18 Sales from Her Live Workshop: A Success Story with Tracy Franken

WHY TRACY FRANKEN STARTED A PODCAST

Stef: You have a unique brand and a unique business, Tracy. Please share what you do.

Tracy:  I work with dog lovers who have fearful dogs. More than dog training, I take my business a step further by helping dog owners build connections and bonds with their dogs. This is not done by focusing on how owners show up with their fearful dogs. I build their confidence which in turn builds confident, happy dogs.

My podcast is called Beyond Obedience because as dog owners, my listeners want more than just giving dog treats and expecting obedience. They want a relationship with their dog, so the name Beyond Obedience is a fitting title.

I started the podcast because I was tired of showing up on social media and answering everyone’s questions about dog training. Everyone was asking, “How do I fix my dog?” when I wanted to help them build a stronger connection with their dog. I knew that was what they were missing but couldn’t explain it in ninety seconds. Searching for the right method or strategy made me ready to give up and sell cosmetics on the side of the road!

I started a podcast thinking, I don’t even care if anyone hears it. I’ll say it because it’s in my heart. Then you came into my life. An advertisement on Facebook that said Profitable Podcast Boot Camp. I knew nothing about you but was amazed that a profit could be made from a podcast. I said I’m going to sign up for that. On day one of that boot camp, I was all in. I knew it was everything I needed.

HOW TRACY’S PODCAST AND BUSINESS WAS GOING BEFORE PODCAST TO PROFIT

Stef: I’m curious, Tracy. How was your podcast going?

Tracy:  It was rough. I think the only people listening were my friends. I told them, “I’m starting a podcast,” and they said, “That’s so good for you, Tracy. Good for you.”

Stef: So your podcast wasn’t working for you. Were you making money in your business?

Tracy: My business had gone through a tumultuous path prior to this, which is why I was ready to give up.

WHEN EXPENSIVE COACHING PROGRAMS DON’T BRING RESULTS

Tracy: Before Podcast to Profit, I invested in an expensive group coaching about online marketing. I gave every dollar I had in my business to that program. I built the most behemoth funnel, and I was proud of it. It was massive, but I followed the instructions, and wanted to tell everyone, “Look at what I created!”

Unfortunately, I found out at the end that for my funnel to be successful, I had to use Facebook advertising. So, I scrounged up pennies and asked people to give me money. I said, “Can you just please invest in me? I built this thing, this funnel. You know, if you build it, they will come.” All of a sudden, I’m embarrassed to say, something broke in the funnel. It is still broken to this day. If you go into my email service provider, you will see how many people are stuck in my funnel.

The coaching program was done, and I was out of money and hope. I figured I had to do things organically so I joined the social media grind. As I already said, I couldn’t dissect complex canine stuff in ninety seconds, so in my frustration, I started the podcast. I didn’t start the podcast as a business move but as a way to say what I wanted to say. It was my way of quitting. I just put it out into the universe.

PODCAST TO PROFIT OFFERS ALL THE PIECES FOR BUSINESS SUCCESS

Stef: That is powerful. How often are we sold a big, expensive complicated thing? I built big juicy funnels that went 13,000,000 places and something always breaks or gets outdated. Within three months, you’re reworking funnels. Talk about distraction.

That’s why I don’t have you build funnels in Podcast to Profit. I teach you to send one evergreen email each week. The more funnels you create in your business, the more problems you have including things breaking, becoming outdated, and hiring more people to keep it all running. You also spent all your money on one piece of the business puzzle. You invested so much money in a funnel, which is 0.5% of what it takes to create a profitable online business. SOCIAL MEDIA ISN’T NECESSARY TO GROW YOUR BUSINESS

Stef: After spending all your money on the other course, what made you want to join Podcast to Profit?

Tracy: What originally caught me was that you said the word profitable and were tired of the social media grind. So was I. I didn’t want to document my life anymore. I just wanted to live it. Until I met you, I was always told that social media had to be the main thing in your online business. Of course, you have to be on social media posting and feeding the algorithm. I had a moment where one of my social posts took off, and I thought I had made it. I’m in the promised land, but not one sale came from it.

Stef: Yes, posting on social media is all-encompassing obsessive. I felt that way, too.

Tracy: I knew I needed to listen to you because no one else was talking about not using social media for their business. Besides, I really loved podcasting, even though I wasn’t doing a good job at it.

WHEN FINANCES ARE A ROADBLOCK FOR EXPANDING YOUR BUSINESS

Stef: So, you miraculously come up with the money for Podcast to Profit. What would you say to someone whose finances are a roadblock to joining Podcast to Profit?

Tracy: The money was the biggest roadblock, but it became the greatest motivator. Had I not invested in myself with Podcast to Profit, I would have slipped back to what I had already built even though I didn’t know how to fix them. At least I had all the parts. Instead, because I invested in Podcast to Profit, I kept saying, Tracy, you spent the money. You are doing it Stef’s way. You will show up for the coaching calls and listen to Stef. I did what you told me. It was hard to turn off all the other things I had made, but I did.

Stef: I understand and I see you, Tracy. It’s almost better to come into Podcast to Profit sooner. I had nine or ten offers in the past and I had funnels everywhere just like you. Many people might think the same thing: I’ve already spent so much money on wasted programs and built all these things that don’t work together, and I’m still not making money. Either give up or go all in. That’s the moment you must make the decision: Will I trust Stef that she can help me and is trustworthy in this online business space? You decided I was and took the leap. What was it like being in Podcast to Profit?

Stef: Tracy, you are at the end of Podcast to Profit without officially graduating yet. You have had insane outcomes and success. Tell us about your wins through the program so far.

Tracy: I followed your Live Launch System and did a two-day live workshop. I set my expectations to fifty people signing up. If fifty people came, I would be thrilled. Even if fifteen people showed up, it would have been great. After my other experience, I just need one sale. I had one hundred and five people sign up, and all of them were organic leads. That was huge because in the past I had to feed the Facebook ads with the money I didn’t have and still didn’t make sales.

I had forty people show up live on both days. They stayed till the end, which I ended up adding an extra day because there were so many questions. On the third day, twenty-eight people showed up and my email was flooded. At the end of the five days, I sold eighteen courses! I had the best time in that launch. It was fun.

Stef: Your first live workshop from leads brought in exclusively through the podcast gave you eighteen sales without social media. And you haven’t even finished Podcast to Profit yet! And you made your money back without even graduating yet?!

I have chills, Tracy. This is everything. You learned all the pieces in Podcast to Profit: how to position the podcast and how to plan the live workshop. Tracy: There was resistance. I came in with my arms crossed because I had worked so hard and wanted to hang on to what I worked so hard at even though it got me nothing! But you told me that we have to pick, move, and then test. I heard you say that to others before, but now because I was in the student seat, I was more dialed in. Picking, moving, and testing brought so much peace to me because I realized that regardless of what happened in the launch, I was not a failure. Stef is with me to do this journey, and everything’s a test. If it doesn’t go the way I had planned, we can come back and workshop it. That was comforting.
