s very normal to the point, which works so beautifully. Her brand goes with that, and so we went with like a super simple name.
(17:59)
Cause she’s doing a lot of tactical training in hers. And so if you’re going in that same direction. Joelle and I are almost the same person. Perfect. That helps. So maybe something like motherhood made easy? What you’re trying to do here is be like let me hold your hand. This doesn’t have to be so hard. Right? Yes. That’s exactly what I’m trying to do.
(18:25)
So something like motherhood made easy for the working mom and you tell me. Because when you say something feels like it’s rightish. we’ll keep digging on that one. Okay. I kinda like the hacks. Motherhood hacks. Do you like motherhood? You like that word? Cause we could also do mom hacks, we have mama hacks. We can have motherhood hacks.
(18:50)
I think I like mom, mom hacks. So mom hacks. What type of mom hacks? Let’s get so clear here in our title and add another word or two to this. Mom hacks and mindset. Oh, I like that. I like adding in mindset. What about if it’s like mom hacks and mindset podcast? Then the promise is thrive and energize your motherhood journey. Oh my God. That’s so good. Oh, I’ve been waiting for that for you. I love it. I love it.
(19:26)
You know why I love energize your motherhood journey because you’re using health and fitness and wellness. Yes. And then thrive. The only piece I feel like we might be missing here is that it’s for the working mom. Yeah. So we’ve got mom hacks and mindset podcast, thrive and energize your motherhood journey. Well maybe we can just plug that in the description because it is only going to be a third of your show. Where someone could listen that’s not a working mom. Yeah.
(19:56)
A lot of what I talk about will apply to stay at home moms as well, okay. Let me make sure this doesn’t have a podcast called this. There’s not even like a mom hacks podcast. That’s crazy. That is crazy. Let me ask you a question. What if you played off of this hack idea and you had like the mom hack podcast, but it was clear.
(20:23)
Thrive and energize your new motherhood journey. So we know who it’s for. New motherhood journey. Okay. And what if every episode is a hack? Every episode. Okay. Example. So let’s go category one hack trick your kids into eating healthy. Okay. Hey guys, let me introduce you to these sweet potato fries. There’s four ingredients.
(20:51)
So now you’ve just helped them with something in the realm of health that has to do with a kid or mom hack. Did you know working out five times a day equals 25 minutes and it’s exactly the same benefit. I like that a lot because a lot of this stuff can fall into that like sleep training hacks. Exactly, how to travel with an infant. Yeah.
(21:15)
I almost like this so much because what if they were like mini-sodes where they were 10 minutes or less? Cause I am super over the long personally. I like the short and interesting, I like both. But there’s not enough short, interesting podcasts out there. Most of them are super long which is fine, cause I have one of those. No offense to myself, but I was just on a podcast today and hers were 15 minute mini interviews and I was like, oh my gosh. We’re to the point, this is so cool. There’s not enough of this.
(21:51)
So I really like you going against the grain of all these motherhood podcasts because how do you stand out? Right. And what if everyone is one hack, a story of how you personally used it and then like a tangible takeaway of how they can implement that hack into their own life. Okay.
(22:09)
I love this because I was thinking about my ideal customer and I wanted to do shorter episodes anyway, because I feel like I listen to episodes when I’m in the car and I’m not in the car for like a half an hour at a time. Yeah. So I love to get through an episode that’s quick while I’m driving around. I’m not one to like sit and listen while I’m just walking around the house for an hour or something like that. So yeah.
(22:36)
You know, it’s so funny, cause my friend, another girl you’ll have to go look at her show. Chelsi Jo, okay. Chelsi, Jo Moore. She has a show called Systemize Your Life. I mean, and she’ll post hacks on her stories. She doesn’t do hacks. She doesn’t know that’s what she’s doing, but it just made me think of this. She’s making a bean burrito that’s warmed and putting it in a thermos in her kids’ lunch so that they have a warm lunch. My brain exploded, oh my gosh, I’ve never heard of that.
(23:03)
I’m like sharing it and I’m voicing her and I’m like, you just changed my life and like a simple hack. And so I would challenge you to think about, and I mean, there’s gotta be a million hacks on the internet that you can just get inspiration from. So cool. Anyway, I’m really excited about this idea because it’s different. Okay, good. I’m glad. Yeah. Okay.
(23:25)
So is it just the mom hacks so we’re leaving off the mindset? Mom hacks. Now let me Go Daddy it though. Cause pretty sure that URL will be gone. If not, I’m going to faint. Let’s see. Okay. So mom hacks is taken, but what about mom hacks podcast? It’s available. Oh my gosh.
(23:50)
Okay. So mom hacks podcast or the mom hacks podcast or mom hacks the podcast that’s available as well or the mom hacks podcast also available. I like mom hacks podcast. This mom brain podcast I just looked up. Their whole thing is like mom brain. Like that’s the name of their show? And then they have their name on there and the tagline on there as well. To me it’s to the point.
(24:24)
Then there’s also one right next to it the purpose show instead of just purpose show. It’s personal preference. Yeah. Do you think one sounds better? I think I like the in front. The mom hacks podcast. Oh my gosh. So good. Thrive and energize your new motherhood journey. So good. Oh my gosh. I love it. So you’ve got to grab the domain, grab the URL and make sure you get that set up in Podbean so that you have all the basis for claiming your name.
(25:00)
Then as far as a description, I think that’s really where you want to let them know. Hey new mama, I remember being in your shoes and feeling so confused, so overwhelmed with all the information out there about motherhood. It was so confusing. I didn’t know where to start, and so I was consumed with mom guilt, struggling to transition into a working mom again. And I just wished there was a place to go that would provide me clear guidance and simple, quick, easy solutions for the problems I was facing.
(25:37)
Well, hey, don’t worry. I created it for you. Welcome to the mom hacks podcast, where in every single episode I will provide you a simple tactical hack in the areas of self care, health, wellness. Then, you could even put in parentheses (AKA tricking your kids into eating veggies). Fortunately, I know how to do.
(26:02)
Mom life solutions that will help you simplify motherhood and even productivity, goal setting and habit creation to make your transition back into the workspace that much more simplified. Welcome to the show. I was just trying to think if there’s like a cute way to wrap it up, like, welcome to the show, nap time warrior. Oh, that is so good. Okay. Done. I know. I love it.
(26:28)
Do you feel more comfortable? Yes, I feel like I have a ton of clarity on exactly how to structure it and how to create the episodes, the title and all. Oh my gosh. It’s amazing, and now I’m pumped for this. I’m all about differentiating yourself in the podcast world. And especially in this whole motherhood arena. Therefore, if you can get something sticky that no one else is doing, that’s where you find a ton of success.
(27:03)
I think this is such a cool, unique idea and it fits into all the things you want to talk about. Most perfect. Okay. So last thing is monetizing your business. So last thing monetizing with your business. Yes. Before we go. Is this the one way you make money today? Yes. And you want to continue making money that way, right? Correct. Okay.
(27:26)
I would within each episode, whether you want to do it at the front, in the middle, at the end, every single time, let them know. Hey, new mama, this episode is sponsored by my favorite product line, also mini fitness regime. I’m so excited about this. If you have those last 10 stubborn pounds or you’re struggling to find an easier way to eat that doesn’t include just bacon and cheese. Please let me know because I’ve got a solution for you.
(27:59)
It’s super affordable. There have been result after result after result, want more information? Shoot me a DM on Instagram at blah, blah, blah. Or if you have like, I don’t know if you have a website with a landing page or anything like that, but if not just funnel these leads in through Instagram or through email. Okay. And don’t tell them the name because the second you say Beachbody, people are like, well I’ve been there done that.
(28:21)
Here’s the thing. If somebody is listening to this, they’re trusting you, they’re liking you, they’re learning from you. And they’re going to be curious and they’re going to go and just DM you to say, hey, which product line are you talking about? Okay. And now you have a conversation going and that’s as you know how you end up getting someone to try the products or opening that door really, to seeing if you can help them. Thank you so, so much for your help. I appreciate it. You’re so welcome.
