defeat the enemy, strongholds and spiritual warfare
Hey Friend!
Today we’re talking about the 7 things that made me 7 figures as a christian business owner. Years ago, I dreamed of building a six-figure business, never realizing that making 7 figures was possible for me. And friends, it’s possible for you, too!
As I sat and pondered this topic more, I realized it’s not about doing more. What has truly helped me as a christian business owner (other than God – and spoiler alert, that’s one of our points today!) was getting back to the very tactical and tangible basics.
More often than not, I find that we’re too distracted from what makes a real difference in our businesses and in making 7 figures. It’s time to get back to the basics as christian business owners.
I don’t care how long you’ve been following me, you still need to hear this! You need to know these 7 things if your goal is to get your business to 7 figures. These specific tactics are quite simple, so I think you’ll be blessed in a BIG way by today’s blog post.
Let’s dive in!
As a 7 figure business owner, I wondered what the specific things were that made me not just become profitable, but kingdom profitable. I came up with 7 specific things that helped me give more, tithe more, and employ more people. These things have helped me make a difference as an online christian business owner and bring in 7 figures.
7 Figures as a Christian Business Owner Step 1: Surrender Your Business to God
Real talk, friends. The step you probably don’t want to hear (and likely sounds cliche) is that I had to surrender my business to God. This was the most important thing I did!
I had been running my business my way. And you know where that left me? It left me idolizing my business, focusing only on success, and putting my family and marriage second to my business. I was having success, but it was at the expense of everything else in my life.
In 2016 I hit a breaking point. So, I got a notebook and pen and began journaling to God. I asked Him who He was calling me to be, and how I could ever be that person if I was feeling broken. God redeemed me completely from that day forward. He helped me partner with Him in all areas of life, especially business. I began to integrate my faith with my work and saw crazy and wonderful things happen.
That day I made a decision: God was not just going to be my savior, but my Lord in every area of my life. I was done compartmentalizing my business from God. He would be in ALL of my business.
I then began journaling about this woman I knew God had created me to be in my life and business. Then, I had a true, come-to-Jesus moment about what He wanted for my business. And those were the first steps that let me know I was called to something more in this space.
7 Figures as a Christian Business Owner Step 2: Know Who You’re Serving
The second thing I did to make 7 figures online as a christian business owner was get out of my own way and stop assuming I knew who I was called to help. I learned that I didn’t really know who I was called to serve until I got into the weeds of my business.
After diving into Facebook groups and talking to people, I met a woman I felt I was supposed to help. She wanted to grow a kingdom business, but she didn’t know what that meant. She wanted to make an impact and help people, but she was saying things like, “I just want to make money online and work from home.”
The way she was positioning her needs, desires, and pain points had a huge disconnect from who she actually wanted to serve. This woman was my ideal target audience, also known as my avatar.
Once I got crystal clear on who my avatar was (i.e., Lola), I knew how to speak to her specifically. I knew how many kids she had, her demographic status, and where she was in her business journey.
Friends, get out of your own head! Go do research and figure out what your “Lola” needs from you. I teach the students in my program to do market research.
Here’s my advice for you: get on the phone with five people who fit your avatar and ask them these questions:
What is your number one problem right now, and why?
What have you tried that hasn’t worked?
If this was no longer a problem for you, what would be different?
If you ask these questions, you will receive gold in return! This is the perfect positioning for your business to reach the people you’re supposed to serve.
7 Figures as a Christian Business Owner Step 3: Start a Podcast
The third thing I did was start a podcast. I will argue that this is the most important step in gaining trust with your audience. It’s one thing to know who you’re talking to, but it’s quite another to connect with them. The online space is saturated, and that is why I don’t advise growing a business using social media. I think social media actually steals your success from you.
When I started my podcast, I was able to capture the attention of my ideal client for 15 to 30 minutes at a time. There is no other platform where you can hold attention for that long! Video content? Forget about it! With audio consumption, you can keep them for an extended period of time.
My podcast was targeted to my Lola. She found my podcast because of the way I titled it. She was attracted to it because I know how to create podcast art that converts well. I used keywords that I knew she would be searching for, such as “work from home” or “online marketing.”
She found my show and listened, and within one to two episodes, I had a new subscriber and someone who trusted me! If you ever want to make 7 figures in your business, you will have to earn trust, and your podcast is the way to do that.
7 Figures as a Christian Business Owner Step 4: Discover Your Core Offer
My offer was not born overnight, friends! We all have to start somewhere.
Consider Coaching First
I started with coaching and scaled $80 per hour to $800 per hour in less than 24 months. It was highly profitable, which was amazing, but it was such an invaluable time of learning, too! This time of coaching gave me clarity on what Lola actually needed.
I teach my students to coach first to come up with their future offers. I was in the trenches with these women for years figuring out their pain points and problems, which led me to create a clarity course.
The second program I created was called Podcast Pro University, teaching them how to take that clarity and launch a podcast. A few years later, I created Podcast to Profit, which is a six-month group coaching program. This program became my core offer.
It’s a Multi-Step Process
You can’t just gain clarity for your business and then be successful. Just like you can’t launch a podcast and become an overnight success! So many podcasts don’t grow because there’s important strategy and market research involved. There’s a true formula for having a profitable podcast, which is why this program encompassed everything Lola needed to make her business a success.
Keep Refining Your Offer
When I finally got clear on the words she used to explain her desires, such as:
I need consistent income.
I want a course that sells on autopilot.
I want to help people.
I want my downloads to explode.
I want to scale my business.
I need accountability.
I learned what my customers needed and built it into my product. Then, I beta-launched it. I refined it year after year. Now, three years later, it’s a 7 figure product!
When students come into this program with me, they learn it all! How to create a course, and all of the nuanced parts of having something scalable online.
This step will truly grow your kingdom business. Get in the weeds with some of your listeners and have one-on-one coaching to discover what they need. Yes, it took me multiple offers to get where I am today, but it’s a journey. Now that I have this product, I know this was the offer they wanted and needed all along.
7 Figures as a Christian Business Owner Step 5: Start an Email List
I am so glad I started collecting emails right away! Now I have over 27,000 people on my list. If social media explodes tomorrow (which, it might!) I won’t lose everything. You don’t want an entire business founded on a platform that could disappear overnight. You want to hold on to, love, and nurture the emails that God sends you for your business, and that is your email list.
Why is this so important? We have a 98% delivery rate (i.e., my messages are getting in front of people), 38% of people are opening the email (less than 1% of people will see your content on social media!), and 1.23% of people clicked on a link.
Let’s do some quick math: 1.23% of 27,000 people is roughly 332 people. That means, 332 people are doing the things I ask them to inside of my emails!
What should you do? Well, friend, think about why someone would want to receive your emails. I don’t think you need fifty freebies – you don’t even need one!
If you start your podcast, you can tell people to join your email list and you’ll send them the podcast early every week. Plus, they can be the first to know about tips and tricks, meal prep hacks, marriage bible verses, or whatever it is you think they want to know from you.
Figure out the thing they would want to receive from you, send it to them in email format, and let that be enough! I am not here to complicate your life with more funnels that have a chance of breaking. I am here to help things become more sustainable and simplified.
7 Figures as a Christian Business Owner Step 6: Create a Community
You need to create a community, and it doesn’t have to be Facebook! You now have clarity on your person, you’ve started your podcast, you’re growing your email list, and working on your core offer. But those things are all one-dimensional. It’s you talking to them, like in the podcast, or the email list. You need to create a place where your audience can talk back to you.
My company created a Facebook community where people would feel seen and heard, and can participate in fun, interactive posts. They can interact with me and my team, but also with each other. If you can cultivate a culture where they feel safe, seen, and valued, they will be more open to investing with you.
Now that your free things offer so much value, they can only imagine what a paid offer could provide for them! So, focus on growing a community that’s immersive, rich, and fun!
We have over 11,000 kingdom business owners as members of my Facebook community. If you aren’t in the group yet, what are you waiting for?
7 Figures as a Christian Business Owner Step 7: Create an Urgency Offer
Our final step to help you create 7 figures as a christian business owner is to create an urgency offer that will help you convert. I was making sales off of the podcast daily, but I knew there was a larger capacity for my company. I knew I was meant to employ more people and serve in a greater way, financially.
When we are called to go big for the kingdom of God, He will use us in a kingdom capacity. Don’t shy away from financial abundance, friends! We can do incredible things with what He’s blessed us with – not just within our own family, but for others. We love God first, and then we love our neighbors. What else can we do on this side of heaven? We can go big for God and for our companies!
Host a Bootcamp
In more recent days, I realized I needed something big, powerful, and immersive. So, two years ago I started a live, 5-day bootcamp. This was a breakthrough event that took us from a 6-figure to a 7-figure company. I did a five-day training that takes people through the very steps we went through in this post.
Once people join the bootcamp, they’re directed to a fun Facebook group, where everyone is chatting and prizes are being won. When I run a live bootcamp, I go from 1 to 2% conversion from the podcast or email list, to anywhere from 5% to 20% conversion rates! That, my friend, is powerful! If you want to run your own bootcamp in the future, come check it out and see how I do things.
Your urgency offer is not just about the money. If it’s just about making money, it won’t have the favor of the Lord on it. It’s about people overcoming fears of working with you. If you’ve created something that your person has been praying for, and God has equipped you for it, then you’re called to sell it!
Money is simply a means of exchange for what God has created. Let’s make this okay as business owners! It’s okay to show up and shine in the work for which God has positioned us.
