defeat the enemy, strongholds and spiritual warfare
Hey Friend!
Today, I want to discuss the three must-do actions to ensure you have a God-led business that makes income in the next 12 months. We will get real, tactical, and most importantly, stay aligned with God’s will as we continue to grow and glorify Him in our work.
Must-Do #1 for a God-Led Business that Makes Income: Get Clear on Your Ideal Audience
The first must-do is to get clear about who you’re serving. You need to have clarity on your mission and your ideal audience. This is where purpose and alignment come into play. Research shows that businesses thrive when they speak to a very specific audience. To have a God-led business that makes money, we have to stay hyper-focused on the “why” and the “who.”
I teach my students to micro-micro-niche down, which is where you drill down to a segment of the market, a particular identifier within that market, and then a “who.” For example, health, meal prep, and postpartum moms. This is an important step to take as you’re sitting down and creating plans for a God-led business.
Step 1: Write a Mission Statement
Write a one-sentence mission statement declaring who you help, what you help them achieve, and how you help them achieve it.
Step 2: Profile Your Ideal Client
What are your ideal client’s struggles, goals, and desires? Be as specific as possible! This will help further identify who you help in your business and ensure you’re speaking directly to them.
Step 3: Review Your Offers
Take a look at your current offers, content and strategy to ensure they align with your audience. If we have a content strategy around lifestyle, but we want to serve postpartum meal prep, then we aren’t aligned with our audience. This will disconnect us from the person we’re trying to serve. If your strategy is disconnected, that might be the reason you aren’t making the income you desire in your God-led business.
Step 4: Have a Business Meeting with God
I feel strongly about spending 30 minutes a day partnered with God in prayer and reflection. This is something I teach my students; I call it a business meeting with God. God isn’t segmented to the corners of your life where He fits in, He should permeate every area of your life, including your planning for the next year.
Ask the Lord for clarity on who you’re helping and what your mission is. Spend that 30 minutes with Him. I promise you won’t regret this time well spent.
Must-Do #2 for a God-Led Business that Makes Income: Focus on Consistent, Value-Driven, Long-Form Content
You’ve heard me say it before, and I will continue saying it! What is long-form content, you ask? You’re reading it right now. It’s blogging, YouTube, or podcasting (my favorite method). It’s the content that has no shelf life and doesn’t expire. Within these methods, your SEO continues to bring leads for years to come.
Step 1: Set Weekly Timeblocks
Set a weekly, recurring timeblock to record your podcast episodes. Every Wednesday is my content creation day. I batch two podcast episodes and work two weeks ahead of time so my team has adequate time to edit and prep the content for publishing.
Figure out what you’re producing inside of those timeblocks and then set a day and time. For instance, if you know it takes one hour to create a podcast episode, plan that time out accordingly. I teach my students that they can edit for as long as their podcast is in length. For example, you have 15 minutes to edit a 15-minute podcast. It’s all about efficiency!
Step 2: Plan Your Content Topics
You should plan your podcast topics for the next 4-6 weeks that address the top three pain points for your ideal audience.
Step 3: Create a Batching System
Create a system for batching content. As I mentioned earlier, I record two episodes every Wednesday. When I’m feeling like an overachiever, I record an extra episode to fill my episode bank. This way, if I get sick, have a sick kid, or simply want a day off, I can pull from my bank of episodes and fill my pipeline without having to record. In short, aim to be intentional about recording extra episodes when you can.
Step 4: Implement a System to Stay Organized
Personally, I use Meistertask and Excel. In my courses and group coaching program, I will give you a podcast planning sheet if you’d like to use my method for podcasting. In Meistertask, I set up a podcast production board, which I also include in my group coaching program. If you’re interested in taking your podcast to the next level, you should definitely check that out!
Must-Do #3 for a God-Led Business that Makes Income: Don’t Chase the World’s Promises
Don’t chase what the world promises you: do more, hustle harder, and show up everywhere! None of that is biblical, in my humble opinion. What is biblical, however, is stewardship.
Develop a sustainable sales strategy and steward what the Lord has given you. If we filter everything we do through the lens of scripture as kingdom business owners, then we’re going to receive back truth. In return, we’ll probably let go of the things that aren’t serving us and don’t feel aligned with God’s will for us.
My business went from twelve offers to one core offer. I went from showing up everywhere to just having one long-form method as my bread and butter. I am truly committed to the promise of long-form, and audio long-form is the secret sauce for conversion. When it comes to making an income, it’s all about your sustainable sales strategy.
Step 1: Decide on Your Core Offer
Decide on one core offer that solves a significant problem for your audience. In Podcast to Profit, I teach my students the power of market research. The same pain point is often communicated in many different ways. Once you figure that out, there’s your six-figure business!
Friends, you need to get out of your own way to create what people actually need. Discern your one core offer, and if you’re struggling with that step, I can help you in Podcast to Profit.
Step 2: Nurture Leads Through Email Marketing and Community
Where are you generating your leads? Ideally, it’s from your podcast. You need to nurture those leads. The goal is to bring them into your email marketing. Please don’t overcomplicate this by creating 37 different freebies! Just create one thing that people want, like a checklist, quiz, or a simple workshop.
You can also nurture from a community, such as Facebook or LinkedIn. You should be sure your avatar hangs out in the place you choose. If you want to see an example of a highly converting community, check out my Facebook group.
Additionally, your core offer can produce leads. I teach my students to do coaching first, e-courses second, and group coaching third. The reason I teach it this way is because it’s an ascension model. You learn what your audience wants through coaching. Once you’ve solidified what they want from you, we take the most teachable, concrete thing and put it into an online course.
A great place to teach you this exact process is through my Profitable Podcast Bootcamp, where I’ll walk you through this entire process over the course of 5 days.
Step 3: Book Market Research Calls
Set a goal to book 2-3 market research calls to learn from your avatar. You’ll figure out where they’re stuck and what they need from you. Those free 5-10-minute calls help you position your messaging and marketing to get more leads in the next 12 months.
Step 4: Track Key Metrics
Take a look at your analytics. What episodes are the most downloaded? What are people engaging in? Where are you seeing the most activity? We want to pour more fuel on that fire. I give my students a KPI (key performance indicator) metrics spreadsheet, which they fill in every month. This spreadsheet shows downloads, email subscribers, open rates, sales, and much more. You can see what you need to adjust based on your monthly assessments.
The Wrap-Up: Steps for a God-Led Business that Makes Income
As we wrap up our three must-dos for a God-led business that makes income, let’s recap on what we’ve learned.
God is not a God of confusion. 1 Corinthians 14:33 says, “For God is not a God of disorder but of peace…” so we need to grow our business with peace and purpose. This doesn’t mean more offers, and it doesn’t mean we work around the clock. It means we simplify and lead with intention.
If you focus on these three steps over the next 60 days, you’ll have the most clarity on your God-led business than you’ve ever had before. All of the other fluff is just frosting on the cupcake!
Today, it’s just you, me, and my lukewarm coffee as I share with you what happened at my annual CEO Retreat. Grab a pen and paper and let’s dig deeper into what happened at my CEO Retreat and what you can learn from it for your business.
This post is based on Day Two of the New Year, New You series. It’s all about organization. To teach you about this topic of organization, I have one of my favorite people on the planet to dive deep into productivity and systems, my incredible friend Chelsi Jo Moore.
Today, let’s talk about the concept of imposter syndrome. Experiencing imposter syndrome means doubting your abilities and feeling like a fraud, as though you don’t deserve to be recognized as an expert.
Do you know what God’s call is for you? How can you overcome distraction and hear God’s call? If you’re anything like me, you have been attacked from every angle with fear, worry, anxiety, and sadness.
