defeat the enemy, strongholds and spiritual warfare
Hey Friend!
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve discussed whether podcasting is right for you. A few people recently asked me, “How do I know if podcasting is right for me or my business model?” That’s what I will discuss with you today.
So if you’re sick of social, you’re tired of dancing on reels, writing endless captions, or feeling like you’ve got to be online 24/7, then this post is for you. Podcasting is for busy women looking for sustainability and evergreen lead-generating systems that work without being constantly ‘on.’
I’m recording this with zero makeup, bedhead hair, and in my PJs. I’m living my best life right now.
Does this sound enticing to you? It’s possible with podcasting. I know you may not be one hundred percent on board yet with podcasting.
If you’re curious about making real income, growing your lead pool, and generating clients without DMs or discovery calls, you can do all those things with podcasting.
I have two options for you. First, if you’re ready to hit the ground running, apply for my six-month group coaching program, Podcast to Profit. Or jump into my bootcamp, which is a five-day training.
In the bootcamp, I will send you a training session for five days. It will show you how:
Podcasting works
What podcasting looks like for you and your business
What to call your podcast
Details about monetizing a podcast through coaching or a core offer
And scaling
Consider both options as we dive in and see whether podcasting is right for you.
#1 Podcasting Is Right for You if You’re Sick of Social Media
The first way to know if podcasting is right for you is if you are sick of social media, but still want to market your business. Let me introduce you to a common word, more importantly, a common emotional reaction most entrepreneurs face: burnout.
Burnout is the constant grind of creating. I believe creating should be described as a flow. It should be peaceful, easy, and light. The Bible tells us what creation should be.
When we focus on short-form content and social media, creating becomes a grind. It becomes a 24/7 striving. Burnout takes root in our hearts and our lives. It steals from these important areas.
Podcasting is a long-form platform. This means that the same amount of time you spend making one reel, you could have recorded one podcast episode with a shelf life that never expires and works for you.
Reels live for maybe a day and are seen by one percent of your followers. These aren’t individuals looking to buy. They’re on social media to get the next dopamine hit. Podcasting is different.
With podcasting, you can show up once a week and still stay top-of-mind. If social media feels like a hamster wheel you’re ready to get off of, raise the white flag. Here’s your green light to pursue podcasting.
#2 Podcasting Is Right for You if You Don’t Love Being On Video
The second way you know that podcasting would be right for you and your business is that you don’t love being on video. If you’re not obsessed with being on camera every day, podcasting lets you show up in your sweats, messy bun, and create a value-packed episode.
Like I said in the intro, I’m recording this episode sitting here makeup-less. My hair is a disaster. I’m wearing my foam shoes and my PJs. I couldn’t be happier. It’s my dream come true!
My favorite day of the week is content day, where I record podcast episodes and do task work. I don’t have to get ready. Podcasting is freeing. Audio is powerful and intimate. It allows you to build trust through your voice. You also don’t have to use your face and mannerisms.
If you’re a teacher or communicator at heart, but video makes you anxious, cringe, and want to run to the corner and cry, then podcasting might be your best bet.
#3 Podcasting Is Right for You if You Want to Build Something That Lasts
The third way you know that podcasting is right for you is that you want to build something that lasts. Social media content disappears in twenty-four to forty-eight hours.
Podcast content lives for years. Google SEO, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and all the other places your podcast is found are one click away. My team and I will show you how to upload your podcast to a host and set up an RSS feed. Your podcast will be discoverable today, tomorrow, and for years to come.
Every episode becomes an evergreen, shareable asset. Some of my top downloaded episodes are from years ago. I want to create something that’s going to keep working for me:
While I sleep
When I go on vacation
When I’m out walking in the sunshine
When I’m playing with my chickens
When I’m at my kids’ baseball game
When I’m in the Word with the Lord in the morning.
I don’t want to think about creating content every day to stay relevant. No thank you. Instead, I want to be present in these other pockets of blessing the Lord has equipped me with, and let my show continue to work for me.
Another bonus of podcasting is that your content stacks. I’ve been podcasting for almost eight years with around eight hundred and fifty episodes. All the keywords, SEO, and searchability were not done in vain. None of that was a moot point.
All of it is still relevant, searchable, and sustainable. It’s something that’s going to last. If you want to create content that compounds instead of content that expires, you’re thinking like a podcaster already.
#4 Podcasting Is Right for You If You Want Leads and Clients Without Paid Advertising
The next way you know that podcasting is for you is that you want leads and clients without paid advertising. In my opinion, podcasting builds trust faster than any other platform. How do I know? Because I’ve been on every platform except TikTok.
I‘ve created every type of long-form content: blogging, podcasting, and YouTube. And I’ve created every type of short-form content: posts and reels. By the way, I’ve also done paid advertising. I’m here to tell you that podcasting was the only vessel I needed to get to about 500K in annual revenue.
The blog never really did anything. After five years of intense blogging, it’s not income-producing. We’re going to stop spending time on things like blogging that don’t produce revenue.
I didn’t use paid advertising until we had passed over 500K in annual revenue. It costs a lot of money to run paid ads. You should never run paid ads until you have validated your offer. And I might add, your offer should be worth six figures.
I didn’t start YouTube until I was a seven-figure company with a massive team and people who could manage that project. YouTube takes about ten times the amount of effort and income that podcasting does. YouTube wasn’t income-producing for over twelve months. My podcast started making money in week one when I sold my first client.
PODCASTING DUPLICATES YOU AND BUILDS RELATIONSHIPS
You can convert and nurture while you sleep, simply by having your podcast in the world. People will listen to it with or without you. Get comfortable with having a bunch of one-sided relationships. People think we are best friends because they listen to the show.
While that’s amazing, I don’t have the capacity for ten thousand best friends. But my podcast can hold space for those ten thousand people. It can teach, inspire, coach, and give them what they need to get started with podcasting. So can your show.
Podcasting duplicates you and puts you in thousands of people’s earbuds all across the world to generate leads and clients. All of this, without spending any money or being on multiple platforms. If you want, you can repurpose your podcast and be on social platforms, but you don’t need to.
If you combine your podcast with a strong core offer, leads roll in from the podcast directly to your inbox and your offer. You don’t need a freebie, paid advertising, or social accounts.
I’m not speaking in vain here. I was off Instagram for over two years and proved that I didn’t need social. Podcasting alone got my company to multiple six figures.
If you’re done boosting posts, wasting money on ads that don’t return, or showing up on thirteen different platforms, try podcasting. It gives you a smarter, more focused way to grow. Simplicity is one of my favorite words. Why do we make success and income production so hard? Our lives can be easy.
#5 Podcasting Is Right for You If You Love Teaching, Encouraging, Ministering, or Sharing Knowledge
As we consider the final point, whether podcasting is right for you, I want to ask you a question. Do you love to teach, encourage, minister, or share knowledge? If your answer is yes, then podcasting is right for you.
If you’re a natural encourager, coach, teacher, mentor, or storyteller and light up when helping people, podcasting gives you the microphone to do it.
Instead of just helping your neighbor, Mary, with her marriage, you’re now helping ten thousand Marys across the planet with their marriages.
Instead of helping Bob get his first career after forty, you’re now helping a thousand Bobs.
This is not about you. It’s about the people God has for you who are unreachable because of your small-minded thinking and capacity of lack. That sounds hardcore, but it comes from a place of tough love.
You have to show up where you will be heard, seen, and valued, and get to the heart issue with people fastest. That, my friend, will be through your voice and podcast.
If you have a message or method to help somebody, podcasting will give it wings.
Your podcast will truly reach the corners of the earth. People will listen in countries that you may never have even heard of. It’s mind-blowing.
Is Podcasting Right for You?
So that’s it; my five ways to know if podcasting is right for you. I want to leave you with a few bonus points. Podcasting is flexible, family-friendly, and faith-friendly. If you’re a Christian, you can find ways to sprinkle in your faith. Personally, it’s been a tool for evangelism without meaning to be.
You can podcast during nap time or from your phone in the car during pickup. You don’t have to compromise your peace or priorities, or sell your soul to your phone. For me, it’s worth everything.
If you want to learn more about podcasting and see if it is a fit for you, please check out my bootcamp. It will bless and challenge you and open your eyes to a different method God might be showing you.
I pray this blesses you. I’m excited for you. I don’t believe you read this post by accident. It’s God’s timing. And if it’s God’s will, He will make a way for you. Thanks for being here.
It’s been a hot minute since we’ve had a conversation around whether podcasting is right for you. A few people recently asked me, “How do I know for sure that podcasting is right for me or my business model?” That’s what I will discuss with you today.
