(00:00): Hey friends. Welcome to today’s episode, where we are going to be talking about the six mistakes that are keeping you from success. I’m talking monetary success, growing your audience, scaling your business, all the things that would help you create the life that I really truly believe every person is destined for.
(00:23): These six mistakes are just keeping you stuck and they’re so easy to remedy and mitigate. So today I’m going to talk you through these six things that you need to change. It’s going to be good.
(02:22): Let’s get to today’s topic. What are six mistakes that you might and probably are making in your business that are keeping you from having success? All right, let’s just get to it.
(02:38): Number one. The first thing is that you are not micro niched. Hey Stef, what does that mean exactly? What is a micro niche?
(02:48): Well, Lola, I’m so glad you asked a micro niche is when you quit talking to everyone and you start talking to one person, and I know this is a really weird one for people. It’s kind of a mindset thing because how do I grow and scale a business if I’m only talking to one person like, isn’t that going to be limiting? Isn’t that going to cut people out from following me?
(03:14): No, the opposite occurs. When you start talking to one specific person, there’s a whole bunch of people that share those similar qualities and people feel seen. That’s the secret here.
(03:27): When you micro niche and you have one specific message, what do I teach? How do I teach it? And to whom do I teach it? What are their specific outcomes of me teaching this thing, thing, one thing, one specific area.
(03:44): I’ll give you an example in a moment they feel seen. They’re like, Oh my gosh, they’re talking directly to me. They’re solving my specific problem. And that is where you guys grow trust.
(03:54): So example, for me, I went from helping just all kinds of network marketers when I first started my coaching business, because that’s what I came from, right was the network marketing industry. Then realizing, oh wait, they could be any type of entrepreneur then it was entrepreneurs in general. Okay. Then it was female entrepreneurs. Then it became mompreneurs.
(04:19): And finally, over the past 20 months or so, almost two years, it became that specifically Christian or faith led mompreneur who wants to grow and scale a passive course-led and coaching business online completely in a really passive way.
(04:43): Like you guys it’s so micro niche. And when you ask me stuff, what do you do? I say, Oh my gosh, I am a clarity coach and a podcasting coach for Christian mompreneurs. I help them scale passive businesses based on the soul calling that I believe God has gifted them.
(05:02): How do you do it? Stef? I offer private clarity coaching one on one coaching. And I have courses on how to start a podcast. I also offer masterminds and group coaching programs to help people 10x, their podcast, or 10x, their revenue.
(05:19): And then what are the results Stef of working with you? Yes, I’m so excited that you asked. People walk away from working with me with absolute clarity, belief that they can actually do it, and the toolkit to implement a passive revenue business online using podcasting as their organic sales funnel, to then generate that income from coaching or using courses.
(05:45): If you guys cannot do all of those exercises that I just did for your business, let’s grab a one on one call and I will help you. Okay. If you don’t have a micro niche, you are being kept from the success that you can easily attain.
(06:00): All right. Number two. The second mistake you could be making is that you are not following the demand of your avatar. What does this mean? This means that you might be creating things or talking about topics that you think people want to hear about.
(06:20): For example, if you’re a health coach and you’re talking about how to clear your mindset or how to save on calories by eating more clean. It’s what you think people want, but here’s where you’re going wrong. You’re not digging into the demand of your actual avatar. You guys have to know and understand who you’re talking to get inside of their brain and then speak directly to the demand, the problems and the triggers, that they are giving you.
(06:55): Example, if I’m a health coach, what do I know? I speak, let’s say I’m speaking directly to 45 year old women. I know for sure that they have a demand to lose the quarantine weight right now. Hey, I’ve got 10 extra pounds. How do I know this? Because y’all, I got lots of friends. I have lots of acquaintances. And also I’m a woman I’m 35, but hello, quarantine, brownies, pizza.
(07:22): So I know that that is demand. And so instead of saying just how to save calories by eating healthy. What if you spoke specifically to the demand, which was a three hacks to drop the quarantine 10 in 30 days.
(07:39): Do you guys feel the difference there? You’ve got to speak to the demand, speak to the triggers of your avatar, right? Stop being so floaty with your content. And if you guys don’t know what the demand is, get into your DMS. Start messaging people that are in your groups.
(07:58): If you don’t have a group or you don’t have even one follower go into someone else’s group who has the niche that you have and start putting out that market research. You know, if you’re an organizer for moms start getting in there and talking about what is the number one thing keeping you from being successful as an organized parent? What’s happening for you now that you’re distance learning or homeschooling? Why is it not working to stay organized?
(08:23): Get in there, get deep with people, and then whatever verbiage that they give you guys start reusing that verbiage in your titles of your podcasts, blogs, or videos. Okay?
(08:36): The third mistake that you could be making that is keeping you from 10xing from scaling your success. This one specifically is that you only offer one tiny thing. I know all the fancy coaches right now are like do a tiny offer. $27 run Facebook ads to it.
(09:02): I am absolutely 100% not here for it. Why? Because when someone is willing to spend $27 with you, they’re willing to spend $297 with you. I believe based on my research that my avatar, my Lola you guys, if you’re willing to spend $1 with me, you’re willing to spend up to $500 with me in your very first purchase.
(09:30): Why? Because you already trust me. If all I had to offer you guys was a $27 mini product. You would be very unsatisfied. Most of you would get through that $27 mini thing in an hour and be like, now what Stef? What’s next?
(09:52): So a common mistake that I see people making is they focus so much attention and time on creating a tiny offer. That’s under $100 and then they leave it there and think, well, because I’m not selling any of these, I shouldn’t create anything else.
(10:11): And then they end up giving up. And just going back to the job. What I believe is that you should create your signature offer first. A signature offer, in my opinion, is something that gets people, a tangible, sticky, realistic result in 90 days or less. It solves the number one problem that your avatar has.
(10:30): If you can do that, and I don’t care how many modules it is, I don’t care how big your course is, the solution to their number one problem, right? You can have a product that is roughly between $300-$500, you’re going to start making so much more income so much more quickly.
(10:51): And then as soon as you’ve created your signature offer, which is that medium price point, ask yourself what supplemental products do I need?
(11:02): So here it is, this is number three, is that you must expand your product suite based on your super fan number.
(11:11): So two episodes ago, I introduced you guys to the super fan calculation. If you have over 300 to 400 super fans, you probably want to start thinking about what else can I offer people other than my one signature product?
(11:25): Why? Because your signature product will always sell. If you’re like me and you offer it evergreen, which is a free bonus tip, offer your signature thing all the time. Okay? And you can run promos to it once in a while, but I don’t like open or closed cart because if I want to buy something, I want to buy something. And I think that people feel that way.
(11:46): It also feels weird and salesy, if you’re like, you could only buy it twice a year. So there’s a bonus tip.
(11:52): But in the background of selling your signature product, now that it’s available and it’s fully passive, ask yourself what supplemental things do people need. Example, I have Podcast Pro University over 250 people have gone through that course. Of those 250 people, how many do you guys think are ready for the next level? A lot. At least 10%-20%.
(12:17): That’s when I had to create a product suite, which is number three, right? Expanding the product suite to what’s next. Always ask yourself after you complete something and people are going through it, what’s next? You don’t want to leave people dry. You want to offer them. Then the next thing.
(12:49): And then the next step is the mastermind. Why? Because they want to monetize the podcast. They want to then create a course or a product that will drive income and revenue using their show. So we did this four month mastermind group. I had 18 people that went through that at roughly $3,000. And that’s my third step.
(13:11): So you guys need to think about what is my signature offer and then what am I going to do after you’ve created and launched this signature offer once people are done with this?
(13:20): Now that brings me to number four, go deep instead of wide. What does this one mean? This means as you’re taking people through a journey with you, free podcast content, right? Then they’re saying, I’ve gotten a result. I trust you. Now move them into your signature product, your eCourse.
(13:41): If you guys need help with that, grab a one hour call with me and we can map out an outline your signature eCourse.
(13:47): Now the next thing you want to think about is not now, what else do I create? No, not what else. What does that person need? That’s going through the signature product. You want to take one client, one avatar, on a complete journey eventually. Right?
(14:08): So after my mastermind was over, which we’re actually ending this month, they weren’t done. Instead of saying, well, bye guys, thanks for everything. I’m launching an entirely new program. I offered them one on one coaching packages so that we could then implement everything we learned in the mastermind. They could have that accountability to actually do the work.
(14:33): So some of the girls that are in my mastermind have been working with me now for almost a full year. Okay guys, you will always not only make more money, but actually help people have a massive transformation in whatever it is you teach. When you take them on the full journey and make sure that they have all the pieces of the puzzle; the eCourse, the teachings, then the how to, which could be a mastermind or the course.
(15:03): Then sometimes they need strategy and brainstorming, which could be a one-on-one. Then finally they need accountability to actually do the things. And that could be a mastermind or that could be a one on one coaching. Right?
(15:17): Alright. Last two. Apparently I have six things. Okay. So you get a bonus. One other thing you are not doing. A mistake you are making, that’s keeping you from massive success is you are not outsourcing anything or you’re not outsourcing enough.
(15:35): How many of you are solopreneurs? Raise your hand. I see you. Just kidding. But I totally see you guys. I know that you’re doing everything yourself.
(15:46): How do I know this? Well, because sister friend, I was an entrepreneur and have been for eight years. And for most of those years, I tried to do everything alone. Why? Because I thought I couldn’t afford to get help because I thought it was cheaper to do it myself.
(16:04): This one’s embarrassing. I thought nobody else could do what I do. It’s hilarious. Oh my goodness. Spoiler. We are not as amazing as we think we are.
(16:18): People that you outsource to are typically going to be even better than you are at what they do. It’s been proven now with what I do time and time again. So you got to outsource, I don’t care what you outsource. You’ve just got to start doing it. Especially those of you that are in any kind of profitable position at this point, if you’re profiting a thousand dollars a month it’s time.
(16:41): Yes it is. It’s time. You guys get resourceful. I have clients who have a VA that they just found on like Fiverr or Upwork for $6-$10 an hour. Start there. Give people the really simple, repetitive stuff that you’re doing every single month or every single week over and over again.
(17:05): My hack here is that I started to record myself and record my processes every single week. I just would like screen record using Zoom. I would upload them into a Google share folder. Once I got a VA, all of my trainings were already there and she was able to take over. I started just giving her a few little things and because, hello, we’re not as amazing as we think we are. She got those things done in like no time flat, totally took over everything.
(17:40): She was amazing. I was like, here’s a bunch more stuff. And now she runs like 30% of my business. Okay. Shout out to Nina. But seriously you gotta get help.
(17:53): What else did I outsource? I outsource podcast management and editing. I have a Facebook group manager. Who’s running all of my Facebook groups. I also have a house cleaner. Okay. I also get help from my mom who takes care of the kids once a week.
(18:08): So you guys ask for help and outsource. This is a huge mistake that if you are not doing this, it is definitely keeping you from expansion. Why? You can’t be the visionary in your business, have creative juices flowing, think about big, amazing things in what’s next and creating courses and signature offers, if you’re doing all of the little stuff; inbox management, blog creation, transcription, and editing your own show.
(18:37): I get it. We can’t afford everything at first, but you can afford to start somewhere. If my clients can find a $6 an hour VA, so can you.
(18:50): The last mistake you are making in your business to keep you from the incredible success and the life that you truly deserve. God has created all of us to have to experience heaven on earth, right? To experience his favor and provision over our lives.
(19:19): I’m not talking about prosperity gospel right now. I’m talking about living God’s way so that God can lead us in our businesses, lead the right clients to you, give you the amazing Holy Spirit downloads of what He’s asking you to create. If you want to experience that type of complete transformation and just live your business peacefully.
(19:44): Like I flow, I’m not worried about it. God has 10x my business this year. That’s bigger than what I could have ever dreamed of.
(19:56): It is September 1st, and I’ve made four times the amount of income that I made in all of 2019. That is a God-sized dream. That is not a dream that Stefanie Gass had. I never for in a million years would have been like, sure, let’s just 4x the income. That sounds like a great plan.
(20:13): No. My plans are ridiculously small compared to what God has in store for me. You are the same.
(20:22): So the last mistake that you could be making is that you have not relinquished control. You have not surrendered over to God’s plan for your life in business, and you are still trying to control it. You’re still freaking out about how much money you need to make, and over-planning and panicking and getting distracted and investing in the wrong stuff. You’re taking action before you bring it to God and not praying over business decisions.
(20:52): You’re also not serving and showing up just to serve and solve and help. You’re showing up to make money.
(20:59): So that final mistake is relinquishing control to God’s plan. Listening and getting quiet enough to hear that intervention. How do we do this? Well, you, first of all, have to get off of social media. You have to put down your phone. For me it’s every weekend.
(21:20): I have to be in scripture every day. And if you’re not somebody that wants to read the Bible, get the Bible app, put it on a really easy translation, like the New Living Translation. I know that’s controversial, but hey, it’s better to understand it than to be confused.
(21:36): Put on an easy translation, press play and let it read aloud to you while you shower, drive, and do the dishes. But hearing those scriptures will literally speak to my soul. Then praying before I take a client, I pray, God, do you want me to take this client? Is this client, God-sent? God, do you want me to launch this thing? Lord, do you want me to be in this mastermind? God, if you don’t want me to do these things, give me that clarity.
(22:03): Sometimes that clarity isn’t 100%. So I do what I think God is asking me to do. And it will become clear. It will become abundantly clear because you prayed over that. And you’re asking, God’s hand to direct you, your business, finances, choices, and all of the things that you’re doing in your life.
(22:24): When you allow that to happen, I’m telling you guys God’s favor over the plans you have are massively more abundant than anything you could imagine anything. I’ve seen it in my own business over the past three years, but even more so this year.
(22:42): That is the final mistake is maybe you haven’t fully relinquished control surrendered to what God wants over your business. If you’re just stuck in that, get quiet, get rid of social. If you’re not even willing to delete the apps for a weekend to get close and to grow that intimacy with Christ, He is probably not ready to talk to you. You know what I’m saying?
(23:05): We have to be willing to sacrifice in order to surrender. So starting there, that would be my tip. Be willing to sacrifice your phone, social media, distraction, frustration, overwhelm, and panic in order to hear.
(23:23): All right. I hope that those six things, six mistakes you can remedy take action on. Get to change in those sister friend, because they are keeping you from success. I want to see next year, be incredibly abundantly, amazing, favor-filled, and God-led. I know that you can have that if you just get these six things in order.
(23:47): If you need any help at all, grab a one hour coaching session with me. I would love to help you get clarity, fix your messaging, map out the signature product, put together the mastermind, and whatever you need when it comes to growing your online business God’s way. I’m excited to be here for you, to support you in that. You can email us firstname.lastname@example.org to get on my calendar. I have a couple of spots left in September. So one of those could be yours. Let’s do it.
(24:17): Okay, sister, praying over you now. I just pray that whatever one of these mistakes is holding you back, that you open your heart and mind to seeing the change that God wants you to make you take the action to create the change, to be disciplined and to sacrifice whatever you need to in order to begin a new and fresh to take those tests that you’ve been experiencing and turn them into testimonies so you can help others.
(24:43): You can begin to open and spread your wings into the mission, work that God is so desperately is calling you to. That you believe and trust that His plan is so much bigger, better, and more flavorful than yours could ever be.
(24:56): That you just trust that he will lead you in the right direction, on the right path to the right clients, to the right things in order to create that new, amazing, beautiful, realistic vision of what your life is going to become. We love you, Lord. We trust in You, in Jesus’s name, amen. I’ll see you guys later. Love and light, Stef.
