defeat the enemy, strongholds and spiritual warfare
Hey Friend!
We are talking about this fear some of you have, whether you’ve already started your podcast, whether you’re thinking about it, or whether you’re still saying you’ll never start a podcast, that you’re going to run out of things to say. You’re concerned you won’t have things to talk about next year. You’re wondering if you’ll have enough content.
I am 618 episodes in and I have endless content ideas. At any given time, I have 10-30 hot ideas inside my podcast workflow, and I have hundreds of other ideas in spreadsheets, documents, and emails. How can people possibly think they’re going to run out of things to say?
I have six amazing strategies for you, so I can prove to you that you’re not going to run out of things to say. So, buckle up, let’s dig in.
What is Your Fear Around Starting Your Podcast?
Are you stuck in your fear of how podcasting actually works? What are the steps? Are you wondering where to start? Maybe you don’t know what to call it or if you’ll have enough to say on your podcast. If you are thinking any or all of those things, I invite you to check out my Podcast for Growth Workshop, which shows you visually how podcasting works, what you actually do to start a podcast, and how a podcast makes money for your brand and your business.
I can’t wait to show this to you because I want you to have an open mind and heart about what is possible. I want you to be a learner, and I want you to take in all the different avenues and ways you can grow a business instead of being pigeonholed into the one thing the world says you have to do. That is not God’s way. God’s way is beautiful, peaceful, and joyful, and gives you your time back. I wish I could just implant into your heart all of the wonderfulness and prove to you what podcasting has done for me and so many of my students.
Instead, I invite you to watch, decide, and discern for yourself. Go to podcastforgrowth.com – it’s a 40-minute workshop and see if podcasting could be right for you.
No. 1: There Are a Variety of Topics for Your Podcast
General niche topics; endless things. There are endless things you can talk about on your podcast. Whether it’s about the big niche, the segment of the market you serve, or the ‘who’ that you serve. Taking one of those pieces and then dissecting that into all the little tiny pieces that go into that one thing.
Instead of having an episode on Three Tips to Declutter Your Kitchen, take Declutter Your Kitchen and make an episode about each and every step it takes. For example, Declutter Your Junk Drawer and Organize Your Coffees and Teas.
You take one of your topics and bring it down to the micro, micro level and then take that micro thing and break it down into sub-steps. This makes it limitless!
No. 2: Guest Interviews
Invite guests on your podcast to infuse a fresh perspective. I love bringing students onto my podcast who have gone through the courses and are succeeding. I like to bring on guests who have written a book I loved, or who teach something I don’t teach but that will add value to my audience. Find a guest that does something you don’t do so that you have variety.
Guests are an amazing way to bring more content. How many guests can you have on your podcast? Unlimited! No one I’ve ever met says no to free publicity. Get out of your own way here because everybody’s going to want to come and hang out on your podcast.
No. 3: Current or Seasonal Events
There’s always something happening that’s timely to who your avatar is. If you have a podcast specifically for moms, maybe it has something to do with summer, back-to-school, or a morning/evening routine.
If you have an identity in Christ, maybe there’s something happening in current events that you might want to touch on. You can always look at the news and trends. Remember that you don’t want to be too hyper-polarizing or sway too much into the political arena unless that’s your market. But you can touch on it; we all know the things that are going on in the world. It’s okay to talk about those things as they relate to your person.
You can also look at events that are specific to your niche or your industry. This is a constant flow of new ideas and topics that will keep your person really interested because it’s so relevant.
Another idea is a fitness or food podcast could talk about the seasonal things with holidays or getting ready to wear shorts in the summer.
No. 4: Audience Interaction
Your audience can be one of the most invaluable resources to create content. Their content, your person’s content that they submit, is going to be the highest conversion you could ever ask for because it’s straight from their heart and their mind.
It’s like content on a silver platter; give me all the questions you have baby! I love to feature your questions. Check out my SpeakPipe where you can leave me a question at stefaniegass.com/thepodcast. Reading some of the questions you’ve submitted; sometimes becomes a brain-teaser for me. They give me inspiration to create a topic for you.
Let your person submit questions and create topics for you. You can ask via a poll or email; you can ask in your Facebook communities. You can ask right on your podcast for them to submit a question via your own SpeakPipe plugin; it’s totally free. It’s such a great way to continue to generate new content.
No. 5: Share Personal Experiences or Stories
I recently had an episode about my morning routine and I’ve had episode updates about my business quarter, how my business is doing, and how I got off of social media.
What personal experiences – maybe you’ll want to have a couple of stories – do you have to connect with your audience? You want to have that; you allow it to be about you because it relates to your person.
Look at your journey and the challenges you’re going through, and reflect on what’s worked or hasn’t worked for you. What lessons have you learned? What have you gone through recently that’s niche-related? Those answers will make great episodes.
No. 6: Research-Based Episodes
What research can you do and then provide to your audience? For example, I have so many people I know that are taking the weight loss shot, so I asked my food coach about it, knowing she would have all the things to say about it. I told her she needed to do an episode on the miracle weight loss shot. She did a ton of research and just did a research-based episode on the topic. Her podcast is Fuel Her Awesome if you want to go check it out.
I’ve had research-based episodes on Why Now is the Best Time to Start a Podcast or statistics I wanted to share about how podcasting works to make the most money in our industry.
You can read books. You can even showcase a book and paraphrase from that book as long you always give credit. It’s okay to reference a book, an article, or a report you’ve read. Take time to organize these and present them in a different way.
Variety in Your Podcast Episodes
I think what I love so much about these six strategies is there’s such variety. These six strategies are so different and they allow your podcast to not get bland, boring, or stagnant. They allow you to have a whole bunch of cool ways and methods of getting content. It’s exciting and fun! You’re not going to get bored and your audience is going to be enticed. Honestly, it’s a never-ending well of amazing content that’s going to land for your person.
Take all of these strategies I’ve gifted you today and dive in. If you haven’t started, stop waiting! Tomorrow’s not going to be easier than today. It’s now. It’s right now. I encourage you to take this big leap of faith and start your podcast. You are qualified. You can do this. It’s actually easier than you think. You’re going to have so much support between me, my team, and the community we have. Just watch and see how podcasting can work to grow your audience, how much fun you can have, and how much growth you will see in yourself. Most importantly, your podcast can be a true way of providing for your family and your future.
