(00:00):
Hello, dear friend! Happy Monday! I love Monday! Do you love Monday? I only love Monday when I have a really good Sunday though. Meal, prepping groceries, fridge full, everything’s clean, organized. My planner is ready, locked, and loaded. You. A girl is on fire for a good Monday, and I’ve definitely had two cups of coffee. So there’s that.
(00:23):
Anyway, today I am so thrilled to bring you this live coaching session that I did with Monica Baker, where we really cleaned up the five pillars of her brand. So we really discussed what this is going to look like going from her clarity work that she did and Clarify Your Calling.
(00:41):
And we just took 30 minutes to clean it all up together in an unstuck session. And we came up with title, tagline, description, pillars, and she really is able to walk away with 100% confidence that she is building a passive revenue business based on her callings, that super sticky, tactical and punchy, because all of that is important when you go out to build your business so you can have success faster.
(01:06):
Nobody’s wondering, what do you actually do? What are you saying to me? What does that mean? You know, nothing elusive, no big topic. It’s like super clean and clear. You guys are going to love this. (03:57):
Hi Monica.
(03:59):
How are you?
(04:00):
Good. How’s it going?
(04:02):
Good.
(04:04):
So excited to do some coaching with you today. So where are you in? Obviously you’ve taken CYC.
(04:09):
Yes. And I’ve started the Podcast Pro University, but just started it.
(04:13):
Okay, perfect. And I skimmed your notes. So I’ve got like a basic understanding, but I’d love for you to just tell me what the direction is, kind of your vision for what you want to create. And then what you’re feeling most stuck about.
(04:27):
I’m thinking it’s going to be for the busy, overwhelmed, exhausted mom who is trying to do it all working full time, gets ready in the morning quickly, that’s just exhausted, that… I’m a nurse. And since when I went casual, they were like, oh, I wish I could do that. Over the years, lots of people have said that.
(04:48):
What doeas that mean you went casual?
(04:50):
Like working when I want, instead of when the boss wants. So I’m kind of stuck as far as like, am I trying to get people out of work? Am I trying to get them out of debt and work with their expenses so that they can, because most of these, my avatar Molly is overwhelmed, but she also has a lot of debt. So she feels like she has to work. So a lot of people it’s like, you can do this. It’s just the choices you make. And so it’s about simplifying life and just reducing that debt and expenses and bringing the faith into it and personal development. I really want to add that in there as well. Okay.
(05:28):
You know why I really liked that debt, at least as a pillar is because it makes you different. It’s about like simplify your life, which is fine. But like, I love that you have something niche and different that you can add in there. And so I think we should really capitalize on that part as like half of the messaging. Now when you say simplify life, that’s so big. Tell me what that means to you.
(05:54):
Just simplifying routines, such as like laundry and cooking and just everything scheduled, saying no.
(06:02):
Oh yeah. You even mentioned up in here, like growing your own food, minimalism wardrobe.
(06:08):
Yeah. Kind of all that. Just to keep everything streamlined and simple.
(06:13):
I like that. Ooh, streamlined. Simple. Okay. Let’s go do your pillars first. Let’s clean up your pillars and then we’ll work backwards. So we’ll go pillars, I help statement, tagline, title. So obviously I want to do simplifying your finances. I think that definitely needs to be one of your pillars. So finances/debt reduction or debt free.
(06:38):
And that’s kind of fun because I mean, you really are offering this person like this whole, it’s like a simplification framework for her life and finances. It’s like, we’ll figure it out. So that’s pillar one and know they don’t have the order. So that was just the first one that came to my mind. The second one was home. So it was like simplifying home routines. Let’s be more specific than simplifying life. Should we say like simplifying home routines.
(07:08):
That’s good.
(07:09):
And then in that bucket is like you said, the laundry, cooking, schedules,
(07:15):
Wardrobe, gardening.
(07:17):
Next step. We had faith was important to you. So what specifically in there do you want to bring into the show?
(07:27):
Actually, that would be the simplified routine with that, starting out in the morning, making that time in the morning. So maybe more faith or if it’s personal development, kind of both of them together.
(07:40):
Perfect. I love that. And that gives you some room to wiggle and either one are important. So that’s great. Okay. Are we forgetting a pillar or does everything else that we do fit under our finances, debt, bucket, or home routine bucket or our PD faith bucket?
(07:57):
I think so.
(07:58):
Okay. So let’s see if we can’t come up with a I help statement for this and then we’ll shorten that and clean it up to become like a podcast tagline. We can use the word busy. The other word though, that you said to me, like three times in a row was like, she’s so exhaustedLike she is busy is like a descriptive, but how she’s feeling is that she’s feeling tired.
(08:23):
I actually have overwhelmed and tired by that busy. So yeah.
(08:28):
I love it. So maybe it’s like, I help tired moms simplify their home ao there can be an and here. So let me just say things and you tell me the direction you like. It could be like, I help tired moms, simplify home routines, create time for faith and reduce debt where it’s like literally three separate types of things. Or we try to mesh it into one type of thing. Like I help tired moms simplify routines because two of them are routines, home and faith and get out of debt.
(08:57):
Yeah. I like that.
(08:58):
Okay. So how does this feel? I help tired moms simplify, create routines and get out of debt.
(09:05):
I liked that. Although somebody in the group said they didn’t like the create because it sounds like you’re having them do something else. So I did have that in one of my I helped statements.
(09:17):
Maybe it’s like, I help tired moms simplify her home. I think it is. I think it’s create routines and get out of debt.
(09:25):
I like it.
(09:26):
I do too. Yeah. I wouldn’t be turned off by create routine. I’d be like, thank the Lord. One more time. I help tired moms simplify her home, create routines and get out of debt. I think that feels great.
(09:39):
Yeah. I like it.
(09:40):
Okay. So this is going to be the I help, which would go in like an IG bio or a website header, you know? So now we’re going to back up even more. I’m going to go tagline and all we’re going to do is shorten it so that it fits on a podcast graphic. So that becomes simplify your home, create routines and get out of debt. Period.
(10:03):
And now what we’re missing is this for who so our for who is either going to be in our name of the podcast or we’ll tack it onto the tagline. For tired moms, if we want to tack it onto our tags. So let’s see what our title becomes. Did you have any title ideas? I saw that you already own monicabaker.com.
(10:24):
Yes. And I also kind of go by Living Simple with Monica, but I didn’t know how that was for keywords and how it was for a title.
(10:35):
It’s fine. Let’s just see if there’s something else that sticks out more and we can always still use Monica baker.com. You know, when you think of like an umbrella, we’ve got monicabaker.com and let’s say we were like going to do Simplified Living for Moms. It was something like, that’s the podcast name, the simple living framework course over here. And then we had whatever else, something else.
(10:57):
Well, the cool thing is everything you mark it you’re like just head to monicabaker.com and click on podcast and click on courses and click on … like that’s what I had built. And I’m glad that I built that because no matter what you would ever rebrand to, if you ever did your name will never change. So while I don’t think your podcast should be called Monica Baker Podcast yet. We earned that but I think that your .com could totally stay that.
(11:24):
Okay. You just don’t put it in the podcast.
(11:28):
Alone. Right? Like the Monica Baker Show until you have half a million, 2 million downloads and people like, oh yeah, Monica Baker is that simple living girl, we know her, we talk about her. She’s known for her niche. We want to get found for an SEO phrase. You can rebrand later if you want to be the Monica Baker Show, right?
(11:43):
Yes.
(11:45):
Let’s come up with some ideas and then if nothing else is singing to us, I like living simple with Monica. That’s fine. Living simple is specific. It is something that we would understand what that might mean. It’s fine also because our tagline is super specific. So if we went with that, it would be Living Simplewith Monica. That’d be your podcast name.
(12:06):
On the art would say, simplify your home, create routines and get out of debt for tired moms. So that would work, but let’s just make sure that that’s what we want. So we’ve got simplified life for her. These are a little long, but let’s just keep going with it. Like I want to say like claiming the simple life. She’s like claiming simplicity. That’s a good one.
(12:27):
Oh, I like the claiming simplicity too. I really like that one out of all of them.
(12:32):
Yeah, me too. Now, again, these are not SEO. So like, if we do doing less better, we would have to put in busy mom and our tag and stuff, which is fine because either way we can get our SEO covered. Let’s go look at claiming simplicity. Just to see if that’s available. You try claimingsimplicity.com.
(13:10):
We both really liked that. So just close your eyes for a minute. I’m going to read you both and see which one like really clicks with your heart. So you have Living simple with Monica, simplify your home, create routines and get out of debt for tired moms. Claiming simplicity, simplify your home, create routines and get out of debt for tired moms.
(13:31):
I really like that. That’s my favorite. So I still want you to buy the.com. Because we can still build, do you already have Monica baker.com built out as a website or of any kind?
(13:47):
So just have both, I want you to buy both and own both. And then I want to get all of the claiming simplicity, social handles that you can. So like try to create an Instagram account and get claiming simplicity and try to get a Pinterest account with claiming simplicity, any social that you can think of just to have them, that way no one else can. We don’t have to do anything with them right now.
(14:13):
Let’s go description now. I’ll just refer to a description. You’ll have to relisten and transcribe it and then make it your own. But just to give you a visual and you know, a description goes, you’ll see this in PPU, Monica, but your description in your podcast, when you create your show, it’s this it’s like, blah, blah. This is what the show’s all about. From this big description, you can pull out about 45 seconds of it to become your intro.
(14:46):
The intro, you know, that short snippet at the beginning of your podcast, you can get of those from this one riff that I’ll give you. Give me a little bit about you. What was happening for Monica before you figured out how to simplify? Like, I want you to be like, you know, like, Hi! I’m Monica mom of blank. I used to blah, blah. And life was blah, blah. Tell me those things so I can put them in.
(15:12):
I had three kids under three working full time and we were at something and they talked about your values and time. So match your values up with your time being spent. And so that was twenty-five years ago or so, but that really totally changed my life.
(15:31):
We talked about values versus time. What was not happening?
(15:34):
Well, if God and family were first, but I was spending all my time at work, it just was off balance and it could never be balanced. So when I lost the debt and just totally created a different lifestyle, it just made a difference working around my family instead of around a job.
(15:55):
And you got out of debt? And also, you created a career plan that allowed you to scale out of working?(16:06):
Yes. So we always said that we would only use one income, even if I was working, just because we didn’t ever want to fall back into that. Having to work, both parents working.
(16:18):
Welcome to Claiming Simplicity Podcast, where I teach you how to simplify your home, create routines and get out of debt. I remember what it feels like to be tired, so exhausted to be doing it all in working full time, then coming home, trying to pour into your kids, but having nothing left. I remember what it feels like to be swimming in debt and feel like I was married to my job simply so that I could live paycheck to paycheck.
(16:51):
And I remember hating it. If that’s you, you’re in the right place. I want you to know there is freedom in claiming simplicity over your life. Hi, I’m Monica. I had three kids under three was working full time and I heard something 25 years ago that changed my life. I heard that if you compare your values and your time, you would have a clear picture of what is not working in your life.
(17:17):
I realized that if I was going to put God and family first, I had to stop spending all my time at work. I had to create a plan in order to step into more balance. Together with my husband and God I created a simplified life plan that allowed me to get out of debt, scale back my career and still be able to live fruitfully. But here’s the kicker with more purpose and time than ever before. So, I never looked back.
(17:45):
Inside this podcast, you will learn how to simplify your finances, get out of debt, create home routines that are going to change your life within laundry, cooking, scheduling, wardrobes, growing your own food, gardening, and so much more and how to simplify your personal development of faith routines so that you can fit them in every day. I’m so grateful that you’re here. Grab that planner and that notebook. It’s time to claim simplicity.
(18:12):
So transcribe that section, you can use temi.com. You can take our recording from today and then you can literally use that if you loved it. So there you go. Now it’s too long for the intro. So you’re going to have to chop it down to about 45 seconds. We have five minutes. Let’s do podcast episodes. Let’s start with this Monica twenty-five years ago, right there as a ringing start the values versus time assessment right there.
(18:42):
Because remember this woman, here’s the problem. Often when we create content, we come from where we are. We’re like, oh, how to simplify your scheduling process? Well, they don’t have a scheduling process yet. She’s twenty-five years ago, Monica. So we’ve got to start with all the way back at elementary concepts that you’re like, really?
(19:05):
I want you to go so ridiculously basic with her, Monica, get her out of those trenches with you. Even if that takes six months of podcast content, before you start moving her into like where she can become, you know, where she can go. Does that make sense?
(19:20):
Yes, very much so.
(19:22):
So the first thing I would love is like this conversation of values versus time. So let’s come up with a triggering title for that. Compare your values to your time, build a balanced life plan for tired over worked moms or something. So it’s like comparing your values to your time. Now that’s a little bit elusive, you know, like, well, what does that mean? Well, it means we’re going to build a balanced life plan.
(19:49):
And then for who? tired overworked moms. So now we’ve created balanced life plan could be a search term. Overworked moms is a search term cause we’ve already used tired moms. So see what we’re doing here. So we’re like bringing them in with our keywords. And so in here, what I would love because it’s episode one, Monica is your story of what happened for you 25 years ago.
(20:14):
So your story, why this podcast, what changed and then the actual value versus time assessment, maybe I should see that value versus time assessment. So now they’re like, okay, I have a value versus time assessment. What would be the very next micro step that you would do? Because what happened for you? You did this assessment, and still nothing changed overnight.
(20:39):
No, we started getting out of debt really.
(20:42):
So you discovered, you had the plan to stop working so much, right?
(20:47):
So you had problems solving framework to create more time.
(20:53):
So like, and I don’t know if I want to put Dave Ramsey in there, but similar.
(20:59):
Okay. So what do you think of this one problem solving framework to create more time for working moms who want to work less? So what’s inside this episode, Monica is you first had to look at all the answers from your assessment. You said debt, right? So you basically took all the problems. I’m working too much. We’re in debt. I don’t spend time with my children, blah, blah, blah. And you put them in order.
(21:25):
So, okay. I’m gonna write this down for, you. Took all the problems, put them in order of highest priority. And you took the first one, which was debt. Because if debt didn’t go away, you couldn’t quit working so much, right. Spend time with your kid. That was a waterfall from debt.
(21:41):
Actually I started doing daycare to make more time with my kids and make more money.
(21:48):
So that’s perfect. So what I like in here is this is the framework so you’re having them reorder everything, pick the highest priority item and then give them like a few example solutions and their homework should be they need to come up with an example solution and come share it in our free Facebook group.
(22:07):
It’s like example solutions. And so give a few of your examples solutions. This is not remember these are micro. We don’t want to give them everything in one episode. Cause we could stretch that out. You know, like, okay, now we’re moving into the next thing of how we implement the solution, et cetera. So you’re literally going, I want you to like spend a couple of hours and I want you to write down everything that you remember from the moment that you did the values, time assessment to getting out of debt. Like every step.
(22:37):
Cause that was the first thing you guys went to achieve. And then I want you to think of what episodes can I create from that to get her there too. You’ll have 20 episodes right there, but at least you have two to start with.
(22:52):
Did you love that coaching episode or what? I’m so excited for Monica. You guys be sure you follow along on her journey and just a quick thought.
