I decided to do a fun, episode for you today on how to share your faith. If you’re anything like me, you probably have some narrative that you’re unqualified to talk about your faith. That it would push people away. That it would be awkward or weird. And maybe… the whole thing just gives you anxiety!
I remember feeling the same way and telling a friend of mine how I wish I had the gift of evangelism. But it just wasn’t for me. Then, 6 short months later I heard from TWO people that me simply sharing my faith had brought them to Jesus.
Friends, God can and will use you, if you let Him.
In today’s chat I give 3 ways that you can share your faith without being pushy, awkward, weird, or knowing a bunch of theology! There is so much freedom in these 3 principals and I pray they find you right on time.
I pray this blesses you.

Hey, friends! Merry Christmas Eve Eve Eve, wait, Christmas Eve Eve. I hope you’re ready. Here it comes. Today, I just really wanted to kind of pour into you and felt led to do a faith episode. One of the things that my friends and my community asked me is how do I actually share my faith? And there are a lot of ways and reasons why this is hard for people.
I think some of them are, they feel like they have to be pushy. They feel like it always gets awkward. That’s what I used to think. Or they say, I don’t know theology, so I’m gonna get stumped. And some have actually told me that they don’t wanna share their faith because they’re afraid of pushing people away.
Today I’m gonna go to through three ways that you can share your faith. You can do this without any of those fears, without being pushy, awkward, without knowing theology.
And even if you’re like a super-duper introvert, these are all going to work for you. So I hope that this blesses you today, friend. I pray that your Christmas is just special and full of family fun and slow and enjoyable.
And that you eat so much yumminess. I also pray that if you are lonely this Christmas or dealing with grief. That God is just with you, holding you, pouring His love out upon you. Also reminding you that He is with you. Let’s do this!
God’s got jokes because for so long. I felt so unqualified to share my faith in any way I thought, oh my goodness, you have to know scripture inside and out. And oh man, I haven’t even read the whole Bible or I can’t even tell you what the books are.
When you start getting convicted, usually as a baby Christian or a newborn Christian, you don’t know theology, you are just learning.
And so that really threw me off for a long time. When people would say the word like evangelism or sharing about your faith or sharing about Jesus, it felt so high pressure. What do I do? Like knock on people’s doors and say like, Jesus loves you, Larry. Like, let’s come to the Lord, Jesus. I mean, it just felt like so much.
And I guess I never had anybody explain to me that sharing your faith could be super easy. It could be so low pressure, but yet it could still lead countless people to the truth and the life and the way I wish I had known then what I know now.
Because what’s so cool is through these three simple things I’m about to share with you God has used me and this podcast and this business and simple conversation between friends or family and holy spirit leading to not only change people’s hearts but help them find salvation.
And it’s so sureal to think that it’s been this easy all along. So I just pray today that these three things can help free you from any pressure overwhelm or fears you have around stepping up into sharing your faith. Let’s begin with this concept, you guys, have heard this before that people will learn more and know more and see more about you based on what you do rather than what you say.
So, number one, the first one is to live in love, like Jesus, the first way to just share your faith is simply by being who you already are, how much freedom is that? Hallelujah. I am not asking you to open your mouth. Do anything to say anything to anybody in step one it’s truly just to live and love like Jesus.
John 13:34 through 35 says “A new commandment I give to you that you love one another, just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another. By this, all people will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another.”
He repeated himself like three times, like love one another. And then what I love so much about this verse is it says “by this, all people will know that you are my disciples”.
So simply through the way that we show up and the way that we forgive and the way that we love and the way that we serve that in and of itself is showing our faith, people begin to look at us and go, wow, what’s different about him or what’s different about her?
It’s just so cool to know that your actions will speak so much more than your words. And I also think that there’s something to say about when you react in anger or thinking about what you actually post on social media, because that also has a connotation, right? Cuz people go, oh, they’re a Christian.
If you come at people or you’re angry with people or you’re reacting out of not fruits of the spirit, but everything opposite of that, of opposite of those, um, that also puts a bad taste in people’s mouths around faith. And so just being the light, being the waymaker and being the difference here.
And why I love point one so much is there’s not always an opportunity to share about your faith in conversation. There’s been so many times where I have friends and I still have family who are not believers and I’m praying like holy spirit, open the door for conversation, and there’s just no open door.
And one of the best things and some of the advice that I’ve received from people that I look up to and spiritual mentors and scripture was just show up as you are being led by holy spirit and your actions.
And the way that you treat them and the way that you show up it is gonna go a long way, living and working as holy as you can and none of us are perfect, but it should be what we are striving for.
It should be this constant growth and this challenge of how can I live up to using my gifts and my skills in a way that honors God every single day. And this is really the best first and easiest way that we can share our faith.
So number two, the second way that you can share your faith is seek holy spirit and lean into discernment. So, I had some situations recently in the last year where holy spirit put it on my heart, the door did open, the conversation did arise. And I just sat there so terrified because I don’t know theology, what are they gonna ask me? What hard questions are gonna come up?
Instead of letting my fears get in the way of opening my mouth, I just said, in that moment, holy spirit, please take the wheel, please lead. Please help me, please speak on my behalf because I am so not qualified for this conversation right now.
I don’t know anything about anything, but I’m gonna need you to take this and help me because I truly know that this is an opportunity and that we can do something, we can plant seeds, we can share wisdom and truth, but help me.
And you know, what’s so cool is like holy spirit would lead me in a totally different direction. I think that people who do ask the questions and they do open up and you do recognize somebody is showing you a need to hear about faith and they’re looking for more and they’re asking for advice or they’re just asking questions.
The truth is that they’re not looking for theology because they probably don’t know theology anyway. They are looking for your true honest feedback about how you feel and how you’ve been changed. And just knowing that it’s okay not to know what you’re gonna say. It’s ok not to know all the answers.
And it’s okay to be just super honest about that. Just speak the truth about what you have experienced and what you believe. And that’s gonna speak volumes more than riffing scripture, or trying to be argumentative about where the dinosaurs are in scripture.
Like it’s really about coming from a heartfelt place and also like leaning a lot into, and this is almost gonna get me into point three.
But I just feel like I need to say this, leaning into invitation, like one of the coolest conversations I ever had with somebody began with them trying to be argumentative with me and me going, you know what? I don’t have the answers that you’re you’re looking for. I don’t know.
But here’s what I know. I have truly experienced miraculous, supernatural things. My life is different. I feel so at peace and joyful, I’m not scared or confused or frustrated like living life feels so much easier and more free now.
And all I can say is, have you ever asked God, if He’s real, have you ever prayed to see what happens? Because I know that He is a God who hears you. And maybe if you just ask Him to show you the truth that He would.
That simple seed played out, it became a seed that was watered and it grew slowly, and over time that person came to know Jesus.
And so let holy spirit speak through you and on your behalf, but really think about like what has happened for you, how has God shown up in your life and just speak to that without any expectation, without pointing a finger or demanding an answer, it’s just here’s what’s happened for me.
And then listen, one of the biggest things for me has been stop talking and truly listen, and then let holy spirit lead. There are two verses I actually wanna read you is on point number two. And the first one is Isaiah 59:21 “As for me, this is my covenant with them, says the Lord. My spirit is upon you.
My words, which I have put in your mouth shall not depart from your mouth.” So, what is so refreshing is knowing that you don’t have to speak on your own accord, holy spirit will speak for you.
And when it comes to discernment, just knowing Lord, is now the time? And if it is prompt me, give me the words and give me the courage. It’s terrifying sometimes to open our mouths when we see that opportunity arise, but it’s our responsibility as God soldiers, and as his messengers to do the things.
The next one is Romans 8:26 through 27. “In the same way, the spirit also helps our weakness for we to not know how to pray as we should, but the spirit himself intercedes for us, He who searches our hearts knows what the mind of the spirit is.”
So what this is saying is that we are weak in our own power, we do not even know how to pray as we should, but the holy spirit knows and he intercedes on our behalf. He will not leave you, especially in these moments where he is going to partner with you to help you.
Last but not least point number three is be honest, ready, and willing. Now this one is on you. You have to have this mindset of I’m willing, because of point two, you’re trusting the Holy Spirit’s gonna be with you. And you’re discerning over the atmosphere and the timings and the invitations that people are giving you to actually say something.
It brings us to point three, which is you gotta be ready because it’s going to happen, God is going to use you. You are called already and you raise your hand, you’re going chosen.
He’s like, okay, Larry and Louise just raised their hand and said, we are willing to help share our faith, Lord. We are willing to help you and be the hands and feet of Jesus. And so we have to be honest really, and ready and willing.
And this is okay even if you’re an introvert, you can do this because there’s three easy ways that you can really have conversational, low pressure examples of your faith. So there are three steps here. One is listen, so don’t just talk at people, ask them questions, actually listen.
And as you listen, you’re silently praying for holy spirit to help give you answers, but try to pick up all the ways that God is already drawing that person to Him, all of the ways of maybe they’re searching or they’re looking for answers, or they’re seeking that you’ve maybe personally experienced.
Which brings me to number two inside of this step, share your story not just someone else’s. It’s so easy to be like, yeah, if you go to First, John, and you check out this scripture and you do this thing.
Or maybe you should read this book, that’s a good book, people are gonna be so much more impacted by your story. You have experienced something and they know you, they trust you.
They see you as a real life person. And some of the craziest things for me that have happened, came from other people sharing a story with me that would’ve seemed unbelievable from anyone else, but because I knew them, trusted them and believed them, they became questions in my own heart and mind that I began to go and seek out.
So sharing your story, just invites vulnerability and trust in new ways. And then the last thing here in this step is to invite them, to see for themselves, just invite, invitation.
This could be sharing your testimony and then saying like, Hey, if you’ve never tried, you could ask the Lord about that for yourself, or, Hey, if you’ve never asked God these questions, or if He’s even real, I think that’d be a great place to start.
Or hey, if you’re ever looking for some answers, you could start with a simple Bible transcription like NLT or NIV and starting the new Testament.
You guys, that has led so many people to a deeper faith because they didn’t know what it meant to even open the Bible. They were opening it in Genesis and Exodus and they were getting all kinds overwhelmed.
So leading people to the right place in scripture, or inviting them to church, or even inviting them to lunch with you to do a deeper dive and just seeing if they’re even interested in that, see if they lean into your invitations and you never know how God’s gonna work through you.
I wanna read you a verse it’s First Peter 3:15 through 16 “Christ apart as Lord in your heart.” So believers should set Christ apart as Lord in your hearts and “always be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks about the hope you possess yet, do it with courtesy and respect.”
So this to me is everything we’ve talked about today, being kind, using your story, open invitation, leading questions, listening, living out your life like Christ and showing people who Jesus is by what you do, not by what you say. And then if they open the door by what you say as well.
So those are my three steps to sharing your faith. I pray this blesses, you and I pray that it encourages you to be brave. And to know that this is gonna be so much easier than you think. I used to joke that I wish I had the gift of evangelism, but that I was just awful at it. And the Lord proved me wrong.
Now that I see how much good He can do through me, simply being awkward and fumbling my way forward and trying, but being willing to open my mouth and to just press into these moments of feeling unqualified or feeling discomfort that he shows up again and again, and that is my purpose.
And that’s everyone’s purpose here is to be this beacon of light and to help Him save souls and bring them to the truth and the way. Merry Christmas, sister! I will see you back here next week.
I can’t wait to dig into the amazing content that I have coming up for the rest of the year and a super fun business builder series that I have planned for you at the beginning of January, it’s gonna be so legit. Go rest, relax, take a nap, and I’ll meet you back here next week. God bless you!
