Welcome to my conversation with Teresa Davis. She’s a grief mentor, author, and podcaster (with a tremendous live launch testimony!) She’s been married for 42 years to the love of her life. She’s a momma of two children and six grandbabies.
In 2018, life as she knew it ended when her son Andrew was killed in a plane crash. The Grief Mentor Podcast and ministry was born out of the ashes of her grief. Friends, I am so honored that God chose me to be Teresa’s business and podcast coach to bring this beautiful, incredible purpose into the world. She is reaching grieving parents all across the globe.
Also, in the time that she went through my group coaching program Podcast to Profit, she had a very successful live launch, went from a 10% podcast ranking in her category to a top 2% podcast, doubled her downloads, and learned how to create this beautiful offer that helps her support these grieving parents precisely with what they needed to find God’s comfort through their grief.
It’s essential to me that everybody sees their work as the ministry and purpose of life that God has gifted them with. This is so much bigger than a business. Sometimes, we start with either, “Oh, it’s just this little hobby,” or “it’s just a way to get some money.“
I need to figure out my live launch, or my sales strategy. That’s all important,
Your life launch and sales strategy are essential, but that’s only the start of God’s plan for you because your life’s purpose, work, and legacy are almost too big to accept initially. During P2P, you have no choice but to finally unlock your heart and be fully in it with the Lord.
Keep reading to find out how Teresa was able to have an explosive live launch and also how she was able to grow and expand a brand that is also a beautiful ministry for grieving parents.
Building a Live Launch Based on Purpose Work
Stef: Hi, Ms. Teresa; welcome to the podcast, my friend.
Teresa: Hello Stefanie, it’s so good to be with you today.
Stef: Can you tell us what your podcast is called and what you do?
Teresa: My podcast is called The Grief Mentor, and I help people navigate life after child loss.
Stef: This is such a ministry and a mission over your life. I think you have to have a strong heart to be able to step into a space like that. Was it hard for you to decide on this brand? Did God speak a word and you knew it was the brand?
Teresa: The Lord put it on my heart. I started sharing my grief on social media here and there, and the response was incredible. It was clear to me that the Holy Spirit wanted me to get the word out. And I was like I do not know how to do that. The Lord told me He wanted me to start a podcast. It was definitely obedience to a calling that He placed on my life.
Stef: How did you find me? What happened for you to end up in Podcast to Profit (P2P)?
Teresa: I had been following this particular person for a while, and you were a guest on her show. When I heard you on the podcast I connected with you immediately. I was like I’m going to check this chick out. I was like I’m going to go to your podcast, and the rest is history.
Be a Guest on a Show: A Strategy to Bring New Clients to Your Live Launch
Stef: I think this is so interesting that you bring this up. You heard me on someone else’s podcast. This is something I teach inside my program, the importance of guesting. People who listen to someone’s show have already been edified. They are listening to someone they already trust. When a guest comes on, the bridge to trust is almost instantaneous. Let’s talk about that moment when you decided you wanted to do the program. What was that like? What were the biggest hurdles for you?
Teresa: When you’ve been through what I’ve been through, you realize how fragile life is. I wanted to make sure this was the route that the Holy Spirit was taking me on. That was my first hurdle.
My second hurdle was the investment. My husband and I prayed over the decision together. He’s always been my biggest supporter. He said he knew this was God’s will for me. So I thought, “You’ve got the Holy Spirit saying yes and your husband saying yes.” What can a girl do? The decision was made at that moment.
Don’t Let Fear Stop You From Starting Your Business
Stef: That made me tear up because I think so many women have such a fear of approaching their spouse with their plans. Many of the women are not moving forward because they are in fear of what their spouses may say.
My thoughts are that you do not know until you ask the Lord. You don’t know until you approach your spouse with humility and honesty about why you want to move forward. Watch what the Lord might do. How do you know if you don’t try that? That’s been my experience.
Teresa: I probably wouldn’t have had the confidence that I had through the program if it hadn’t been for him. He said he was waiting for me to get there because the Lord already told him.
Stef: I love that so much. Let’s talk about the program. When you got into the program, what was it like for you? What was your first impression over the first few months?
Teresa: I have so much to say about this. I honestly don’t think there is anything out there like this. My experience inside P2P is that there is a lot of tactical stuff in the first few steps that you have to have. It’s the foundational step. You’ve built this incredible program with all the steps.
Podcast to Profit Has all the Steps to a Successful Live Launch
Teresa: I needed it all. I needed the tactical pieces. I didn’t know how to set up a live launch or a flash sale. Also, I didn’t know about SEO or the TSO statement. I learned so much that helped me build an incredible foundation. I needed that confidence.
What I want to say about the program is that I have never seen a program with support like this before. It’s not superficial support, it’s 24/7 support. It’s deep support. The coaches in your program and you provide the confidence that helps us know that we will be successful. If you aren’t successful, it’s because you didn’t ask for help.
Stef: That’s exactly it. I can attest I’ve been through quite a bit of programs myself. That is why we continue to stack P2P. When I went through some programs, I recognized that it was lacking. Or, I didn’t want to go through a call where I got some copycat answers and didn’t actually get some help.
The Key to a Successful Live Launch and Business Foundation
Stef: I built P2P layers deep. So no matter where a person is stuck, they will get a breakthrough as long as they show up for it. And you’re attesting to that. We are going to get our students through our program with no excuses. I love that you said it’s 24/7 support. We literally have a coach every single day in different time zones on purpose. So that everybody can keep moving. I think that really speaks to my heart that you said that. This has been a labor of love for four years to get this program where it is.
Teresa: I think as Christ’s followers, the biggest mistake we make is putting God in our box of possibilities. The way I live my life now is if He’s called you to do something, He will make a way. Also, Stefanie, your strengths gave me the potential to use my strengths. And I already made back what I invested in the program while I was in the program. I mean, how incredible is that?
Stef: Yes, yes!
Find out Your Calling and Have a Meaningful Live Launch
Teresa: You’ve given me the ability to fulfill my calling because you were obedient in what you created for God to use. Think of His voice that is out there in all these podcasts that God has used you to raise these women up. I’m going to start crying.
Stef: I’m going to start crying. Who’s going to cry first?
Teresa: That’s the kind of God we serve. God brought us together for such a time as this. He will take that yes. He will bring fruit for the kingdom if we are obedient.
Stef: That’s 100% right. Thank you for bringing that up. That has really blessed me. Let’s talk about your outcomes. What were your tactical wins and takeaways now that you’ve been through P2P twice?
You can Have These Live Launch Wins and Stats, Too!
Teresa: It’s quite incredible actually. Before I joined P2P my listen score was in the low 20’s, now it is 38 and climbing. I was ranked 10% in my niche globally, now 2%. My podcast downloads have doubled. My superfans went from 250 to 649.
Stef: Oh my gosh, that’s crazy!
Teresa: Yes it is. For my live launch, 9% of my superfans signed up for the workshop. Then 40% of them showed up live. I had an 88% retention rate during my live launch talk. I would have never dreamed that that was possible. Now, I have these beautiful students inside this program that you helped me create and that God has brought before me to do what He has called me to do. I don’t even know how to wrap my mind around that. I made some mistakes, but what God taught me was I thought I had to be perfect, but He just wanted my willing heart.
Stef: That’s right.
Teresa: That is such a lesson to learn. What you teach us is to bless and release it.
You’re Business Doesn’t Have to Be Perfect. Just Pray and Do Your Best
Stef: Yes bless and release it. Fail forward—all those things. You have to take messy action. Running a profitable online business is a lot. That is why I built a program that doesn’t feel like a lot. It’s hard, but it can be done step by step.
I’ve been in this game for 15 years. I know exactly what not to do because I’ve done all of it. Talk about failing forward. I had multiple offers that were wrong and priced incorrectly. I’ve had failed businesses and failed launches. I know what not to do.
I’m very serious when people get into my program about what to do and what not to do. I will tell y’all straight when something is off, right? I do that because I want you to focus on the one specific thing you are supposed to be doing right now.
If you try to do 13 things at once, you are completely frozen, and we can’t move forward and take that audacious action. This program will remove the confusion of getting to a significant audacious end result. You will take one step at a time and follow the program, which will really simplify it.
How to Master the Art of the Live Launch
Teresa: I agree 100%. I know that it is structured this way for a reason. The beauty for me is that now I have this beautiful foundation. On top of that, even though I am done with the program, you taught me how to scale before I left the program. Now I have the tools of what to do with my next launch, and my next launch, and my next launch.
Stef: Exactly, it’s rinse and repeat. I am so proud of you for continuing to show up for yourself. For believing in yourself enough to do hard things, for pushing through something that was probably really hard. But you persevered, and God blessed that obedience.
I just pray that He continues to open doors for you and these incredible parents who need you so much. Keep going, and keep shining. I’m so proud of you. Teresa, what do you want to say to encourage them? And Teresa, how can they find your incredible podcast?
Teresa: Fear is a liar. The enemy’s goal is to keep us idle. You’ll never reach the transformation, staying in the place of being idle. Don’t allow the enemy to rob you of your purpose because, in your mind, you can’t figure out how. Because if He’s put someone like Stef in front of you, Stef has the how you just have to say yes to her teaching you how.
I pray this blesses you!
